I may start a fire storm with what I am about to say but I feel it needs said, God is not politically correct. God is not cool with modern insights and philosophies. He could not give a care less about what man feels is right. He is God and just because somebody says He is old fashioned or wrong does not make him old fashioned or wrong. He wrote the word of God by inspiring over 40 men to write it. He wrote exactly what He meant to say and man's was not consulted about it. Man can declare God's word to be old fashioned as long as we want to but it does not change God;s mind. Sin is sin. As a Christian minister I am under a moral and spiritual obligation to speak out against what God says is wrong. I have been accused of being closed minded and even of being a bigot for doing so. If I am speaking God;s word I am speaking God's word. My opinion and God's do not always agree but God has never consulted my opinion about anything. My opinion does not matter. I am morally obligated to carry out the will of God. So please take that under advisement before you fly off half cocked calling anybody a bigot.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: I am looking forward to November, because...
Give us as many reason as you want about why you are looking forward to November."

To be honest I am not looking forward to November. November has to be my least favorite month because the days get so much shorter starting in November, the leaves usually fall from the trees in November, and it's the beginning of the holiday season when people are hypocrites. I don't like November at all. Nor do I like December!

Blog City image small Prompt: "Write about the weather where you are. Looks like on the weather channel, there's quite a variance among us."

The weather where I am is quite nice. It's partly cloudy and about 65 degrees. So it could be much worse. A few hours north of us it is 20 degrees colder so there is a lot of difference. My son saw snowflakes at his place today. It was only flurries but he lives in the Appalachian Mountains.

Blog City image small Prompt: 'DAY 1768 October 19, 2018
The mega millions is up to 868 million (well at 10:57 pm WDC time,) what would you do with the money if you won."

I won't win because I won't play. I asm under covenant not to gamble or drink or smoke cigarettes. My Salvation Army covenant is pretty explicit about gambling and it is not allowed. If the Powerball was 500 trillion I still could not play. Sorry. I know I'm like the old cliche": a wet blanket at times but it keeps me out of trouble.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Have fun with these words:
wave
package
workshop
captain
age
jockey
opinion
link"

I know of a wave pool close to here. I have never been there though. I had a package in a recent auction. It sold for 40K. I have a workshop to attend today. I was a captain in the Air Force. (Not.) My age is 57. I was never a jockey. In my opinion this prompt is okay. I love prompts where I have to link something.

I agree that Coco is going to see fashion in everything because fashion is all Coco does.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogsPrompt: "What are you doing with yourself? Give us a bird's eye view of your day."

I am a student at Marshall University in Huntington WV. I attend four classes per day on Tuesday and Thursday of each week, which means I am in class starting at 11:00AM today. That's half an hour from now. I study history, geography, political science, and computer applications. I am a regents major with an emphasis on psychology. I hope to be a counselor if I ever finish school. I am in my final year at 57 years of age.

Blog City image small" Prompt: "Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door." Coco Chanel Write anything you want about this."

The book "Alcoholics Anonymous" has a passage in it that has become synonymous with practicing that program. It says essentially that acceptance is the answer to every problem a person can face. When people accept things for being the way they are they no longer have to fight their circumstances. If one continues to beat their head against a brick wall one is going to continue to walk away with a headache or worse. If one simply accepts that it is a brick wall, which isn't going to change or move, one no longer needs to fight it. Fighting a wall and hoping to transform it into a door becomes senseless unless you are a destructive teenager who would simply smash the wall in an thus make a door. Most reasonable people however realize that the only way to transfer a wall into a door is to place a real wall there. Acceptance is indeed the answer.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogsPrompt: "Use these two quotes in your writing today--

"Use these two quotes in your writing today--

"There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book.."~ Josh Jameson
and"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."~ Martin Luther King and Josh Jameson make sense from a Christian perspective. When Christians fail to speak out they are failing to do the will of God. Some of the things I have said on here have been dubbed bigotry and even "hate speech" but everything I have said has been from the Bible. I have been accused of hiding behind the Bible to spout hate speech but the fact of the matter is that I do not have to agree with something to adhere to it. I will admit that the Bible is anything but a modern book with ultra liberal world views. However the Bible is God's word and I am not God. I cannot change God. I can only preach God's word as it is written, which is my duty as a Christian. I wish people would understand that. Instead they hate God so much that they hate anything associated with God and that includes Christians. It is much easier to accuse a Christian of preaching hatred than it is to admit that something they are doing is contrary to God's will. Saying something is right in the world's eyes does not make it right in God's eyes for God is not of the world. He transcends the world though ultimately He will judge the world. Because I know He will judge the world I feel compelled to warn the world of sin and judgment to come.

Blog City image small Prompt: What does the Statue of Liberty mean to you, regardless of its history? If you are from another nation, what does your favorite national monument of your country mean to you?

The statue of liberty is a symbol of the freedom that many take for granted here in the USA. I live at the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville WV. I also go to the Huntington Veterans Administration Medical Center for care. I know for a fact that freedom is not free. A lot of people paid a great price for freedom, some the ultimate price. Freedom is very expensive.

The Statue of Liberty also reminds me that I have to be responsible with my freedom. Just because something is permitted does not mean I should do it. I'm permitted to jump off a ten story building but I am not going to do so. Just because I'm free does not mean I should be irresponsible but people often are.

I usually don't use a dictionary at all because as a child I copied large portions of the dictionary routinely as punishment in school. It was the best punishment they could have given me because it immensely helped my vocabulary, my spelling, and my intelligence quotient. I don't need dictionaries very often today unless I am unsure how many syllables are in a word. At times I check syllables. When I do I use an online dictionary because I am usually already online. I spend about half my free time on WDC.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs"Title Prompt: Dawn Breaks}.

I could probably do a lot with this title, provided I had time Right now I'm sweating to get through a computer science class at one college and sweating bullets as another college reviews the credits of work already completed there to decide if I have met all the requirements for a bachelor's degree. I believe I have but I did things in reverse. I did all my upper level classes prior to completion of my associate degree transfer. So now I have to explain that to the registrar. Is it my fault the classes were available online and I did them? By the way I aced most of them! My overall GPA is 2,75 or somewhere around there thanks to some foreign language classes! Anyway I will be blogging steadily again soon.

Blog City image small "Prompt: How can we help people who are grouches, and if someone you know is a grouch, how can you help that person? Or is it at all possible to change a grouch’s outlook? This is because today is the national grouch day.*BigSmile*

I think people typically react to others based on long past experiences. For example somebody who was abused or verbally assaulted a lot as a child may tend to react harshly to people presently in their lives. They may not and usually do not realize why they are angry. They just feel angry all the time, usually without provocation. The way I deal with grouches is to simply tolerate them when I have to and practice avoidance the rest of the time.

I have a professor who is always listing different national days as ice breakers at the beginning of class. I will tell him about National Grouch Day tomorrow. In fact I will email him as soon as I am done here and tell him! He'll love it. Thanks for the heads up!

Blog City image small Prompt: "Have fun with these 13 words---- prescription, separation, aunt, training, generate, moment, carbon, course, cheat, glue, residence, beg, and introduce"

You know I am going to have to try to have fun with these words by turning them into a sermonette. So let's just say that as a theologian I have a prescription for everybody that will lead to peace in your heart. It requires separation only from sin but Jesus forgives you when you screw it up. My aunt always tried to teach me that Jesus was the way. Like so many others I did not want to hear it. Years of training in Bible taught me differently. I learned that my aunt was right: Jesus is the answer. He can generate hope for the hopeless and life for the lifeless. He was dead one moment and alive the next. There are no carbon copies. Of course He will accept anybody who believes in Him. Love is the glue that holds His people together. His residence is Heaven. Earth is his footstool. He will not beg you to believe in him or love Him. However I hope you will introduce yourself to Him. He already knows who you are.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Yesterday is but today's memory, and tomorrow is today's dream. Khalil Gibran
Let this quote inspire your blog entry."

Everybody clearly remembers their yesterdays unless they have dementia. So we all look back on yesterday with clear memories. Yesterday is today's memory makes perfect sense. Tomorrow we hope is a good day full of success and prosperity. It may not be but we always hope tomorrow is better than today. So in that sense tomorrow is today's dream.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogsPrompt: "Create an Halloween entry. Let's see how creative you are. "

If Christians realized what Halloween was all about they would avoid it like a plague. Halloween is actually a pagan holiday Christianized by the Catholic church. Many pagans became Christians and then wanted to celebrate the fall solstice and All Hallows Day, which was a pagan celebration of the dead. Rather than have people revert back to their pagan ways the Catholic church compromised and called the day All Saints day to celebrate dead saints. It became Halloween. I want no part of it thank you.

Blog City image small Prompt: “If any help was going to arrive to lift me out of my misery, it would come from the dark side of my personality.” ~ Robert Bly

Do you agree or disagree with Mr. Bly? Do the dark sides of our personality aid us or harm us?"

I'm not going to mince words here. Jesus called the dark part of our personality "sin" and said it was harmful. He said it so that settles it!

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: "We don't stop going to school when we graduate." Carol Burnett Do you agree with this quote?"

I absolutely agree. I am what you might call a professional student. I have spent most of my life in college, including some of the 30+ years I spent in drug addiction. So of course I agree with Carol. I also know that school is not the end of the education. One must read professional journals and take all sorts of continuing education in most fields to stay qualified. In fact my associate degree is obsolete now. I need to restudy the current material if I want a job. So yes education continues.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- I was reading Minja s newsletter this week about noticing newbies and no titles. What did she mean no title? So I read and then thought about my writing. How important is the title when writing? Is it still a story without a title? How do you as authors decide what works?

https://www.writing.com/main/em/box//msg/4646

I think titles are important because they distinguish my story from others. In school I have to use titles on my research papers and essays or they are considered incomplete. I believe titles distinguish my work and mark it as my own. I will continue using them.

I don't want to miss an opportunity to give praise to my Lord Jesus Christ. I currently have my doctors scratching their heads. I was caught up in the Hepatitis A epidemic that has been hitting my area. I had Hep A. My liver was shutting down. I prayed about it and my liver began functioning normally again. My enzymes are back to baseline.

I think Carol is absolutely right. Even God will not change a person if they are unwilling to change. God doesn't want robots. People have to want to be Christians or there will be no change. People have to want to change period or there will be no change. Carol is spot on target.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- Prompt: “Wholeness is not achieved by cutting off a portion of one’s being, but by integration of the contraries.” Carl Jung.

What do you think Jung meant by this statement? Do you agree with him or disagree?"

I agree. I believe he meant that one does not become whole by objecting to everything that comes down the pike but instead we learn to get along. This doesn't mean we conform to everything but rather that we don't outright object to everything. I think that was his meaning.
