The first and last stanza seem to be good bookends to the center... the children. This evokes emotions related to marriage, relationships, lack of communication, and that desire to remember the good in the center. I appreciated your thoughts, and images.
This poem was touching, brought up memories of longing for one special person. I liked your use of the comparison to an old book on the shelf, unread. It reminds me that though you write that you have not read the book, the second half of the poem lives out the story in the "book of love." Enjoyable, and evocative.
