This choice: Helen and Sylvia were going away, leaving Christina in charge • Go Back... "It's a bit of a last minute thing, but I was chatting with my sister Sylvia on the phone yesterday and we decided to go on a short trip for a few days," Cameron's mom explained. "We figured it's been a while since you and your sisters have seen your cousins so you three will be staying at Sylvia's while we're gone and looking after Zoe and Kaylie."
"But Mom I wanted to do stuff with my friends this week," Cam protested. "Can't just Anna and Christina go?"
"Cameron, it's summertime," his mom replied somewhat sternly. "You will have plenty of time to spend with your friends when we get back. And Zoe and Kaylie will be disappointed if they don't get to see you."
Cam let out a sigh. His younger cousins could be a bit much at times, but he did enjoy spending time with them in moderation. And he supposed his mom had a point; he could hang out with his friends whenever. "Okay, I'll go," he agreed.
"Good," Helen replied. "Now go and get yourself packed so we don't end up running late."
"Right," Cam said before heading back to his room to pack. He grabbed a bag and threw a few days' worth of clothes into it, then played some video games until it was time to go. When his mom told him it was time to go, he threw his shoes on and headed down to the car.

After an uneventful ride over to Sylvia's, the Brewers spent the next hour or so catching up with their family as it had been a while since they had seen each other. Cam's mom was right that Zoe and Kaylie were very happy to see him, though they were happy to see all of them.
It was just after lunchtime when Cam's mom and aunt left for their trip. Sylvia gave them a quick rundown of where the important stuff was located in the house and made sure they all had what they needed for the next few days. As the oldest, Christina was being left in charge, so Sylvia left her a few extra instructions like getting the mail every day and some other household tasks.
"Remember, just call if you need anything," Sylvia said as they headed out the door.
"We'll be fine," Christina assured her. "Have a nice trip."
Helen and Sylvia soon departed, leaving the five children to themselves. From where he sat on the couch, Cameron glanced around the room at what the girls were up to.
Christina was still standing by the door, checking something on her phone. She was wearing a grey tank top, lavender yoga pants, and a pair of black flip flops.
Anna, meanwhile, was sitting beside him, reading the book she had brought with her. She was wearing an aquamarine cami top and a light blue denim skirt. The white slip-on sandals she had worn today were sitting on the floor next to the couch.
Zoe and Kaylie were sitting on the other couch talking about what to do. Zoe's outfit consisted of a white t-shirt with a unicorn on it, a pleated pink skirt, and pair of white knee socks, while Kaylie had on a sleeveless pink top with thin straps and a cute cartoon cat face on it and a pair of white denim shorts over pink tights.
"So it's just us now," Christina said as she walked over and plopped down onto the couch next to Cameron.
"Yeah, guess so," said Cameron, glancing over at his older sister as she grabbed the TV remote and began flipping through the channels for something to watch. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
