Hello Carly, well written. I love the choice of topic; the blood curdling image of the Jack o Lantern, so familiar at Halloween. Your closing words capture the reader in a death grip
death calls you here
It traps you deep and sucks you dry
Struggle against it, or you die

Review of Day 16 - 2.11.13

That was an imaginative romp Fyn. It feels like you left nothing out to chance which lead to your ending of wishing to be an elf on an upper shelf where all the fun starts. There is no need for a cubicle for the likes of you. Yet there are ferns, dragon, griffons and much more you will find nowhere else. TX for sharing.

Hello Gupta, at first glance I thought your sonnet silly, and yet as I continued reading I had my own wake up call. The end stays with me: "Why give knowledge to someone who thinks it fake." There is quite a bit of wisdom to be gleaned. Thanks for sharing.wise.
"But learning itself seems to be bankrupt
When men of learning prefer to close eyes."

Hello Tim, a very curious choice of words to express a picture of God's love with words as your paint brush. A restful closing is the goal, prefaced by dreams, poise being offered in the form of prayer. I would like to know more about what this poise means and a clearer understanding of what advantageous craft means in relation to kingdom. Is it a vehicle or skill set. Thanks for sharing.

A nice bit for me to chew on isokarifrancis, I hear the voice that nags at my own soul: a weariness that makes me want to lie down and give up to save myself frustration and disappointment. I am glad you leave it up to weariness to give message. There is hope.

Hello Rhyssa, I enjoyed the many ways that you were able to let your hair spring out. The image of bird to flight, warriors helmet, scorpions sting, the caress of sunlight in aging process. Even in the end of your poem it becomes obvious you made friends with your hair however long it was. TX for sharing

Hello Jays, it does look like you were able to provide an environment in which your son could succeed. I wondered how the education of your husband and yourself may have facilitated his success. I liked that you applaud what he does well and offer times of recreation. Spirituality is important. I did note one tense structure that was inconsistent. The sentence that says sends and pressed. Tx

Review of The Phone

It is all about who has the phone as to how it is to be approached. At the end of a day the only thing that makes sense is to watch it fly out the window as if it has wings. The realization is there. No matter what I do it is not good enough. Thanks for sharing, clever.

Hello Tim, seems appropriate in the light of all the media about January 6th. The ending is prophetic. There is a sense in which promises being broken meaning trust is betrayed and how do we learn to trust again. It seems to be where we are at as a nation. Republicans and Democrats looking in the mirror unable to trust which is not good for our country going forward.

Hello Tim, I gravitate to the ending of your poem. There can be I would say "splendid" and grateful life ahead when one knows the power of a caring presence when losing someone you love. I could quibble with other wording. "Sheriff of absolutism" and yet I need to add the way you word things is what makes the poem uniquely yours. Thanks for sharing. I leave your poem knowing that because you know hope I can know it too!!

Hello GB Williams, a lot to think about. I am left wondering who wants the perfect life? And human nature says we do the best we can to shape our narrative in that direction, where I can play a hero or at least be in the same conversation of someone I love and admire. I guess we all do the best we can with what we have. My perfect life was getting lost and found in New Hampshire woods. I yelled for God, no one else would listen. So that story has always been there for me. So in a sense surviving one predicament after another. Define perfect.lol

Review of Journal 1, page 1

Hello Alexz, very sobering account of what happens when one deals with the s***ty feelings that do not want to go away. Journalling has an ability to be therapeutic. How do I buy into a process. As the journal says in subtle unspoken way. Just because I am not happy does not mean one day I will not awaken to happiness at a deeper level. Thanks for sharing. It's kind of like learning how to deal with s*** in a way to make it manure.

I enjoy the dramatic realism of your poem that awakes me out of slumber. I was reminded of how drastically my own life changed when as a youth I was put in a State hospital never to go home again. It could never be the same and yet the memories you talk of keep me alive as I move into my seventies doing all I can to give those with special needs a second chance.

Hello Finch, TX for the good word in patriotic color of red white and blue. You poem well rhymed and flowing reads like prophecy. The villains pay dearly and those who died serve as a reminder that freedom comes at a cost and yes it is worth it. Thanks for sharing. I knew some fire fighters and chaplain involved in redeeming from the wreckage.

Hello Hunter's moon, I love the rhyme and cadence, the professional nature of your poem. You go to extraordinary lengths to credit those who inspire and then find an eloquent way to do so. I feel lead to your conclusion to trust the journey acknowedging by sands lit to final night. Thank you for sharing. I feel richer having read your work.

Review of I Am The Unknown

Hello Dawn Embers, what an awesome witness. I can recall my Dad in a similar way. He worked a lot of hours in a factory as an unknown. He lived in the shadow of my mom who was always sharing about the importance of faith over works. My dad was a quiet man, who was there when I needed him most. I hope I can be that same caring presence for others. I thank God for you and others like you who choose to be unknown.

Hello Queen Norma, I love the way your article flows with appreciation for the town you live. It feels like more than a place to live, it is a calling. I am a person who loves to walk. I found myself walking by the river and on into the mountains. Thanks for sharing. I learned some history and hope one day to visit.

Hello Mr. Sox Rox, I enjoyed your explanation about abstract, or sound poetry without knowing there is such a thing. So I guess there is a place where rhyme and rhythm can dwell together. So I listen for sounds as they rhymically make their way into my world. It could make for a worthy meditation/mantra and song. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Lou here, the timing of your free verse poetry. I just got back from a trip to Kansas and never have I felt so bored and restless than part of my trek from Terre Haute to Indianapolis. I must of gone no more than three miles in one hour and I am sure it can get worse. Tx for poem it made me feel a lot less alone!

Hello BScholl, I enjoyed how the tale was spun around the phrase you can't always believe what you see. In the next breath I am face to face with aliens who accidentally let one of there own escape in a transporter and he eats brains. I enjoy also the way you describe Mr. Pinkerton and allude to violence with a gun. Yet I wonder how do we know these aliens are violent to begin with. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Norma, a curious piece that left me with a lot of unanswered questions. The title is Job Wanted and in the beginning I am faced with someone looking for a job in a multilingual context. In the next breath there is a lightning strike. I left curious wondering how the two are tied together. Thanks for sharing.

Well Norma Jean, a reminder of the mystery that is life. George becomes the one gifted with leaves to take after a warm wind melts the snow. I enjoyed the way you personified the wind. It brought a spiritual component to the forefront. It left me wondering about how God provides in any circumstances.

Hello isokarifrancis, I like the quirky way that you look at vocation and call. It comes across as a fail safe remedy for anything that might get in the way. "Dare devil destiny stoppers and destroyers". Kind of like saying if God is for us who can be against us?

Hey Beholden, I love the contrast that you bring to the table in this seventeen syllable poem. It reads like the rhythm a machine gun obloquy, which forces me to find my dictionary to get the meaning. Then silenced by the compliment feels like a gift. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Cubby, thanks for the reality check. The cha ching mantra can knock the wind out of our sails. In a sense life is a gamble. Whether it is my labor, stocks, tithes gambling in general I am faced with something more valuable to than money, namely my appreciation of myself that no money can buy.
