Beautiful expression on the early Simon and Garfunkel. Your poetry is especially dense with meaning. Thanks for sharing. sunflower

This is beautiful, so full of heart, imagery, and symbolism. Your repeating meter is mesmerizing. You rich comparisons are great. This is really good stuff!!! sunflower

This feels like a report for a philosophy class that I took once. It reminded me of things I'd forgotten. You've done a good job of explaining these three major philosophies, and given good present day examples.

I only dropped your rating a tad, because the read is so dry. It's a difficult subect to liven up. Good work! sunflower

ps. You might want to edit:

"Morality" has become "an alien concept to our society." suggest using past progressive type tense

It deviates "in that" it focuses . . .perhaps substitute because

"War is morally degrading for the opposition's civilians

This is a beautiful poem. I especially like your wording of a "time portal" and an "accident of birth." Perhaps we too are sometimes caught like the lion. sunflower

I very much appreciate the blue section which says to add positive comments along with any negative comments when reviewing. I try to have one more good thing to say than bad.

Rather than labeling a piece as good or bad, I try to appreciate the author's efforts, and encourage and challenge them to improve--which means rewrite, rewrite, rewrite. First drafts are just that. Anything you do gets better with work.{c}

Also helpful is the idea of each person having a personal and unique system of reviewing, or what exact aspect of writing you are focusing on in the particular review. That type of info will HELP the writer. *Blush*

Merit Badges are a great idea. Like students working for stickers on their assignments, I'm now more motivated to get into regular reviewing.

Thank you, Writing.Com. We do become better writers by giving courteous but critique quality reviews. I'm motivated! How about you? *Smile* sunflower

This is fun! What a collection of poets! We all are mad, I believe!

It's quite a challenge to stick to one idea throughout--but it still sort of flows.

What a great contest! sunflower

"Willow" is beautiful! You've taken me on a long journey with your words, and left me in a place of peace--feeling somewhat forlorn. Your artistry with words is fantastic. WRITE ON!

What a wonderful effort at drawing the reader into your experience! With the ease of a private reverie sigh, you share such an intense life experience. Just the right size for such a work. FINE JOB!

Review of Am I Good?

This is beautiful, and you maintained your meter of rhyme so well. The message is powerful, and hits home with me. The need to question our own motives, and our contributions to mankind, is often so difficult to put into words. You did a quite excellent job--this piece feels like a lyric poem of day of yore, and an opportunity for the reader to take his own such oddesy.
I wasn't sure if you left some of your quotations open on purpose, or if this was something you might want to edit.
Congratulations on a wonderful work of poetry and philosophy! sunflower

This is really GREAT! It would be easier for me to read if you broke up some of the info into more paragraphs.

I agree dogs, and maybe cats, can offer unconditional love. I hadn't heard the one about "Let me be the person my dog sees me as." I think I'll add that to my nightly prayers. Great work! patrice

I'm fascinated by the impact of color in presenting an item. This item has not only good information, but also offers a variety of colors within the article for comparison. I love the teal color, but I'm not making it print in best form.

Thanks for the information, and for being there. sunflower

I'm glad to have an item to refer to when writing reviews. Wht's really the difference between a 76 and 83 (on a 100 scale)?

As a former English teacher, I've given lot of 4's and 5's, and just usually passed on items that I would rate lower. Now I will try supportive, suggestive critique of those articles lacking or profuse in (. . . whatever, and be specific, with humble suggestions).

Thanks for the easy to read page of info. I think I need to get my glasses changed, but this was easy to read.

That purplish color is sometimes difficult to read, but this looks great.

What is the resolution on your computer screen set at? (Oops, I ended the sentence with a preposition!) I'm having trouble making my page feel "comfortable," since changes made last year.

I love the site! sunflower

Writing.com's Copywrite Policy is important reading for writers who want to break in to a money making market that YOU can create for yourself. To a writer, no job could be more personally fulfilling!
Rules at Writing.com are fully detailed in this article. The proverbial English teacher says, "Plagerism is against the law," and bad mouthing is much more serious than just plain adolescent jibberish, and is absolutely prohibited. But critique--which helps one to improve one's own writing skills--is encouraged and rewarded!
Jokes and second-hand stories are great for sharing with friends through e-mailing, but the ORIGINAL Stories.com now gives you, the writer, tools to organize your own thoughts, share them, and perhaps become a professional writer in the process. This is the real thing!
If you actually thought the thoughts, and wrote them down,"IT'S YOURS"--and several excellent options for pursuing the budding writer's financial/legal options are offered, as well as links to published books by a variety of authors on the subject, should you wish to investigate further.
If you want to get the credit you KNOW you deserve, you'll find a wealth of information in the copywright policy. This is an excellent starting point for determining where you want to meander in the field of writing. If you haven't checked this out recently, this page is certainly worth the read. Besides, it's policy.

Thanks for such well organized information. sunflower
