Chapter #7

Ash Has To Think About Something Other Than Feet

    by: TheNewJaxson Author IconMail Icon
“We need to talk about your feet,” Santa told Ash sternly as she sat down and leaned back in the seat across from Santa’s desk.

“Absolutely! They’re my favorite subject!” Ash leaned forward and responded excitedly. “Do you want to talk about how they’re twice the size of Danni’s? Or how they smell so much worse than Danni’s? Or how they’re so sexy to stare at?” She kicked off her left shoe and held it up so it was eye level with Santa as he sat down in his desk chair. She smiled and wiggled her toes for him to appreciate their size and beauty.

“No!” Santa yelled at her, “And put those stinky things down!” Ash’s face showed a mask of hurt, one Santa interpreted because he yelled at her but was really because she couldn’t talk about her feet. “Ash when you agreed to be Mrs. Claus you agreed to meet the responsibilities inherent in that position; that includes the charity work, public appearances, work with the underprivileged.”

“I know,” Ash said running her hand up and down one of her feet.

“Then you’re going to need to stop focusing on your feet!” Santa bellowed at her.

“Fine. Easy. No problem,” Ash assured him. “I’ll just stop focusing on my big tired dogs, my size 22 wonders, my stinky treasures, my beautiful, beautiful feet,” she ran the back of her hand up and down her right foot, gazing at it longingly.

“Are you kidding me?” Santa threw his hands up in disgust, “You’re preoccupied with them right now!” Santa calmed down and pinched the bridge of his nose. He took a deep breath and exhaled, “Ash you might just be the worst Mrs. Claus I’ve had in the history of the mythology.”

Ash wafted her foot odor up to her nose and took a deep whiff, “What?”

“Ash, you have one week to show me you can handle the responsibilities of your position. If you can’t I’m gonna change you back to your previous self, and look for someone else who can live up to the standards of excellence I and the past Mrs. Clauses have set.”

“But, but my feet would only be a size 5! And smell sickeningly fresh and clean!”

“Oh good, you understand where your priorities should be,” Santa told her sarcastically.

“No, no, no, no, noooo! I can’t go back to having small, good smelling feet! Not after having these big beauties! I just can’t! I’ve gotta go! I need to get the cookies done for that charity!” Ash told Santa frantically. She marched out of his office, the sound of her feet slapping against the floor echoing as she returned to the kitchen, leaving Santa to wonder if he would see the change he needed to in her. And wondering if he did would he be able to live with her big, smelly clodhoppers.
