Your instincts screamed at your to flee, but you were too shocked and terrified to even move a muscle, much less break into a sprint. Besides, the serpent is so unimaginably large compared to you that any move you could make to defy her would be futile. Now that she has you in her sights, you could only hope to placate the giant snake, and pray that her intentions are pure. She didn’t really seem malevolent, though she had a strange, mischievous glint in her eyes, as if she might be toying with you.
“I-I’m sorry, miss… Bear. I didn’t know you already lived here…” you mutter, your voice shaking as stare at the overgrown floor, trying to avoid looking in her piercing serpentine eyes. Bear seems amused by your nervousness. “I was j-just searching for a place to stay…” The second those words left your mouth, you knew you had made a mistake.
“Aww… sssuch a poor little human… all alone in the big, ssscary world,” Bear titled her head, feigning sympathy. At this point, you knew she was toying with you, but you couldn’t tell if she was dangerous or not. “You can ssstay with me all you like, little one. I will take goood care of you…”
You flinch, making motions for the door. “Oh, no thank you! I-I wouldn’t want to impose or anything…” you say, before hearing a faint slithering behind you. You turn, to realize with horror that the serpent had completely blocked off the doorway with her tail. You were trapped.
“Oh, no, no, no! I insssissst...” Bear smirked smugly, not dropping her seemingly friendly demeanor even as she loomed over you. “It’s been ssso lonely around here. I could certainly appreciate having an adorable human around to… entertain me...”
You weren’t particularly afraid of snakes, normally, but this was all just too much. As the powerful serpent led you away from the door, and you realized how hopeless your situation was, you couldn’t hold in your emotions any longer. The snake dropped her smug act for a second, grimacing when she saw tears start to stream down your face. “You mammals aren’t very sssubtle, are you? Always wearing your heart on your sssleeve. Well, calm your beating little quadripartite heart,” Bear insisted, with a not-quite-reassuring air of superiority. “I shan’t be planning on turning you in. I’m not particularly fond of the aliens, myssself. If I shared your primitive sssense of sssmell, I would likely consider them quite foul...”
You rub your arm nervously, finding it difficult to judge the intentions of the serpent. “S-so you’re not…” you stutter. “... hungry?”
“We shall crossss that bridge when we come to it!” Bear said, in a surprisingly jovial tone. She pulled your body closer to her with her tail, cuddling you against her warm scales. “Now, tell me. How did a rogue little human like you hold out for so long? You don’t look particularly sssmart or capable… no offense….”
You consider the situation for a moment. You had been hoping to find some sort of weapon to fight against the queen… could this be the opportunity you were hoping for? Bear didn’t seem to like the aliens very much, and at her size, she could probably defeat the queen easily. Perhaps you could recruit her to your cause...
