I like this poem. It has a professional obscurity to it. By that I mean it’s very abstract and kind of mysterious; most if, not all, of the classic writers use this hard to understand format. It is very beautiful the way you display the emotion in this very short amount of writing. Just the sound of it is nice even if you do not comprehend it at first. To whom is the man showing gratitude toward?

To me your prose is like haiku written in a different format. It was very beautiful the way you personified the seasons. They fit quite well. It was cool how you ended it with Old Man Winter. It also speaks of the cycle of nature, again much like a haiku. Great work man!

This was very convicting. How many of us would honestly take in a poor stranger who would knock on the door. You had a good melancholy atmosphere that peaked at the end; it was heartbreaking. It was a tough lesson and it grabbed me. Nice short story. Keep it up.

I’ll be honest with you, at the very beginning of you story I was not very interested. Then everything changed for me with the twist of Greg being in a virtual reality projection. I certainly did not see that coming. I thought it was sad how Greg sold every single thing he owned to live in that world. I liked your ending too. It was very raw and brutal and I was like “No way!” Anyway your piece was wonderful! Merry Christmas!

This was very nice of you to write. You had a good use of enjambment. The affection is wonderfully portrayed and the love is so special. With every line you pull out the emotion from the reader. Keep up with your poetry; you have a good understanding of it.

To me your poem reflects classic poetry in the sense that it is beautiful but hard to understand. Your use of obscurity with the kitten is very nostalgic. Like I say to all romance writers, the genre is not my thing but It moved me to placid emotion. The lingering sense is very effective at the end. It leaves me forlorn but in a good way. Great read!

This was fantastic! I love the way you speak as if you two were the only ones alive and how you are alone in your own world. In like the trust and deep emotion of the poem. I wish I was as good with prose as you are. Although romance is not my forte, this was splendid. Keep writing!

Ah, the things that are meant to make life easier can sometimes just cause a headache. I love living in the technological age but no electronic thing is perfect. I caught two parts that used repetition of words. Just go back and read it out loud and you should catch them. Also work on fluidity. I found things a little hard to follow. That is just me though of course. Feel free not to change it. overall a good read.

This story has great potential and it is good that this is a work in progress. There is a little bit to clean up. I found a few things that could have been tweaked but I’ll only mention one. In the last scene when Helen learns of Harland Baker’s demise, It might have added some suspense and smoothness if you did not tell the reader he had died before she found it out from Mr. Miller; just a thought. A tool that I use to catch inconsistencies is to read what I type out loud. Like I said, I can really see this being an immersive story. All the content is there; you just have to lay with it. Happy WDC anniversary!

This was a nice short story with lots of emotional content. The thing I thought was a little out of place was the last few paragraphs. It was hard for me to tell who was talking about whom. I would have liked to have seen more reaction from Sarah too. Other than that, it was very moving and pleasant to enjoy. The beginning was a good hook; a little violence and/or action is always nice. Congrats for the ribbon!

This was a very inventive story with charming content. For some reason, it was hard to follow at times. I caught three errors but I only wrote down one because I could not find the others when I went back to look for them. In the sentence where you wrote this “The heart is what caused the Angle to make the sacrifice,” angle should be angel. Try tweaking your sentences so they are more cohesive. You did a great job with the fantasy elements like magic, enchanted beings and such. I thought the cat was a nice touch. It was one of the more of the vivid parts. Also, what is a curio?

What a charming captivating unveiling of moments that had a homey, sentimental feel. I really threw myself off the whole time I as reading this. I supposed the surprise was another woman. But why would you call the story as not-so-happy? I guess it depends on what aspect you focus on. It seems that with pregnancies you totally flip out or jump for joy. This was so pleasant to experience. Thanks for writing!

Pretty sweet tale. It was interesting that the tree was alive or just magically enchanted. This had nice rhyming too. You used my favorite poetry format which is couplets. That’s all I do. One thing that I wish you would have elaborated on was the old woman who said the main character was going to die. Was she a witch or an evil magical being?

For such a short narration, you certainly evoked allot of emotion from me. I was really waiting for bad news to com to Nina about the surgery and that her mother had died. Perhaps if you were able to continue with this, you could have done that. The extreme sadness that is portrayed at the beginning is a good hook. I’ll remember this. Happy WDC birthday!

This was very well written. You held my attention the whole way through; something I particularly look for. I hate it when the writer puts in mundane or needless dialog and descriptions. So what made you write this? Is it based of a true experience? If it is, you really made me empathize with your bogus trip. I’m surprised that the person in the story was not angry. Great read; worthy of a high rating!

I love how you literally illustrated your pints with the moving graphics!-love the robot- very witty and creative wording. I liked when you said “of a slave with a master that has no soul/Eradicated by an infallible logic.” It’s so true. Do you remember Y2K? We’re so reliant upon technology. It’s a blessing and a curse. Great couplet poem!

I just recently learned what a sonnet is from my poetry class I college. Unfortunately I forgot what it exactly is! I’ll have to ask my professor to refresh memory. I stated writing and loving poetry a few years ago. It’s good that you appreciate it now after you were at odds with this kind of beautiful art. How are you with blank verse?

I got a little lost as to who was speaking or if the person was speaking to himself. This isn’t bed bad for a short narration. You certainly succeed in establishing the character’s mindset with colorful words might I add. He also came across as a belligerent and hot-headed grump. I hope he does not get picked up! Anyway, congrats on your ribbon and write on!

Congrats for the original premise! Man I have to show this to my brother and mom. This was so funny and true. Politicians and lawyers are generally loathed. This work shows why it is so. You did so well, I cannot say anything against this piece! I dislike the mocking bird politicians the most. I can’t stand mud-slinging! Great job; you’re very clever!

You have no idea how helpful this was to me; I even jotted down a few points in a notebook. All or most of us here at WDC want to get published; I am one of them. I loved all the snippets you included and they all echo the words of others who have reviewed my work for the most part. You’re right on. I will certainly use the tools that you so concisely stated. Thanks!

P. S. Have you ever published before?

You have a real funny bone, truly! I was transported to the realm of human raiment and was held every inch of the way. This was probably a nightmare story to a child but a great young adult parody. I liked how you ended this. It was the perfect final comedy punch of the story. If your narration was a war of Torso Huggers and Leg Shielders, what category would long Johns fit into? Original work!

In my poetry class one thing we’re to do is paraphrase the poems we read, so that is what I’ll do. This is about an individual who is preoccupied with a past lover. All she can do is fantasize about how things used to be. She also has an identity situation going on which is sort of resolved at the end when she realizes her independence. I like the lines that say “And a barrier against my hand/cannot go back.” Tome this means she is leery to reach out to her feelings. Is all this pretty much correct this correct?
P.S. Happy WDC anniversary!

Dude this was totally clever and funny! I’ve never seen this before, is there a name for this kind of poem? Your poem reminds me of the semi-famous merit badge poem. Have you heard of that one? It used to be on the HUB page allot. This was witty and you deserve that ribbon! Write on! BTW, how did you manage to import the small icons?

The beginning of your poem was very vivid and gruesome. You used very powerful words. The last stanza was very lovely though. With only a memory of a person, you can weep or meditate on the good times. My little dog was put to sleep a few months ago and when thoughts of her come to mind I recall all the funny and cute things she did. Try to think on the positive.

Awe.. what a cute image of a little kitten who’s curiosity gets her into fun situations. So you’re a cat person huh? I’ allergic to them so even if I did like them I could not have one. Is this based off a true story? Forgive me for not delving deeper into to this charming tale but I’m kind of worn out from revising a story of mine. Nice read!
