This is a place for me to capture thoughts, ideas, snippets of this and bits of that, that don't seem to lend themselves to one of the more traditional item types.

Ever seen a dog chase the dot from a laser pointer? Turns out, our cat likes to do that, too. |

So, I'm sitting in my chair listening to the storm. As I reach for the TV remote, thunder crashes outside.
For my wife's benefit, I jump a bit and let out a small cry. "You can't get a lightning shock through the remote!" she says. "Oh, really?" I reply.
Okay - go write your story. |

Need writing inspiration? Get a cat. Ours does the craziest things. |

Well, my wife's mother died this past Wednesday, and we seem to have inherited her cat. Caesar is... interesting. We'll see how our relationship develops. |

Saw the International Space Station go almost directly overhead a little after 6am local time this morning. Super cool! |

Transparency - it's hard to do. Oh, it's easy to be transparent about some things--how often you eat more than 2 doughnuts at a time, whether or not you make a habit of obeying traffic laws (a bit of risk here, if you're not ), the kinds of books you check out at the library, and so on. True transparency, however, takes commitment and trust.
Imagine giving someone permission to wander into any and every aspect of your life--online and off, at work, at home, wherever. For your part, you have to be committed to staying "inside the lines", and you have to trust that the person to whom you've granted access sees things pretty much the same way you do or that, if a "discrepancy" arises, is willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. Pick the wrong person and, even if your conscience is clear, a misunderstanding can lead to disaster and ruin in your personal and/or professional life.
Nope - not an easy thing to do, at all. |

A little more than 5 1/2 years ago, I bought a 1 TB hard drive for just under $200 US. It has to be plugged into an electrical outlet and is about 7 1/4" x 6 1/4" x 2". This evening, I bought a 1 TB portable drive that plugs into a computer's USB port. It cost less than $50 and is smaller than my daughter's smartphone.
Simply amazing. |

I can't believe it's been 24 years since the Loma Prieta earthquake. I remember picking up one of our twins under each arm; now, I'd be picking up one of our youngest twin's sons under each arm. My, how the time doth fly! |
