You just nodded with a slight a smile and left shaking your head. You knew what Jenny meant about knowing the right people but going from there to "running the workers" sounded like a bit of a stretch. You quickly refocused on making a good impression to your manager Kim, knowing that as long as you behaved in a professional way you shouldn't have any trouble becoming gossip fodder.
But then again, that's exactly why you had to remain on Jenny's good side, any wrong move and who knews if she would just decide to spill the beans about your fetish which in your fantasies led to exciting scenarios probably worth writing about, but in reality? it would most likely mean you would be fired on the spot. You trusted Jenny enough to know her revealing your fetish was more paranoia than anything else but still, you might want to have a chat with her later about not being greeted as a foot boy.
"Oh, is it you James? Come in!" Kim said as you approached her office, and stepped out of her desk in order to greet you. You stammered for a second but quickly recovered, and you also couldn't help but look down for a second when the opportunity presented itself to check out her footwear, what looked to be an expensive brand of black platforms. You have already met your manager from the previous interview, but she was still a striking beauty, specially for someone who is 42 years old.
"Don't be nervous James! I know the first day is hard but you'll adapt in no time!" Kim said encouragingly which helped you focus and make some small talk about your training and what you hoped to learn at the company before asking for the supervisor as Jenny recommended
"Of course, sorry but things have been a bit hectic and we haven't had time to polish the onboarding process" Kim apologized "In fact, there's another girl that should be starting out with you too"
Kim invited you to sit down while she went back to her desk and checked something in her computer.
"It seems everyone is equally busy, hmm.. Tell me, have you met your other coworkers yet?"
"I only know Jenny, was hoping to get to know everyone after meeting you" You explained and she made a slight acknowledgement noise, apparently it wasn't the answer she wanted to hear but it was no big deal either
"I see.. Well I don't usually do this but I'll give you some options.. You can get good lessons from our most senior employee in Jacinta or try helping our top performer Denise"
"Sorry for asking but why do I have the option?" you blurted out curiously, it was quite unusual. From what your friends who started at other jobs told you, they got a supervisor the moment they joined the company.
"Don't worry, it's a good question. Everyone has similar workload currently and I'm sure either option will work fine" Kim smiled at you before adding "Hell, as things stand I can take you temporarily if you want! or if you're unsure we can just wait, and you can meet everyone in the office while I wait for the other employee and see if we can have a more formal onboarding." Kim said apologetically, knowing the situation wasn't the ideal but willing to trade it off giving you some autonomy in your decision which was quite nice
