This is touching and very sad.
A man alone saying goodbye once more to his daughter. There on a hill looking down at the marker. So many thoughts must have gone through his head. Surely why must have been one. So young must have been another. Her locket is still there adorning the marker. The breeze carries a silent prayer through the silver leaf maples. A scene of love and grief as he reaches out to touch her marker so she knows he is there.

The game full of thunder and action brought to a sad end to one team and a happy end to the other. You did well getting the ending emotions all summed up in so few words. The cup goes to the winners. Many happy faces and many sad ones.

Our author reminds us how time can change people. There are situations and mountains to climb that lead them onto different paths. For so long they leaned on each other but one day they realized their unit fell apart. It is sad that so much time is invested in a relationship only to have it fall apart when one least expects it.As the piece suggest; life will go on. Perhaps a bit wiser and certainly different.

I agree with our author and think Oprah is way off base. She is making to lightly of love. Jesus preached loving each other. Who is smarter than Him? Without love how would we find ultimate joy is a connection with another. Look at a mother deer caring for her fawn. Isn't that love? It surely isn't infatuation. As the author mentions turtle doves and how they express love. Then look at wolves and how the mate for life. It seems to me animals should be talk show hosts and she needs to go to a deserted island and 'fall in love with a soccer ball.'

What a charming story. A feel good piece. A nurse caring for her patients with humor and grace. She must have had a way of making them feel comfortable and like a friend. This interchange is a once in a million happening and will long be remembered by our nurse.
Bringing a smile and laughter to the elderly is to be admired. To be this kind of person is precious as a jewel. God willing she will shine on many others lives and bring them smiles and laughter.

There she is, in her mind just barely holding on, and no one is around to help her. She is a fighter and as she fights this pit of despair, where is her support? Where are the people that love her? Oh, but what courage she has, this young young soul. She won't give up until she is again whole. So step forward all you know it alls, lend her and hand and not just words. Give her a hug and a smile to bring some light along her way. She matters, every heart matters. It's time to let her know that.

It began as a fun day by the water and soon turned into terror. The mother calling her daughter and even loosing sight of her brought on a panic beyond description. You captured the fear and helplessness of the mother. The futile searching as her heart breaks over and over again. The descriptions of the scene were well done. Easily brought the reader into the tragic scene. Even made this reader hope against hope. Finally the ending, which was unsuspected but so welcome.

OK. In this piece we have a man stressed to the max. He is getting ready for work but things aren't as they should be including his reflection. The reflection appears to have taken on an entity of it's own. Not only that but apparently has been busy during the night. Certainly the man doesn't know a thing but the reflection knows way too much. This is all beginning to enrage our character and he demands answers from the reflection. This could be a big fat mistake. This character has several screws loose or perhaps a few eggs short a dozen. This isn't going to end well, I fear.
Good job. Creepy and well done with such a word limit.

He is running for his life. There is something behind him and sounds as though it's getting closer. He also has a sense of a female in trouble and that he must help her. What to do? Suddenly he wakes, only to find he is an experiment. Apparently, prisoners are treated with mind control as a punishment. Stimulating their minds with fear and panic. The doctors decide there needs to be more pain and confusion inflected on this man. A good Sci Fi story in a short word limit.

A man feels like his life is out of sync with others. He didn't do his work according to par. He missed the train to take him back home. No one seems to notice him them. This reminds me of that movie from Stephen King that takes place on a plane and the people and the earth itself disappear. I can't remember the name though. Cool job with this. Did he fall into a time warp of something? Not much of a Sci Fi person but Kings stuff is good.

We all do it. That spring cleaning impulse will hit us and we decide to throw things away. Well, it becomes an all day thing. We look at things and remember how they came to be and the circumstances that brought them into our possession. We think this time; out it goes. Well, that doesn't work. To many memories surround them or they still wouldn't be in our keepsake box. Right? This piece simply reminds us that some things can never make it to the trash for any number of reasons.

An abused teen is the subject of this piece. The author does an exceptional job of expressing these painful feelings. She feels totally alone and that no one can see. She also feels no one is interested in how she feels. She is afraid to the core to tell some one or ask for help. That is easy to sense in the piece. This has been going on most of her life. A punching bag for everything that has gone wrong in her parents life. She receives the brunt of the anger. She could simply walk to the kitchen table and the parent would find something wrong with it. As they often say "No one knows what goes on behind closed doors" There are signs though to look for in a young person. The way they withdraw. The way the wear clothes to hide the bruises etc. For the sake of this child and others look with more than your eyes but look with your heart. An anonymous call could take her away from this environment.

First finding the right area is important.
Then the care and tenderness of this delicate find is utmost on his mind.
Filing his claim and the wonder it brings.
Right there in his hands is the enchanting thing he sought and found.

Her charm won him over. She knew what she planned would work. She is skilled at being beautiful and enchanting. She found her prince and all he could see was a rose in his eyes. She won his heart and became his wife but beneath the beauty, as with any rose, is the thorns that cause pain and misery. She might have had him walking around with blinders on but her picture speaks the truth.

Our author brings us a piece to ponder this evening. Sometimes in life we have things come along that 'BUG' us. It depends on how we handle them whether we contain our dignity or fall to pieces. In this case it is a roach. Now, granted, no one would want to be a landing place for a roach. What if, instead, it is a business deadline hanging around your neck? Are you going to fall apart or stop and think logically how to handle this unexpected situation? Basically think before you react. Of course, if we were speaking of a rattle snake, I imagine everyone around would panic. Right. So here again consider the situation and respond accordingly.

There is always competition between co workers. This story deals with the eventual end of that. A locket is given to one at Christmas to make peace. The locket soon begins to become more of a problem than expected. Strange things happen. Unexpected ending and well done. Never would have thought the outcome would be a conspiracy of sorts. Will there we consequences or will the evil go unnoticed or without suspect?

Here we have a young couple at a party. They begin to get carried away and decide to move to a more private area. She asks him about protection and he didn't have any. She walks out. Her convictions were strong and she wasn't wrong. A few minutes of lacking responsibility will lead to drastic consequences. If young people would just follow this example.

Is this cool or what? I used to love to lay on the ground when a child and find shapes in clouds. To come upon something like this is once in a lifetime encounter. Thank you for sharing this. Our author reminds that life isn't a bed of roses. There are lemons being tossed about. We can either make the best of things and keep going or sit there and watch the lemons get all fuzzy and rotten. Showing a bit of optimism, our character looks forward to tomorrow. Knowing tomorrow just might be a better day. No pity party for our character here. Dealing with the lemons on deck right now. After all tomorrow is another day. Who knows what will be waiting around the corner?

The author brings us a piece about the TV and how it can eventually turn someone numb to tragic events. After seeing it over and over again on the screen, it means nothing. Just entertainment in movies or news telecasts. Life and death mean nothing. Sticking a child in front of the TV for hours without monitoring them isn't good to do. Letting them go to those gory movies isn't good either. This is a very well written piece. Many examples and implications given. Wisdom is found here. Give it a read or two. Then think about it.

There are some people that won't admit that God exists. Here we have a man that knows for certain in his heart He exists. This man is dealing with issues he thinks he can handle and looks past God for answers. He knows God is aware of his conflict inside but he also knows God will never give up on him. He has faith in God but is afraid to let go and let God. Until he finds himself able to do that, he will reside between the darkness and the Light.

A couple begin a relationship but one knows that it won't last. The other falls head over heals and can't see the pain that is coming. Time will step in the way. People change or perhaps haven't been truthful from the beginning. Betrayal will come but only one knew it would happen. Perhaps one has never been the kind to settle down. It would have been so much kinder if those words of truth were given to stop the relationship before it began.
