I love this image. Hello everyone,

I have not been feeling well lately, I am not sick, sick, just tired and I think I need a break. I have asked Chris to take over the prompts again. I would like to help out again at a later date. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Prompt Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, Avoid Adultery

Proverbs 6: 20-35 Last of chapter 6.

I am not going to type it all out. These verses deal with the same subject - adultery so did not want to split it up.

I have enjoyed sending the prompts and I will be making entries and reading everyone's entries. I thank you for your responses to the prompts. I have enjoyed reading them.

I have enjoyed learning about Proverbs with Lazy Writer est 4/24/2008 and will continue the Proverbs prompts where she left off. Thank you Dianne. You have been a real trooper. I hope you get to feeling better soon. We all love you and appreciate you.

These verses are about adultery and the fact that God says not to do it. Many people think God is being vindictive in asking us not to do certain things. If God commands us not to do something though it is because doing that thing has negative side affects for humans. Adutery leads to broken relationships and God does not want broken relationships. God is in the relationship business. He is all about healthy relationships. Adultery not only destroys the relationship between couples but entire families and groups of people. It is very hard to forgive the hurt and betrayal.

What are your views on this?

Poetry is music in written form. Poetry as it originated follows the ebb and wane of musical notes. It was meant to be music without the instrumental arrangement.

Hello everyone,

I'm not feeling well, so am not typing out the verses this time.

Proverbs 6:16-19

Thank you for understanding.

This passage names the six things God hates the most. We notice that these six things are behaviors that are sinful behaviors. These behaviors are hated by God because they show the intent of the heart. They are not godly behaviors. Haughty eyes for example means proud and puffed up. God hates pride. The others are self-explanatory.

, a poem about a coffee shop whose customers and staff were all eyeballing somebody who was eyeballing somebody else. Why do humans act like this in your opinion?

I don't feel good today so this will be short. I think humans act like this because we don't know how to be satisfied.

Is there purpose in adversities? What do you think?"

Yes. Adversities develop our character. I have a saying I use frequently. "Humans are like plants. We need a measure of manure in order to grow."

Proverbs 6:12-15

12. A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

13. He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his finger;

14. Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

15. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy."

I had to look up the word "froward" as used in the KJV. It means "contrary". The NIV translates the hebrew word here as corrupt. The Hebrew word is עִקְּשׁ֥וּת and it basically means that this person is a troublemaker. They say anything they can to stir up strife, which God does not like. God does not like it when people don't get along. Man was created to be united and to serve others. That is why it always feels so good when we spend time helping somebody else with no intention of charging them for doing so. Altruism was what we were created for.

As the author of this piece says I feel connected to where I am from. I was going to be smart and say that I was from my mother, but the truth of the matter is that my body is from the dust of the ground and my soul is from God. I know that thios piece is talking about being connected to the place where you were born and raised and for me that was the Mid-Ohio Valley Region of West Virginia. Yes. I do feel connected to the region as it is where I grew up. I knew the people and the culture well there.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "As the year closes what last-minute things are you trying to get done?"

I have already met all my goals for 2020. I made a New Year's resolution in December 2019 that I was going to pass my West Virginia Certification Board of Addiction Prevention Professionals IC&RC exams for a certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist. That goal was met on December 9, 2020. I am now a certified peer recovery support specialist, which means I can legally sign my name Marvin D. Schrebe, CPRSS now.

I find that the trick with setting resolutions is to set a resolution that you want with all your heart and soul and one that can be achieved realistically. Then you must break that resolution down into achivable steps and work to meet each objective. Jesus once said that no man sets out to build a house unless he has the funds and the means to finish it. I do not mean that from a religious perspective but from a practical one. Jesus was a master carpenter. If anybody knew what it took to build it was Him. Just as the architect or engineer has to calculate costs, so we must calculate costs when setting resolutions.

Blog City image small Prompt: "Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse but that's" (not) "what really happened is it.... have fun."

No. It was quiet until the mouse came out and started his shenanigans. Them the cat and he started to play. I told them to be quiet or Santa would pass right over the house. They wouldn't listen to me. Suddenly Santa came down the chimney. Santa asked what on earth all the commotion was. I told him the ornery mouse had come out to play. I figured Santa was angry. He just laughed and joined the mouse with the games! I don't know how the rest of the world's gifts got delivered.

Every piece of wisdom literature on the planet has stories about the hardworking ant. It is not surprising that Soloman would bring the subject up as well. The ant has nobody driving it yet it takes care of itself and never does without. Many people would have us believe the expression "God helps those who help themselves" is in the Bible but it is not. However, it is implied by passages such as this. Solomon is making the transition from who Wisdom is and the virtues of possessing the wisdom to the virtues of acting wisely. A wise person prepares for contingencies. Solomon is complimenting the ant for being prepared.

I hate snow. I learned not to like it when I was just a boy. My family lived in a house way out in the country for years. We burned firewood to keep the place warm. That meant going out on the weekends to cut the wood, bring it back to the house and split it. Snow was always the worse. It was cold and wet. My pant legs would be wet from it then they would freeze all the way up to the hips. My fingers would be numb with cold as were my toes. It was horrible.

Proverbs 5:18-23

18. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

19. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

20. And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

21. For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.

22. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

23. He shall die without instruction; in the greatness of his folly, he shall go astray.

The Lord does see all the doings of man. However, I am firmly of the belief that while the Lord sees the sin committed by Christians, He forgives that sin. He does not forgive that sin on the basis of anything the Christian has done, but on the basis of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus's last words before dying were "It is finished."

What then is finished? What is finished is His victory over sin. He has beaten it and it is forgiven for once and for all. All to often believers get caught up in sin management theology. Sin management theology is the belief that once they are saved they have to some hoiw keep themselves saved by practicing some type of self-punishment for sin committed post-salvation. In other words, they believe they have to be saved again on a daily basis. This is not true. God forgave all sin at the cross. That includes the sin I will commit in the future. It is as Jesus said "finished."

I personally have no problem with keeping a secret such as trying to plan a surprise party or keeping a trade secret or military secret. I had a top-secret security clearance in the military because I handled technology that was a military secret. I have an agreement with my place of residence not to divulge any information about other residents. I cannot even give out a resident's name or acknowledge that they live here. So I have no issue with secrets unless that secret could get somebody hurt.

Indulgences though was a 7th-century theology that the church at the time believed allowed a person to pay for discretions in advance. It was a sort of payment that permitted the sinner to commit a certain number of sins with no consequences. It was a false doctrine of course.

Proverbs 5:9-13

9. Lest thou give thine honour unto others and thy years unto the cruel:

10. Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

11. And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed.

12. And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

13. And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

In this passage God is writing through Solomon that disobedience to His word will mean that everything that can go wrong will go wrong. We will work very hard to see no profit. We will eat and eat and remain hungry. Everything we do will be done for someone else. We will never be able to earn a decent living for our money will all be owed.

I know exactly what Solomon and God are saying here. For years I lived in that vanity. Every dime I made went to somebody else. I was never ahead. I ate one meal per day if I was lucky and often went hungry. I lived in sin and blamed everybody else for my problems. I wrote and published four books. They went nowhere. I tried and tried and could not succeed. Finally, I started doing things God's way. My life has been blessed ever since. I earn $300.00 per month yet I am never broke. I have three hot meals a pay and a roof over my head. I just received word yesterday that a company wants to republish one of my books because they think it has the potential to sell. They offer not only a publishing contract but also a substantial marketing package. They want to make me famous.

I am also a graduate student achieving quite a bit of success. I am halfway through my graduate program and my GPA is 3.90. If you had ever told me I would go to graduate school and achieve a 3.90 GPA I would have asked what you were smoking! It was impossible for me before I met Jesus. Now with His help, my every effort is blessed.

. The signal asked if the wolf ever considered the rabbit and if the rabbit ever prayed for the wolf. Write about a rabbit and a wolf.

The crew had a hard time figuring out what a rabbit and a wolf were. We checked the computer data banks and finally located them in a hidden archive. The wolf turned out to be a carnivorous animal from the canine phylum on earth. It is a four-legged mammal that often hunts in packs. They usually attack larger games since they do hunt in packs and the whole pack has to eat. We were surprised to find that a rabbit is a small rodent that would barely make a snack for most wolves so we don't know why the wolf would hunt the rabbit, to begin with. Then we scanned some old earth movies of animated, anthropomorphic animals called Bugs Bunny and began to understand why the signal asked that. Apparently, some people on the planet truly believe that wolves eat primarily small game. However, our research shows that they attack larger game.

Time is a hard thing to explain. In order to understand time, we would have to be able to understand eternity. Since we do not understand eternity it is hard to wrap our heads around time. Time is both a manmade thing and a natural occurrence. Man created time so that he could measure its passage as he ages and the universe ages. Proverbs 5:5-8 Forsake Lust.

5. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

6. Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

7. Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

8. Remove thy way far from her, and come to nigh the door of her house.

On the surface here it appears that Solomon is saying to stay away from the adulterous woman, which in itself is good advice. However, what Solomon is really saying is that believers should steer clear of evil all together. He uses a pneumonic device to personify evil as an adulterous woman. He will end by telling us that those who follow her end up dead. She is like a black widow spider who always kills her mate.

I don't have a lot of confidence in the vaccine. I hear it makes people sick so if I am healthy I'm not going to worry about it.

Chapter 5:1-4 Forsake Lust.

1. My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding.

2. That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

3. For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

4. But her end is bitter wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

Lust can be a real problem for believers. Man was born to multiply and unlike some animals, we don't go through "mating seasons." We have to deal with the mating instinct all the time. It can be extremely hard to walk down the street and pass a member of the opposite sex that is leaving little to the imagination without having those urges. the world pushes sexuality and lust. Many of the television commercials, billboards, and other things are geared to trigger a response in us. Psychologists spend years learning how to manipulate human minds and know just what strings to pull to get what response. We can't even turn our cellphones on without being accosted by sexually provocative advertising. I turned my cellphone on this morning and checked my email. One email had slipped past my spam folder so before I could even press the delete button I found myself seeing a picture of a young woman leaving nothing to the imagination and offering her services. I immediately deleted it of course but needless to say, I was tempted. The world knows exactly what buttons to push because they installed many of the buttons, to begin with. Holy Spirit may remove the sexual urge someday, but for now, we follow the advice of the sage and walk away.

The Old Farmhouse  (E)
Poem. Father warned us of our feelings, coming home like this.
#721285 by deemac
.

There were times when I was a child that I hated the farm I lived on. Winters were the worst because I was always sick and cold and got tired of being sick and tired. However, looking back on the farm I can see that it had many advantages. We grew much of our own food so it was much healthier and tastier. We had no real neighbors to speak of and we had breathing room. Farm life was hard but it was also very good.
