Sometimes relationships don't work out. One person might feel the need to leave. In this piece the one that still loves expresses thoughts of the future. Sharing those tender thoughts with the reader in this piece. There is no hostility. There is still love conveyed. There is an endless desire to one day recapture those feelings if only in memories. Certain they will never reunite but still satisfied with claiming and sharing part of the past together. This is a sad but heartfelt piece.

We have a man without hope who decides to plant an acorn. He hoped the acorn would grow into a mighty tree and leave a statement of his existence. He was terribly lonely. Although he was around people,he never connected with them. This newly planted acorn would determine his fate. If it didn't grow, he would end his life. Well, before he knew it a woman from where he worked came to plant an acorn as well. They stayed there in the middle of the field minding the acorns for 2 months. After all that time, it seemed to mean nothing, he gave up. She followed him and saved his life. He couldn't see he finally had a friend. He couldn't see there was a reason to keep going. He didn't understand how much she cared about him.
She was angry after following him for 2 hours:

Don't let a damn acorn determine your fate. Let life run it's course naturally, but with me." .

Our author brings us a piece about being kind to the earth. After all, where can we go when we mess it up so bad? No where. Man has already don't so much damage, as the piece suggests, start thinking about our conduct. Treat the earth with respect and kindness. Find the beauty that still exists out there before it is all gone from neglect. Please, be the one that starts it and lead by example. Cherish this gift given by God to be caretakers and not destroyers.

Here we have a young woman who found herself walking on a different path than she had planned. While she watches her peers go about achieving their dreams, she wonders where hers went. Sometimes life steps in and we find we have priorities that we must take care of. Where others may be free of those; our character isn't. She sounds like she is coming down hard on herself and letting a bit of regret slip in there. She thinks the dreams are all gone now. She still has time to do what her heart wants to and take care of that special person as well. She just needs some alone time once in a while. Some time to think and get her ducks in a row. She can do anything and shouldn't feel like she failed. Right now she is happy in her role and she deserves to feel that way. There is nothing she can't do as long as she believes in herself.

A man is behind the wheel and has been drinking. He has some more bottles in his truck to help make the bad things bothering him go away. Soon he is driving way to fast all over the road. The harder he pushes the accelerator the more freedom he fells. His mind is turning to mush and he can't see clearly. He still can't seem to outrun his problems. Faster and faster he goes. No regard for his safety or anyone else. Soon it ends tragically.

Our author reminds us that we help drive him to create. Those that read his work and comment on it; just make him want to write even more. He has had a difficult life; perhaps more difficult than we could imagine. When reading we can sense and feel the emotions. Some may feel as though they are futile impressions of what he wished his life would have been. Yet, knowing he must write, he conveys the weary thoughts that only he could and would explain. Obviously surviving the tragic existence has made him the writer he is. Knowing full well that some might find it hard to understand but yet the few that do, keep him held fast to the task at hand.

How can one begin to overcome an abusive childhood? I believe the references of shadows in really memories. She had to grow up too quick. She saw her mom hurt and hid from the tormentor. She hoped he would stop before reaching her. She is broken inside and out and will always feel this way. He takes out all his frustrations on his family. Now, threatening his own child with a knife; the sirens are coming. Perhaps a neighbor finally had the courage to speak up. Her mother and the child are afraid to leave; maybe him going to jail will bring them some relief. It's time for escape before the worst happens.

Our author reminds us how hard Leprechauns work. We tend to think of them just worrying over their pot of gold. They are shoe makers too. In this piece, our leprechaun turns out some pretty special shoes. Even competing with a big shoe manufacturer. He knows his are better and stands second to none. Sure he takes care and protects his gold but he is skilled craftsman of old.

Our author shares his feelings for the one he loves in this piece. Because of her love he sees the wonder in so many things. Nature is beautiful. Our writer is having a bit of writers block. Finding the right words to use is hard for any writer. They will surface and then as quickly escape. What to do? Keep trying because it is so worth it. A writer has writers block and it's getting to him badly. Without sleep, the computer screen is taking on a entity of it's own. The cursor is the voice that is taunting him. Tormenting and making him feel like a failure. If he tries to sleep; the cursor remains in his mind. He paces and throws papers away. Probably hasn't bathed in days. Trying and trying but to tired to think clearly. He is getting angrier at the cursor as the time goes by. He actually hears it talking to him. This guy is in bad shape. Granted, this piece might sound a bit extreme but frustration does do a number on a writer when he can't write.

A veteran tries to explain how he feels. He came home injured physically and mentally. He has PTSD and it constantly consumes his sleeping and waking hours. There is no way to make the things he has seen and been through go away. A constant adrenalin rush takes over his senses and he is back in the war zone again. Seeing his friends hurt. Hearing the horrible noise. Seeing the fires burning and the explosions. Always on guard. Never feeling safe. Home but not the same home he left. This is sad but very well done.
Hopefully others will read this and find some understanding. We send our young men and women off to war but they pay a heavy price for us to sit in front of a computer and write in safety.
God bless them all and thank you for your service.

She has been running and keeping up a good pace. Now she sees the finish line. She has to focus and give it all she's got. The final sprint is the end of the line. Will she win or not, really isn't her thoughts right now. It is completing this race and never giving up. No matter how tired she is; she still squeezes out the last bit of strength she has. Once across the line she falls on the ground and catches her breath.

We all know how pets can sometimes run the house. This little kitten thinks he has a bit more power than he does. He can get the best of toys, which he considers his prey. Admittedly he is only a few weeks old. He refers to the people of the house as his slaves. Well, the 'slaves' like the kitten and aren't aware of his obnoxious attitude. There comes a time when the kitten finds out who is really in charge.
This is cute and clever.

A young man falls on the street and looks up to see a young woman in front of him.
She is looks lost. She has very few belongings and is crying. The young man, as he finds his feet again, wonders what might have happened to bring her to this state of being.
We all fall sometimes. Most of the time we can get back up and move on, as he does. She, on the other hand, must has fallen too hard. There is no motivation or thoughts of getting up for her. Basically she has fallen so far down; she is without hope to rise again.

She was looking for a chance to connect to the past, if only in her mind. Her grandfather took care of a carousel at another park. Making sure they were oiled and working well for the children. There is no laughter on this visit. No music but there is a tiger. She mounts the tiger and memories come back to her. There is a sense of peace but only fleeting. There was a guard roaming around and she was trespassing in the park to capture her vision of the past.

In this piece the earth is in danger. Aliens are coming and some already here. It's time to call on Captain Kirk and the crew. The only thing is they have a cell phone and we know how the range can effect receiving messages. Hopefully it's one of those new fangled kind or this could be the end of all mankind. We all know the good that they do. Afraid of aliens? No way. They can take on aliens every single day. Only problem is they need to really hurry right away.

There she is with her favorite ball player. She asks him, all excited, to stand with her for a picture. She knows her friends will be full of envy. The picture is smashing. She speaks of money problems which had me a bit confused.
I can't figure out whether she had enough to get to see the Packers but needs money to get home. Even if she is stuck there; to her it is probably so worth it.

He didn't like his new environment. The lights seemed to make it more trashy. He was used to the society and culture of London. Any way, here he was and knew he had to adjust. He finds what he is looking for. The time was right, the basement is secure for him to do his work. The environment seemed to have something that he could make use of.
The story started off a bit strange; then moved from strange to creepy and then some. Good job.

Well it is one of those days when the Master Inventor is busy. His wife is trying to get him to eat dinner but he is to focus on his creation. She gets irritated and tells him to close up shop for the day and through that new thing with the rest of his stuff he is working on.

This piece caught me completely by surprise.
Never even thought of anything but a man and woman arguing about dinner.
Good job with the plot and the surprise.

We all know there is a good and bad side to all of us. How we deal with those positive and negative emotions will result in things that we will, sometimes not understand. Say when a boy was young he was abused. He might have been able to put those thoughts behind him and move on. Someday those thoughts will manifest themselves in negative reactions to situations. He might have been the nicest guy in the world but those emotional tragic events will harden him. So in this piece we have a man talking to his bad side. Realizing his bad side has caused him so much misery. Trying to hold back those bad feelings is becoming harder and harder. Inflecting more harm on others; he chooses to be something he never dreamed he would be. Anger sits in causing him to be angry at himself for allowing this character assassination to take place.

Our author reminds us that taking time to have fun with others is good for your health and well being. Sure following the same routine is necessary due to work. What happens after work can make all the difference. Don't be a coach potato on Saturday; grab the kids and find some together time outside that door. Maybe you just need some alone time; don't we all sometimes? In the middle of this demanding world take some time to really live life.
This is good and makes a lot of sense.

Our character was just sitting there. Soon the attack began. The sound could be heard but the enemy couldn't be seen. It was necessary to move and even put up a potential fight. Alas, it was useless. The right moment came, with bare hands the enemy was defeated. A good example of being determined to stop the harassment.
If I did that, I would feel a bit triumphant as well.

He loved her but they were just friends. He hesitated. Time passed and she was gone. She couldn't see how much he cared. It's been to long to tell her now without asking for more pain. Forever his love will be a secret. A simple prayer that maybe one day she might turn his way.

and captures not the sweetest song of praise
that hides in silence ‘neath a lover’s veil.
