DAY 2716: Write a post inspired by this word: Music "We have made it lawful for you to listen to music and singing. Take heed, however, lest listening thereto should cause you to overstep the bounds of propriety and dignity. Let your joy be the joy born of My Most Great Name, a Name that bringeth rapture to the heart, and filleth with ecstasy the minds of all who have drawn nigh unto God. We, verily, have made music as a ladder for your souls, a means whereby they may be lifted up unto the realm on high; make it not, therefore, as wings to self and passion. Truly, We are loath to see you numbered with the foolish." Melodious Echoes Melodious echoes reverberate, Urging our souls to celebrate: Sing the praise of the All-Glorious. Intoning with love God's Most Great Name, Chanting in tones that joy radiates. Footnotes |
Istijlál (Majesty), 16 Jalál (Glory) 177 B.E. Thursday, April 23, 2020 The Fourth Day of Ridvan You can only use one word for the entire day. You can say the word again and again, but just that one word. So, what's your word of the day? Why this word? Word of the Day: Facilitate Facilitate: "to make easier : help bring about"5. In order to facilitate my May 1 telephone consult with my nephrologist6, I went to his office today, so that the phlebotomist7 could draw my blood. Facilitate, a beautiful sounding word, that is easy to pronounce. It rolls off my tongue easily, while rhyming with both congregate and immigrate. Footnotes |

Be silent for 5 minutes with your eyes closed. What do you hear? What regular sounds does your house make that you aren't consciously aware of? Five Minutes of Silence Eyes closed, I listen and I hear the tinnitus in my left ear. I wander why it's called a ringing in the ear, when mine hisses like a tire slowly losing air. I live in a world without silence! The hissing can't hide the noise of the refrigerator, the distant mumble of a television left on all night, or the passing of a car outside my window. |

DAY 2105: What inspires you about April? The King of Festivals "The Divine Springtime is come, O Most Exalted Pen, for the Festival of the All-Merciful is fast approaching. Bestir thyself, and magnify, before the entire creation, the name of God, and celebrate His praise, in such wise that all created things may be regenerated and made new." On "The First Day of Ridvan" , I reflect on past celebrations when social distancing wasn't required and we could celebrate the King of Festivals in both physical and spiritual proximity. I remember, "Celebrating Ridvan" with my mother-- at both the Baha'i Center and in the homes of friends-- on the first day when we would elect a new Local Spiritual Assembly, listen to scripture readings, pray, and socialize. Ridvan, my April inspiration, is the joyous celebration of the 1863 declaration of Baha'u'llah. Footnotes |

Day 2712: “Every day is a good day. There is something to learn, care and celebrate.” ― Amit Ray, Walking the Path of Compassion What can you find to celebrate today? On the First day of Ridvan, Baha'u'llah entered the Garden of Paradise, where-- accompanied by the perfume of roses and the singing of nightingales-- He declared His mission, and prepared for the journey to Constantinople12. "Verily, all created things were immersed in the sea of purification when, on that first day of Ridvan, We shed upon the whole of creation the splendours of Our most excellent Names and Our most exalted Attributes. This, verily, is a token of My loving providence, which hath encompassed all the worlds." These are the Days of Ridvan-- the Days of Paradise-- the King of Festivals, and the most Holy time of the year. Raise your voices in thanksgiving and praise, the promised one has come and the prophesies in the Holy Books is fulfilled. Footnotes |
Jamál (Beauty), 12 Jalál (Glory) 177 B.E. Sunday, April 19, 2020 Last night I began reading The Seven Valleys, page 9 to 53 The Call of the Divine Beloved: Selected Mystical Works of Baha'u'llah. This is the second or third time I've read The Seven Valleys; however, this is a new rendering of the tablet. This translation is based on the original, 1945, translation, with some changes made for "clarity and accuracy."15 I'm not sure how long it will take to read The Seven Valleys because I will reread parts that aren't clear several times before continuing to the next section of the tablet. Prayer to the Manifestation of God O Thou incomparable Temple, I want to understand what little I can of Your mystic sweetness. Notes "excellent Temple"16 refers to the Manifestation of God. Jalál (Glory), 11 Jalál (Glory) 177 B.E. Saturday, April 18, 2020 Today is Saturday! Today is the first day of my week! This is the second entry I've made in this blog. The first entry was " Raining Down" , which was inspired by Rashḥ-i-‘Amá (The Clouds of the Realms Above). I read this poem last night before going to sleep, as a result I dreamed about writing a poem titled "Raining Down." I had such an enjoyable and restful sleep last night that tonight I will begin reading The Seven Valleys.
Staying at Home: Up We Go! Dig Deep. Share your best, most profound uplifting words of wisdom for those who have become disheartened and down. Up We Go! Words Of Wisdom Learn to like yourself! Accept all of your weirdness as uniquely you. Learn to love yourself! There is only one of you, your life has purpose.
Day 2710: Write about either a figurative mountain or a literal mountain. Mountains I live in a valley, surrounded by the spectacular peaks of the Rocky Mountains. I have witness many glorious sunrises and sunsets. Once, when driving to work at dawn, I saw Sunrise Mountain crowned in glory because the rising sun turned the mountain's crest to gold. I have all witness sunset in which fire appeared to rain from the sky. Winter is especially wonderful because I can look up to Mount Charleston to see it crown by snow.
DAY 2104: Use these random words: marine, damn, chauvinist, crew, sulfur, unfix, and edition in your post today. Thoughts on Words Damn: A word I've used too much in my life, it only causes misery and strife. According to the Oxford dictionary a chauvinist is a "person displaying aggressive or exaggerated patriotism" or "displaying excessive or prejudiced support for their own cause, group, or sex"17, which is a very good description of politics and many politicians. Sulfur is a pollinate! Was anyone in my family a Marine? My brothers were both in the Navy. My father served in the Army Air Crop. I'll have to do a little research to find out if any one in the family swerved in the Marine Corp. Unfix isn't a word I could ever use. Once something broke, I encountered problems fixing it much less unfixing it. For some reason, almost every place I have worked one of the managers would refer to the employees as a crew. I've never worked on a ship of any kind, and in most of the places employees or associates was a better description. Edition is a beautiful word. Footnotes |

Istiqlál (Independence), 10 Jalál (Glory) 177 B.E. Friday, April 17, 2020 The Call of the Divine Beloved: Selected Mystical Works of Baha'u'llah “For whereas in days past every lover besought and searched after his Beloved, it is the Beloved Himself Who now is calling His lovers and is inviting them to attain His presence.” The mystical works in this book are The poem Rashḥ-i-‘Amá (The Clouds of the Realms Above) The Seven Valleys From the Letter Bá’ to the Letter Há’ Three Other Tablets The Four Valleys I finished the preface last night. I'm working on a poem inspired by the quote at the beginning of this entry. Listen to the call of the Beloved echoing through the atmosphere calling His lovers to His presence. Footnotes |

Staying at Home: Love Me Tender Share a tender moment you’ve had with a family member or friend during the lockdown time. A moment you’ll treasure when this is all over. My sister called on Wednesday, April 15, to ask how I was doing. We had a pleasant talk about the weather, the lack of activities in Searchlight, and the fact that I still need to get a blood draw before I see Dr. Lim. On Tuesday, April 14, I got a text from my brother about the his DNA results from Ancestry.com. On Wednesday, my roommate fix her specialty French bread pizza. |

Day 2102: Eat. Love. Pray. Use these words I your Blog entry today. I pray "Intone, O My servant, the verses of God that have been received by thee, as intoned by them who have drawn nigh unto Him, that the sweetness of thy melody may kindle thine own soul, and attract the hearts of all men. Whoso reciteth, in the privacy of his chamber, the verses revealed by God, the scattering angels of the Almighty shall scatter abroad the fragrance of the words uttered by his mouth, and shall cause the heart of every righteous man to throb. Though he may, at first, remain unaware of its effect, yet the virtue of the grace vouchsafed unto him must needs sooner or later exercise its influence upon his soul. Thus have the mysteries of the Revelation of God been decreed by virtue of the Will of Him Who is the Source of power and wisdom." I meditate on the four types love as spoken of by 'Abdu'l-Baha in Paris Talks2223: The love of God for humanity; The love of humanity for God: The love of God for His own Identity; The love of the individual human being for another human or other humans. I eat to live! To experience another day of prayer, and of God's love. Footnotes |

Optional Bonus Mystery Prompt In the spirit of saving the best for last, let's explore life's greatest mystery - What awaits us in the after-life? My spiritual being believes in eternal life, but scientifically speaking I struggle with the concept. "And now concerning thy question regarding the soul of man and its survival after death. Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty. The movement of My Pen is stilled when it attempteth to befittingly describe the loftiness and glory of so exalted a station...." No one can know for sure precisely what awaits the soul after its separation from the physical body. On the material plane, the soul is in partnership with the physical body. This can be likened to the child in its mother's womb where it acquires the physical attributes it needs to survive on the material/physical plane. While the soul is in partnership with the physical body, it acquires the spiritual attributes it will need to prosper and thrive in the spiritual world. Once the soul is separated from the physical body it is clothed in the spiritual attributes it acquired and practiced on the material plane. At the point of physical death, the soul ascends into the spiritual world and moves through the spiritual world toward the Creator. What the spiritual world, which some call heaven, looks like is unknown. Each of the Manifestations of God have given hints of its appearance, but none of them--not even Baha'u'llah (the latest Divine Manifestation)--have given concrete descriptions of it. I believe that after death my soul will ascend into the Abha Paradise{footnote:#}The Bahai name for heaven./footnote}, and continue its movement toward God. Footnotes |

Staying at Home: Wall Talk These walls are made for talkin’! The popcorn’s poppin’ and we’re all rubbing our hands together in anticipation of what we’re about to read. We’re ready for the whole story, no matter how funny! Are ya ready, walls? Start talkin! Apartment walls are paper thin and let all the outside noises in. They speak to those who listen with anticipation to the memories concealed beneath layers of off-white paint. Walls cannot keep secrets, they hear with invisible ears, they speak with invisible mouths, they whisper about the fears of their present and their past inhabitants.. Walls air everyone's dirty laundry, they intone the wishes and hopes of the neighborhood. |

5 DAY Andre the Blog Monkey's April Fools Mystery Writing Challenge Blog Prompt for Day 5 Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery. Think about your future, short-term then long-term, is it all a mystery or fairly predictable, share your findings in today's blog entry. Thank you for playing along in this 5 Day Challenge. I enjoyed it so much I'm adding a BONUS PROMPT for Day 5.1 (April 15th) I was going to release the prompt in this post, but then thought, No! I'll leave it a mystery. I inhale the fragrance of life, And give thanks for another day. Life, like the universe, if full of mysteries, miracles, and hope. You can't be sure when you go to bed if you'll wake up in the morning. You hope you will wake up, so you take that hope as a concrete expectation. You can't be sure when you wake up if you'll live through another day, you hope you will, but you can't be sure. Each day you live you hope and expect to live another day, but there is no guarantee. I listen to sparrows sing I watch palm tree shadows dance In morning's wind |

Andre's Stone Ball Challenge ** Image ID #2218952 Unavailable ** Hundreds of these large stone spheres are scattered across the Costa Rican jungle and are thought to have been constructed by prehistoric humans. For years, they have baffled scientists and archaeologists as to why they are there and how they were built. The spheres range up to 2.4 meters (8 ft) in diameter and are almost perfectly round. 5 DAY Andre the Blog Monkey's April Fools Mystery Writing Challenge Blog Prompt for Day 4 - Andre the Blog Monkey helped me out with today's prompt. Andre sometimes drinks vodka to a point where he talks of stone ball drinking parties in the jungles of Costa Rica. I looked it up and it's a legit thing. I asked> Andre about the stone balls but he doesn't remember much about anything. Andre will name a drink in the bar after the blogger who writes the best explanation of ... The Mystery of the Stone Balls of Costa Rica Dragon Eggs The Stone Balls of Costa Rica are fossilized dragon eggs. When dragons inhabited Earth, in the distant past, they migrated to Costa Rica and the ocean around it to mate and lay their eggs. After the eggs were laid, two or three of t he golden females would remain to take care of the eggs. In order for the eggs to properly hatch, they had to be turned once a day. Sometimes one of the females would miss turning an egg, which caused the egg to fossilize and not hatch. We hope the eggs are all fossilized. There is a rumor or a myth that every millennia or so, one of the eggs hatches and releases either a bronze male or a gold female dragon. Any egg an unmated female lays is infertile and therefore will fossilizes. Fortunately, at least for the human race, dragons only live a few hundred years. This means that the bronze or the gold dragon will die before it can mate with another dragon. Any dragons seen by humans are chalked up to either UFOs or someone being drunk. The biggest danger is two eggs hatching about the same time and releasing a gold female and a bronze male. |

5 DAY Andre the Blog Monkey's April Fools Mystery Writing Challenge Blog Prompt for Day 3 - In today's mystery blog challenge you'll write a detailed description of a MURDER scene. Da - Da - Daaaa You'll have a victim and a cast of suspects, including possible murder weapons, motive, etc. End your entry with this challenge to your readers. "It's up to you to solve this murder in a comment on my entry." Merit Badges will be awarded to the best MURDER scene and the best solution to the mystery. Nobody leave the building! Murder is always so messy, and its never the obvious suspect that commits the crime. "Murder is always so messy," Inspector Clouseau said, as he looked around the room. "Nobody leave the building! Especially those who have blood on their hands, which," he look down at his own bloodstained hands, "would appear to be everyone in this room." He took a handkerchief out of his suit pocket and wiped the blood from his hands. Looking down at the body of mrs. Amanda Harcord, he shook his head. "Of course, the obvious suspect is Mrs. Harcord's husband Glen. However, since Mr. Harcord isn't in this room or even in the building, he's probably innocent. The next obvious suspect is Jeeve3s, the butler, but that's way too obvious. Besides Mrs. Harcord just tripled his salary, so he's not going to kill the goose that laying the golden eggs." Taking a magnifying glass out of his coat picket, he walked around the room studying the blood stains on the walls. He returned to the body, knelt beside it, and--being careful not to leave any finger prints--removed the letter opener sticking out of Mrs. Harcord's chest. He studied it closely, and replaced it in the exact spot he removed it. He stood up, walked over to the professional gigolo Marco St. James, and said. "I arrest you, Mr. St. James, for the murder of Mrs. Amanda Harcord." "How... How did you know?" "That's simple Mr. St. James, when I came into the room you shook hands with me, which is how I got blood on my hands. The other suspects got blood on their hands when they moved the body from the couch to the floor. They moved the body to distract me from the real suspect, and because you were blackmailing them with embarrassing photos. |

Bermuda Triangle Over the last 500 years, ships and airplanes have gone missing inside a triangular section of the North Atlantic Ocean called the Bermuda (or Devil's) Triangle. This mysterious area is bounded by the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda; Miami, Florida, U.S.; and the American territory of Puerto Rico. The earliest article to reference a disappearance was in The Miami Herald in 1950. However, the "Bermuda Triangle" itself was coined by Vincent Gaddis in a 1964 article. Since then, scientists and amateurs have floated various theories - from sea monsters to unidentified flying objects (UFOs) - but nobody has been successful in decoding the mystery. 5 DAY Andre the Blog Monkey's April Fools Mystery Writing Challenge Blog Prompt for Day 2 - I for one have always been interested in the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. I like to ponder possible explanations for what it is. Think about it for a few moments, then share your possible (or improbable) explanation. If there is another mystery you'd rather share your thoughts on, that's okay too. We live in a universe full of mysteries! "You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into… the Twilight Zone." Rod Serling We live in a universe full of mysteries! Mysteries that can only be solved through an unfettered search for truth and the use of our imagination. The Bermuda Triangle: An Artifact of Atlantis The Bermuda Triangle is an artifact of the lost continent of Atlantis, which--despite rumors to the contrary--was located in the Atlantic ocean in what is now called the Bermuda or Devil's Triangle. The Atlanteans created the Artifact for the purpose of helping them travel to different planets and other dimensions. Unfortunately, the Artifact had some unforeseen and dangerous side-effects. One of the side-effects was time travel, while another caused earthquakes. These earthquakes eventually destroyed Atlantis, but not the Artifact. When Atlantis was destroyed, the Artifact was left on. As a results, the Artifact periodically and at random intervals powers up. When the Artifact powers up it transports ships or planes to other dimensions or somewhere else in space and time. |

5 DAY Andre the Blog Monkey's April Fools Mystery Writing Challenge Blog Prompt for Day 1 - When mystery surrounds an object, that object then becomes a clue. Have you ever discovered a mysterious item, which became a clue to an investigation? Tell us about what you found and where the investigation led to. This happened in 2012, a few months before my mother died. She was sitting on the couch in the living room and began to cry. I ask her what was bothering her, and she said her grandfather had run away with a young woman. I couldn't get any more information out of her. I suspect she was referring to the only grandfather she remembered. Mom always said he had a long white beard. I would like to know more about this, but everyone who knew anything about it is long dead. Another mystery I would like solved is the reason for my Uncle Roy Newland's (I think it was Uncle Roy) divorce. The marriage lasted long enough to produce a child, who was adopted by one of his sisters. I know my great uncle never married again. I don't know what happened to his wife, or why they gave the daughter to his sister to raise. My parents and grandparents were raised at a time when family scandals were spoken of in whispers, and not around young children or even the following generation of adults. |
