Review of You're Not Sorry
Rated: E | (5.0)
Hello Viki,

First I'd like to congratulate you on your WDC anniversary! This review is in honor of your special day.

You did a really good job of drawing me into the emotional rollercoaster of a teenage girl. The emotions expressed were so easy to understand and share with you (the character). Then, you showed vividly the mood change as she went from lonely and determined to beyond pissed, hurt, and wanting to lash out. Afterward, the uncertainty, the self-doubt, the lingering shadows of love, it is all expressed eloquently and openly for the reader. It is easy to see you paid attention to detail and put 100% of yourself into what you wrote. At the end, it just made me, the reader want to hug you, the character and tell you everything would be OK.

Write on, and again, Happy Anniversary!

Review of Shopping
Rated: E | (3.5)
I could not agree with you more! Shopping can also become addictive and out of control easily, which would also lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. You make some really good points here in this essay. I would love to see you write more on this subject. Welcome to WDC by the way!

Review of Childcare

This essay makes very good points and you use very good persuasive information. You are right in all these aspects you point out. I would encourage you to edit a little more, and maybe consider adding a source or two to back up those wonderful points you make. I enjoyed reading this very much.

What a wonderful story! I loved your vivid details and you captured the precociousness of the girls perfectly. It was so easy to see the story play out in my mind. I could practically hear the waves of the water. This would be perfect to read to a child who gets lonely or one who has an imaginary friend and gets teased. I enjoyed reading this very much.

This has a very sad, empty feel to it. While on the surface, one might think wow, the trampoline is well-liked, what kid doesn't like jumping on one? But, if you look closer, you see it is only being used as a toy, not a companion or friend. Interesting comparison.

Isn't it amazing how the seemingly simple things are what sticks with us as we get older and start that tendency to meander down memory lane? Our Thanksgivings meant people were always going to be showing up at our place, Mom refused to travel during holidays. There was the time when all us kids were nine and under..it was raining and we were in south texas...so that particular Thanksgiving it was HOT outside and even hotter inside with all the cooking going on. We wanted to play outside and Mom said NO, don't get your clothes all dirty. Well, next thing ya know, Mom hears her house guest laughing like crazy. She walks in to see her children and the other children butt naked playing out in the rain! Splashing in the mud puddles! Our excuse? Mom, you didn't say we couldn't go out and play, you said, don't get your clothes dirty! There was the time, my mom had the kitchen window wide open to let the heat out of the kitchen. The window was right above the sink. She walks in and screams...there with his head stuck as far in as possible was my sister's horse, helping himself to the salads and pies Mom had left on the counter!

Yep, you sure can't beat those memories with family and holidays lol

This gave me goosebumps reading it. You hooked me quickly and kept me nibbling at the bait til the very end. It was dramatic and fast-paced with plenty of good descriptions. At some point, I believe we all get that moment when we have to choose if we take that offered second chance or not. Where we have to choose to either stand up and confront a fear or let it control us.

A very beautiful reminder to live to the fullest while you can and to remember it's not what you leave in this world, but what you build in the one to follow. I love the imagery you used and how you drew the picture in my mind with your well-chosen words.

Review of Christmas 2019
Rated: E | (5.0)
This was a lot of fun, even tho it is May of 2020! I just find it hard to pass up anything Christmasy no matter what time of year it is. I got them all correct except I have NO Idea what a sleigh's landing gear is called. Thank you for a fun reminder that Christmas is never out of season!

Richard, I love this SO much! The whole reason I asked for bitem format submissions is due to what you have so wonderfully explained. It was to give readers and judges a good understanding as to what to expect when they clicked the link. It also presented the judges with something more to base their impressions/judgments. I WISH we'd had this at the very start!

I love getting my orders by mail! Even before this virus, I have been basically a shut-in here at home. Walmart, Amazon, and Chewy have all made going to brick and mortar stores a thing of the past. Now, I get the bulk of my monthly supplies by mail. The fresh foods I need, I still pick out via online and set up a pickup time and a Walmart employee brings it all right out to my car and loads it in the back for me. Who in their right mind would spend valuable time wandering the isles of stores, standing in lines, and dealing with parking?

Once upon a time, there was a young boy who loved Hubba Bubba Bubble Gum. Every day, he would take his allowance, hope on his blue racer bike and speed to the 7 Eleven. One day, the store was completely out of his favorite Hubba Bubba Bubble gum. Because of that, tears welled in his hazel eyes and his head sagged sadly downward. Until finally, his attention was drawn to something he'd never noticed before. Whoa, when did someone start putting bubble gum with baseball cards? His young heart galloped in his chest as he excitedly grabbed a pack and quickly paid for it. Right then and there on the store sidewalk, he tore into the packaging. The scent of bubblegum wafted up and without hesitation, he shoved the whole piece into his mouth and chewed with great satisfaction. Wow, this was GREAT! He got gum AND a baseball card! As he contentedly blew his first bubble, he read all about some ballplayer named Babe Ruth.

Ah, long-suffering and patience. Fruits of the Spirit that have taken me many years to overcome. They are not easy and it takes much prayer still, for me to keep them in check daily!

This is a really relevant thought for these times we are in right now. All around me I hear people moaning and groaning and complaining, and in truth, there is absolutely nothing I can think to complain about! God has provided my every need and I have no doubt he shall continue doing so. Rather than suffering worry or doubt, I can spend my time soothing and comforting others and shining the light of God's truth to them.

God bless you!

Review of Act As If
Rated: E | (4.0)
There is profound loneliness that the first part of your poem evokes in the reader. Then, every so gradually to turn the tide and start shooting threads of hope into the picture. I admire your use of subtlety and before long, the reader feels strength and hope surging through your words. I love the vivid imagery you used as well. Write On!
