Chapter #5

You wake up in a hospital.

    by: Trigger Author IconMail Icon
You hear the chatter of voices from a muffled distance and the light clanking of metal. Opening your eyes to a bright white light, you look about and take in fairly quickly that you're in a hospital. 'A hospital eh? I guess that pain was real.' You echo in your head. If you had the strength you would jump out of bed to ask questions or at least you assume you would.

You briefly strew your gaze over her but it wasn't until now that you begin to focus on the woman doctor who has been staring at you for as long as you have been conscious. She looks to be about 40, curly blond hair and a pretty large nose.

"You awake this time or do you plan on just mumbling and falling back to sleep again?" She asks, her hand already prompt to write down anything you say. Your voice cracks as you speak but unlike usual, it seems to stay at a higher level. "Ah, yeah, I'm awake." You tell her through your haze.

"How are you feeling?" She asks. You find it a good question as you haven't even had time to think about it. You push yourself up a little bit on the bed and take a brief look at yourself but find no oddities that weren't hidden by the white blanket.

"Hungry, tired and my whole body feels a bit... itchy or tingly rather I guess." You tell her, a small chuckle accompanying your abrupt ask for food.

"I see. And just to confirm your name is?" She questions. You can only assume she is going down the usual book procedure and don't question the confirmation of your identity. "Jason Farfield." Is your response. You notice she seems a bit intrigued in a way by your name which you find a bit odd. You bring a hand to your brow and begin rubbing a bit to try and force the small headache away. You become a bit entranced in the simplicity of your action, finding the skin texture a bit strange, even your eyebrows felt strange to you as you rubbed your head. Vis versa seems true as well, your hands felt different against your head and as you further the position of your hand you begin to notice why. Your hands seem small and by no means as pronounced as you are used to. They seem in a way dainty, even the nails seem to shine as if you had polished them. You shake your head in stupidity of the random inspection of your person but only find more oddities as long hair swiftly takes place in front of you-- even if only for a moment before receding. You grab it and feel it, it's soft and gentle and amazingly attached to your scalp.

"What is this? How long have I been out?" You abruptly ask the doctor. She takes a seat next to the bed. "You were brought in earlier today at about 10 A.M. Your teacher and a student came with you on the ambulance and provided us with some... interesting descriptions." She replies.

"Earlier today? Then why is my hair-- what kind of descriptions?" You ask, lifting yourself off the back of the bed. She flips through some of the pages of her notes before quoting your teacher...

"He started screaming and I found him writhing in pain on his desk. His whole body was moving and eventually he started to look different. He looked like the principal's daughter, Mary Turner." Your mouth is gaping and you begin to feel a bit queasy. "That's a joke right? You're telling me I look like Mary?" You scoff.

"I didn't get to talk to her much but the student who came with you was Mary. I must say, you do look just like her. If it wasn't for the hard evidence that the Turner family has no twin daughters, I would say this was all an elaborate joke. Couple that with your D.N.A matching exactly to Mary's and you have yourself a complete clone. That and leaving me speechless, I've never seen or heard of anything like this and I've been a doctor for 25 years." She tells you but only leaves you stunned. The lights flicker a little as you shake your head back and forth with an uncomfortable smile.

"This has to be a joke. Sure, I have long hair for some reason but there is no way I'm Mary's twin." You spout, more to try and convince yourself than her. However, the oddities all seem to be spiraling in on you as you take notice of the empty feeling between your legs. The feeling only furthers as you look into every metal object in the room to find distorted reflections of Mary. You try to get out of bed but cringe from the aches of your body and merely stumble back into the pillow.

"This can't be..." You say as you stare at the ceiling in a brief recollection. "What about my parents?" You ask suddenly.

"They are in the hospital. It took quite awhile to convince them that you are their son." She informs you. If you really look like Mary than you find it to no surprise that they would be skeptical.

"Can I get something to eat? My stomach is killing me." You ask in your weak disposition.

"Sure." She says, getting up. She leaves the room, hopefully to get your food, leaving you alone.

You stare up at the ceiling some more, hoping to blind yourself in the dim but numerous lights. "Mary huh? I guess if I'm Mary than I have her cute face, melodic voice and her hair-- which always parts in the middle, arcing high to fall at either side of her face and drifting lovely to her shoulders. Yeah right!" You dabble to yourself with a joking tone of both anger and fright. Fright that perhaps this is not as false as your common sense deems it.

A nurse eventually comes into the room and gives you some food which you happily devour. You feel as though you haven't eaten for weeks and the lingering hunger doesn't subside until your meal is almost finished. "Ah, so this is what actually having an empty stomach is like." You say to yourself. You stretch your arms high and to the sides, taking notice of the slim and quite either boyish or girlish features. "Not a spec of hair on them, let alone any muscle. Not that I was particularly hairy or jacked before but this is ridiculous." You observe.

You do wear a thin smile just from the relief of all the inner turmoil subsiding from your body's delight of having food to digest and energy to create. You decide to try your best to stand and find that the energy is there but the balance is not. You stumble and wobble about, grasping every medical object around you to steady yourself. You gaze down at yourself in disappointment and frustration. "Well let's just see if this is real..." You say as you bring a hand to your chest, surprisingly feeling a more plump version of your own chest. "O--oh..."

You peer beneath your loose garment to see two breasts-- which to you, look enormous but you have seen Mary from a third person before, she is more about a double B than anything else. "Still..." You begin to say as you continue to gaze at the two foreign attachments to your being. "They seem bigger in person."

The door swings open and you quickly disperse both your hands behind your back but nearly fall in response from the sudden lack of support. You gather your standing and focus on the doctor who has returned.

"Feeling better now that you have eaten?" She asks with a delicate smile.

"Very much so." You respond with a dim-witted smile or so you assume. Not until now have you noticed but you do hear the melodic voice more and more as you speak. 'I guess I really do have her voice. Guess I just needed some water to hear it better.' You assume.

"That's good to hear. While we as medical enthusiasts would love to keep you here and run tests on your very unusual case. You're free to go home if you're feeling fine. We just ask that if you feel anything odd that you call us and let us know." She explains.

You feel a bit pained by the response. "Wait wait wait. I turn into my classmate apparently-- a girl no less and you're telling me to just go home? Live my life?" You ask with a fiery tone. She shuffles her papers around a tad, perhaps her nervous inkling. "I'm sorry. I would like to say we know how this happened but we've already run several tests while you were asleep. This is a medical mystery at the moment and the first case we've ever heard of. However, your parents are the ones who stressed that you be released today. I would of liked for you to at least stay for a week or so." She conveys to you.

"Sounds more like magic to me." You jest with a sour lip. She laughs and responds with "I agree."

You look around the room and then at yourself, finding your bare legs and open back gown a bit too revealing even if you are a girl now. "So, I'm fine with going home but I don't suppose you have something that will fit me?" You ask. She points to a pile of clothes on a shelf which you are a bit embarrassed about not noticing. "Mr.Turner brought those in, I assume they are some of his daughter's clothing." She explains.

You shiver at the thought of the principal being involved in this. His giant stature has always been a bit of an intimidating factor, you always found him to be a bit of a drill sergeant in his strict and direct mannerisms. "So, Mary and the principal know about this? I wonder how that will go over..." You say-- more to yourself than her.

She smiles and responds despite your dislocated gaze. "Mr.Turner seemed a bit angry about it and Mary looked to be a bit more shocked than anything."

"Ah, goody..." You grumble.

You get yourself dressed in the clothing Mr.Turner brought, embarrassingly getting help from the doctor. "T--this has to be a joke!" You shout as you place the small pink hoodie over your head. "Skin tight jeans and a shirt that fairs no better and a pink tiny hoodie? Mr.Turner did this on purpose to embarrass me!" You rant. The woman laughs at your reaction and commends your good spirits. "At least you're fine in personality." She says. You smile a bit embarrassingly and look away in a blush. "Heh..."

"Your parents are in the waiting room, they have been for a few hours." She tells you abruptly.

"Oh, alright. I guess I'll be on my way then." You say as you begin to exit the room. You stop yourself for a moment and look at the woman. "By the way, what's your name?" You ask. She jumps a bit and scratches her head with a perplexed look. "I can't believe I didn't tell you. Kimberly Louvcha." She says.

"Ah, thanks for being such a nice doctor." You tell her. She reels her head forward a bit and wears a gentle smile. "Well, well, you're quite mature for your age and you're welcome. Now run along." She teases.

You feel a bit nervous as you close the distance between you and your parents. "I wonder how this will go over..."
