For my blog "Prompt: How much does God’s Word influence my heart?"

I believe God's word has a profound influence on my heart because I believe God's word. Anybody who truly believes it is going to let it influence their heart. There are no two ways about it. God's word started out in my heart when my heart was one degree above absolute zero. That one degree of heat influenced my heart and took off like a wildfire. That is the way it should be with anybody who believes. They will show slow progress olr rapid progress but it will change them.

, which talks about "Show, don't tell."

What does this mean?

"Show, don't tell" means we do not use adjectives in our writing. We rely on mainly verbs and nouns to tell the story. That way the reader's imagination is left to fill in the blanks.

For my blog "Prompt: Am I giving God all of my heart, mind, and strength?"

This is an area that I know I could do better in. I try to give God 100% of my focus, but often find myself getting caught up in things such as school work or my vocation and as a result neglecting my spirituality. I am seeking ways to improve this. Work and school are my two biggest time hogs. I am preparing to do a class on time management for the peer support group I operate. If I do I am certain I will be the biggest student.

For my blog I have preached twice today and I am exhausted (in a good way.) I am a little hoarse from it.

While cruising through cyberspace today in the WDC universe we took shore leave with the star ♥Hooves♥ and viewed the planet

Polling the Herd about Dumb Academy Awards Moments

. What do you think of the Academy Awards?

Speaking of (2111) has anybody heard how is doing? I know he was in a nursing home recovering from a stroke, but have not heard anything else in weeks.

I just realized that I am confusing ♥Hooves♥ with Angus . I haven't heard from Angus in quite a while. ♥Hooves♥ you have my apologies. My brain is a little mucked up.

My voice is back today. I was hoarse last night because I preached a total of three hours yesterday at two different services and about 45 minutes per sermon as well as teaching Sunday school.

The prompt today asks about the Academy Awards. I seldom watch them because they never nominate action movies.

For my blog "Prompt: Do you believe there are angels present in our world? Why or why not? Have you had a personal experience with one?"

I have never seen an angel or experienced one, but I know they exist because the Bible says so. I believe God uses angels to carry out His will, just as He uses man to do so. I believe angels have rescued me numerous times and have saved me from death numerous times.

One woman told of driving a mountain road during the winter. There was snow on the ground and she was sliding a lot. She looked and an angel was sitting on her hood. She drove the rest of the mountain. She slid a few times but never wrecked.

You are right. Princess Megan Rose GOT Fox . The Romulans never learn! I'm sure they'll come back for more. Tell Buck I said hi.

As far as finding my peace, I do that through my faith. I have found that there is nothing I can't face through Jesus Christ.

For my blog "Prompt: How much energy and effort am I putting into my relationship with God?"

This is a question I ask myself every day. I am a graduate student in what is considered the number one Christian college in the whole world: Regent University. I am now in the second semester of my second year. Part of the curriculum at the university is meant to hold students accountable to their relationship with God. Jesus Christ is the most important individual in my life. Even my future wife does not get placed above Him. I love Jesus Christ more than I love anybody on this planet. I am so grateful for everything He has done for me. He gave me birth in a country of nothing but opportunity. Everything I have ever needed has been at my disposal. My cup runs over.

I agree that seaweed should have a poem about it. After all, seaweed is the food source for one of the planet's biggest ecosystems. Why should it not have a poem. Seaweed is amazing in its strength and diversity.

I just returned from seeing the doctor regarding my left arm and hand. I will be having surgery on October 15, 2021. The doctor said it was have the surgery or lose the use of my left hand. The nerve is seriously compressed in my elbow. I will be fine though.

For my blog "Prompt: Have you ever felt God was silent or distant from you? Describe when. Tell about it."

I think we all have moments like that. They test our faith. Faith is more than a feeling. It is a deep conviction based on fact. The fact is that Jesus rose from the dead. Whether I "feel" His presence or not is insignificant. He promised never to leave or forsake us. When I don't feel Him I rest in that promise and know that He is still there.

Summer in the Midwest  (E)
Every self-respecting Midwesterner will understand.
#2229277 by Emily

I understand summer in the southwest. I spent the summer of 1979 at Ft. Bliss TX, just outside of El Paso. It was hotter than blazes! We literally had to wear gloves in order to touch the asphalt in our compound. Considering that we did a lot of exercises, particularly pushups, we found out really quickly that the asphalt could blister your hands. One day the heat was 118 degrees and we were ordered to take the day off. Of course, that was out on the outskirts in the Mojave.

For my blog "Prompt: Which is easier for you: to forgive someone or to ask for forgiveness?"

Both of these can be tough but to be honest I find I have a harder time asking for forgiveness than I do forgiving. The act of asking for forgiveness includes making amends. Amends come hard for me because it usually means I have to change some bad habit and habits are hard to break. It is even harder to admit that I am wrong. Doing so requires rigorous honesty. So asking for forgiveness means something in me needs to change and that change comes hard.

Image #2249882 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: When you say you will pray for someone do you follow through? If not why not?"

I discovered that if somebody asks me to pray for them it is best that I do so on the spot. If not I am likely to get side-tracked and forget to do so. I am very absent-minded because I usually have two olr three things going on at once. Yesterday, IK discovered that I had sat down at my computer the day before with every intention of sending out the blog prompt for my other group. Apparently I started to work on next week's Sunday school lesson instead because it popped into my head and I entirely forgot what I started to do! I am very forgetful. Therefore when somebody asks me to pray for them I usually do so immediately.

Image #2235152 over display limit. -?- I was taken prisoner by the Romulans yesterday. Spock brought a rescue mission to retrieve me.

Quite honestly, I recall typing the prompt yesterday. I must not have sent it. I probably got called away suddenly, then when I came back I forgot what I was doing. I have four work stations so it's hard to say. I guess your captain is getting old!

Today's prompt is Ernest writing about daddies. Tell us about your dad or if you are a dad, what is that like for you?

My dad worked hard all of his life. Though he cheated on my mother more times than I can count, he never left her. One woman wanted him to leave Mom and he dumped the woman immediately. He was a scoundrel in a lot of ways but I have deep love and admiration for him.

Image #2249882 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Do you find it easy or hard to share your faith or beliefs with a stranger? How about an acquaintance, friend, or family member? Why or why not?"

I try very hard to preach the gospel every day and everywhere I go. Once in a great while, during the week, I break down and use words to preach. I almost always preach verbally on Sunday evenings, but during the week I'd rather preach with my actions. This is both for strangers and acquaintances.

Image #2235152 over display limit. -?- Some times I declare I am developing early dementia. I will sit down to do something and end up doing something entirely different. I remember siting down yesterday to send out the prompt for today because I was preaching last night and immediately got sidetracked!

Yes. I believe there is really a hell because the Bible says there is one. If one carefully reads Revelation 20:14 we find that hell is not the lake of fire, but rather the abode of the dead. In a sense, we all go to hell because we all die. We do not all go to the lake of fire, which is the second death. The lake of fire is reserved for Satan and those who choose to follow him by rejecting Jesus.

We had a lilac that bloomed beside our house every spring. For a long time my brothers and I mowed it down because it was quite small, basically a twig sprout. Mom fussed at us enough that we finally let it grow and after one summer it was too big to miss.

Image #2249882 over display limit. -?- "Prompt:
Do you consider yourself to be more “spiritual” or more “religious”? How are they different?"

I think these are excellent questions for self-reflection if a person has the capacity to be honest with themselves. Personally I try to be more spiritual without neglecting the religion. Jesus did not condemn religion. He condemned religion done for show. Religion in itself is good but if we practice it and leave out the spiritual we are falling short. The religion means that we do the "good works" associated with God. We keep the commandments. We tithe. We do all the things we should do.

Spirituality however means that we apply the religion to our hearts. Spirituality is an inside job. This is why Jesus condemned the Pharisees. They knew all the right actions and their actions with the exception of the ones they did for show, were good. What they lacked was spirituality. Their hearts were unchanged. Spirituality means that a heart is loving. It puts others ahead of itself.

I always loved Dr. Seuss. I heard he was once in a mental institution because his family thought he was insane for wanting to write such "outrageous stories."

He laughed all the way to the bank!
