This choice: Amy decides they can try to check out Dan • Go Back...Chapter #17Amy decides they can check out Dan by: DougTF Amy clocks out, and puts her shorts and blouse on over her genie the swimsuit, and heads out, but not walking to her car. Instead she heads up the beach and asks Genie if she really thinks they should check out Dan, see what his story is, and Genie encourages it. "He's nice, looks great, very fit, cares about nature, and while I understand you feel like he is hiding something, and he gets awkward when you talk about your art, maybe there are decent reasons for those things. But if he just lives in a tent, that might be a bit too much." Amy agrees and as they walk, they talk about how to do this, and Genie suggests using her magic to turn them into a seabird and just fly over there. Amy is intrigued by the idea and goes to take off Genie, who chuckles through their bond "Amy, may I?" Pausing, Amy blinks, a bit confused but agrees. There is no gesture, since Genie is merely a swimsuit in form, but Amy gets the sense of it still, but then...
SQUAWK! Amy flaps her wings and squawks once more, because without much in the way of warning, she has found herself turned into a seagull, alone on the beach. "Genie, where are you?" Freaked out, because there is no sign of Genie, and being a seagull isn't something Amy feels very qualified to do. But then she hears Genie's giggle in her mind "Easy there Amy, I'm right here...I was your swimsuit when I transformed you, so now I am some of your feathers, we are together. This form ok for heading over? I wanted to check with you mentally before the next step"
Amy blinks and looks down at herself, well as best she can as a seagull, and realizes she looks exactly like any gull at the beach, and the feathers that are part of her, well, some of them are genie, so the for the intents and purposes, the two of them are currently the one of them. "Yeah, but I dunno how to work this body, being a motorcycle was waaay easier, since I literally left the driving to you, but being a seagull? I got nothing" Genie giggles once more "I know, but brace yourself Amy, this will feel a little weird, but once you get settled it will be ok"
Amy is about to ask what is going to feel weird, when suddenly, she squawks and takes flight, heading out over the waves, away from those noisy things on two legs. They are only ok to be around when they have food she can steal. SHe flies higher, circling in the darkening sky of twilight, joining with some other gulls headed toward the bay between the park and the island. She is halfway there before she realizes what happened.
"Genie, did...did you just make me think I'm a seagull?" Genie shrugs mentally, which Amy can almost see, but explains "Basically, yeah, just gave your mind the instincts and thought patterns of a gull, limited as they are, so you can allow your body to work on a sort of autopilot. Just relax yourself a bit, and you will feel like your spiraling away a bit, as your new bird brain takes over." Amy is a little worried, like Genie just wants her to let herself become a bird in mind and body? And what, she just be a passenger in her own form? But, concentrating, she focuses and...
Yep, she's gone. The seagull that is her body flies around with the rest of them, and while Amy can sense what it does, see what it sees, hear what it hears, even feel what it feels, she is not in control of the body that was hers, and now apparently belongs to a regular old seagull. "OK, this is trippy, and I can get my body back, right?" Genie, still a voice in her head, but then again, Amy has now been reduced to a voice in her own head as well, so there's that, replies "Yep, totally safe, and lets you be completely hidden as we head over to the island where you think Dan lives. Just nudge your gull mind where to go and enjoy the ride"
Amy focuses and sure enough, the gull flies over toward the end of the park and there is Dan's park Jeep at the boat launch, and no sign of him. Though, her acute bird vision notices a rack of kayaks with one missing. Getting the hang of it, and actually starting to enjoy the ride, she has the gull head across the Bay and even mentally laughs as she gets it to speed up by planting the suggestion there is food over there. The state park is dark and quiet, but a faint light visible over dunes, in the middle of the island, but in a shallow depression, hidden from the water. And since this part of the park out on the island is special access only, this must be where Dan has his tent or whatever. So, she gets herself to fly that way, only to faintly squawk in surprise.
The gull mind running her body goes into autopilot as Amy's human mind is very much caught off guard. Because in the middle of the island is not a tent, but a simply stunning beach house, even if it is kinda small. It's on stilts, with a wrap around deck, and the ground floor appears to be small, maybe only a utility room. But the main floor is all windows, deeply tinted so almost no light escapes. She manages to convince her gull body to land on a dune over looking this and mentally whistles "What the hell, this place is gorgeous, and how does he have a place like this in a state park? Ok, Genie, this mystery just got a lot deeper, we so need to sneak in there, but gull won't do for this. Hold on" and she gets the gull to fly out of sight of the house, landing. Genie uses magic to: indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
