Wonderland - Version 2024

C2 The Dodo

I gather with several friends, for the Wonderland 2K. When that notice appeared a few weeks ago, we messaged each other, and decided we all would take part in the 2024 Caucus Race - the Annual Wonderland Run for Nothing. No prizes - not even a participation medal - just a fun time with friends.

I’ve known some of these fine people from all my years on WDC, some from my tenure on the OctoPrep challenge, and some just by name alone. But since we are such a friendly bunch here on WDC, it was a unanimous decision to take part in this race.

The starting gun fires and off we go…
Valentine Princess Megan Rose and Jayne are in the early lead, being moderators, but soon Random Queen ☮ and Christmas Dutchessbarbie are on their heels. The rest of us are stumbling, hopping, skipping, fumbling our way toward the finish line. A few stop along the way to jot down notes, stories in the making, or blog posts for our future perusal.

Suddenly here sprints Jeff past the lot of us, not a drop of sweat, not breathing hard, as fast as Usain Bolt. I swear there are flames shooting out from his running shoes!

Round and round we run, with nowhere in particular to go. Nothing in particular to see but the other person running in front of you, beside you, across from you in the lanes. Eventually someone yells ‘STOP!”

Everyone does stop. We huddle in a group, scared of what this means.

iKïyå§ama hollers again. “Everyone get to your computers and finish your assignments for "Wonderland"  Why are you out here running around like maniacs??? You have work to do, you silly pawns!”
