Season's greetings, Snow Angel!
This is good for a FF piece! It's also kind of creepy, but that's why I liked it! *Smirk*
The idea of somebody entering a wrong room was a great plot device (I've already got ideas running through my mind!), especially for something as dark as this. And the way you had this guard arrest her and then Ms Jones explain to her in no uncertain terms that she wouldn't 'need a lawyer where you're going' was excellent.
Granted, you left the ending ambiguous, but it's already dark enough that we can pretty much imagine how it's going to end.
I also like how you wrote this in the first person. I've always thought that makes it more personal and adds to the creep factor!
One tiny niggle in an otherwise excellent piece:
'...a red haired woman ask(s) as the security guard handed her my purse.'
Who in their right mind would only give this 4 stars? That's *Crazy* !

Season's greetings, Bob!
This isn't bad. I was just a kid when this show was on, but I still remember it all too well.
You did a nice job with the characters dialogue (Edith's 'showah' was perfect! *Laugh*), but I'm not too sure about the subject matter. It's kind hard to imagine Edith as a sex addict, even though I know you meant it in jest.
Oh, NOW I see that this was the BANNED episode! *Headbang* No wonder! *Facepalm*
I also like how you started it and ended it with that song.
Overall, I like the idea. Just a few spelling and speech tag niggles you might want to check.

Greetings, Rinsoxy! Or should I call you ‘Scratch’? *Smirk*
What a neat little piece!
First off, writing this is in the first person from the Devil’s perspective was a great choice; it makes it more personal. And offering your ‘client’ a deal to improve their life is a great approach.
But the best part about it is your honesty. You don’t try to hide behind your deal, but instead you tell it like it is. A good example: ‘it isn’t like “being good” keeps you from dying. It just sops away the fun until you get there.’
I also enjoyed that bit about how you played the fiddle with that kid, and how you ‘let him win’ because after all, it was win-win for you anyway! *Laugh*
Frankly, I think you’re one hell of a salesman, and if you aren’t Beelzebub, then I’m sure he’d hire you in a second!
One tiny niggle:
‘Nothing is more soothing than knowing where your going.’ (you’re)
Bravo, my friend!
Kee ponw ritin gon, thanks for sharing this, and you now have new fan!

Season's greetings, Rinsoxy, and happy belated 5th 'birthday' on here!
As a reader/writer/lover and judge of horror, I thought this dark little piece was pretty darn good!
The idea of this demented hostess doing such a terrible thing to her guests is indeed twisted, but at least she was kind enough to give them a choice! *Smirk2*
I also enjoyed the detailed descriptions you used for how she got rid of their 'roasted corpses'! *Laugh*
Great spelling and grammar, excellent us of the prompt words, and I loved that subtle but wicked ending!
My only suggestion would be to put this in a larger font, but other than that, BRAVO!
PS-I might have peruse your portfolio to see if you have any other little dark gems like this!

Season's greetings, Paul!
This is pretty good. I was going to write something for this contest, but most everyone had already used my idea of Mrs. Claus fooling around with the elves. You took it in a different direction and used something totally unique, and I commend you on that!
The idea of Santa spending all his time surfing and making his toys would indeed be a hardship on his missus, so it's nice to see that Alonzo's is spending time with her and attending to her needs. What those needs are though, is best left to the imagination. *Smirk2*
And that part about the award presenter with the 'double D's' was nice touch! *Laugh*
A couple of tiny niggles:
"I’m tired of spending months here alone With all these weird little workers..." (with)
Was “But... wait... sweetheart...” (don't think you want there)
Otherwise, good job!

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

Season's greetings, Noahwayy!
This isn't bad, and please know that even you're not sure what you're writing, it's still something. In this case you're professing your homesickness for your state and the people you miss there.
What's uncanny is that I've been living in Texas for the last 9 years, and I also miss my home state. So we're both experiencing the same problem, only in reverse. I want to be home in California, and you want to be back HERE!
And what's sadder yet is that I don't really have any friends here, so I'm lonely too. And it's just not what I'm used to! There doesn't seem to be any real 'mountains' (I'm from way up in NORTHERN CA, about 70 miles from the Oregon border in Siskiyou County!) or lakes. Granted I'm living a big city and I don't get out much, but its not the same.
At least I know I'm going home for good this summer!
Anyway, thanks for sharing this, Noahwayy! I hope things turn out for well for you, and I hope you get to go/come home sometime soon!
Kee ponw ritin gon, my friend, and welcome to WdC! If you like to write, then you're going to love it here!
PS-You might want to get your bioblock (biography) set up so we can know a little something more about you (hobbies, favorite books/authors, location, etc.), but that's up to you, of course.
PSS-And since you’re new here, perhaps you’d like to check out "Noticing Newbies and introduce yourself to the rest of the community if you haven’t already.

Hi, Robert!
I was 12 when I saw the first Star Wars, but I had no idea it would become the film franchise that it has. To say I'm a big fan of it would be true, but I'm also a big fan of the original Star Trek. It's kind of neat that both of those envisioned things that we could have only imagined, yet some of those things have actually been invented, at least to a degree! Star Trek ones, mainly.
On a side note, I also told myself when I was a kid that if I lived long enough to see my first grandchild born, I too could die peacefully and have lived a full life. Now I'm regretting that, especially since I became a grandfather at age 38! *Shock* *Laugh*

One last time, BScholl!
This is another cool little FF piece, and judging from how many you have, you seem to have them down to an art!
I love this! I'd say you did a great job with the descriptions, but those were the main subject of this piece!
I used to cut firewood for a living, with Lodgepole Pine being the main wood my customers wanted. And having spent so much time up in the woods, I can't tell you some of the amazing things I've seen! Reading this brought back a lot of those memories, and for that I can't thank you enough!
Nature truly is wonderful, and I pity those poor city slickers who will never experience some of the things I have.
I love the way you ended this, because yes, I DID SEE IT, and IT DOES EXIST!
Thanks again, my friend!

Howdy, B Scholl (Hawk?), and once again happy 10th 'birthday' on here!
I thought this was pretty neat!
I love a good twisted/surprise ending, you really delivered with this.
Your descriptions of your fear and that old place you had to enter (What was I thinking coming in here? *Shock2*) were excellent, and you kept the action and the suspense moving from the first world to the last!
Just a shame that it had to be a 'wolf-man', though. I'm rather fond of those...
Great spelling and grammar, too!
Comments and suggestions:
'Turning the doorknob(,) my heart pounded so hard I thought it might explode.'
'I stood mannequin still' (great metaphor!)
Otherwise BRAVO! It's no wonder this took first place in that contest! Congratulations!

I was grabbing up those trinkets and I noticed that each one (or at least most of them) had a lesson in it! That's ingenious, my friend! What better way to teach a Newbie the ins and outs of this humongous site than by rewarding them for their lessons?
It's a very informative and educational piece, and I, like all the Newbies you've helped since this has been up, are extremely grateful to you for having this! Three thumbs up! *ThumbsUpL* *ThumbsUpL* *ThumbsUpL*

Season's greetings, BScholl, and happy 10th 'birthday' on here!
As reader, writer, lover, and judge of horror, I thought this was really good for a such a short FF piece! And it's a pretty unique concept, too!
I've never tried goat's blood before, but even if I had I probably would have had the wrong spell. Dang the luck, eh? *Laugh*
Seriously though, the idea of Morty resurrecting these dead children to become future serial killers, as well as extending his own life, was great. Kind of morbid, but great! And I can understand why this was an editor's pick in the newsletter!
Great spelling and telling, but I did spot one tiny niggle:
'The woody smell(,) mixed with decay, heightened Morty’s excitement.'

Season's greetings, Odessa!
This is something else. I knew it was going to be a Christmas letter from a serviceman for the Bard's Hall contest, but I didn't think it would be a from a dead one!
But wait! He's only missing in action! So there's still hope and he could still be alive...
And then we find out that Sid was only wounded. A disfiguring wound, but a wound never the less. And now he'll receive a Purple Heart AND get to go home early. He won't make it home for Christmas, but he'll be back for good!
Having the setting in the first world war was a cool idea. That might have been the hardest war we ever fought if you consider the chemical weapons (mainly mustard gas) and the trench warfare those poor soldiers had to endure!
But I wonder...Did Mildred get angry at Sid for practically giving her a heart attack with that first letter? *Think*

Season's greetings, McKinzee Croft!
For your first piece on here, this isn't too bad. I like how started this story out with that flood and the children being taken away from their folks by the government (reminds me of a certain US president *Angry*), and then having to roam all over New York in search of somewhere to stay. That would certainly be daunting!
I also like how wrote this in the first person. That makes it feel more personal.
There's few punctuation and capitalization niggles in this, but I think if you went back over it you could probably spot them.
As I said, so far so good. It would be interest to see if you're going to continue this so we could see where it goes.

Season's greetings, Winklett, and happy 17th *Shock2* 'birthday' on here!
This is a really nice tribute to this incredible site, and you did an excellent job of writing it. I like how you gave us some history about how you found it, even though it was the loss of a good friend that might have precipitated it. (I'm sorry for your loss)
Like you, I don't know what I'd do without WdC. I was never really into computers or playing around on the net until about 10 years or so ago, but one night my youngest daughter texted me some writing site she thought I might enjoy since I've always been a writer, even though I never took myself seriously enough to get published.
WdC was the 2nd one I checked out, and within a week I was hooked! And I mean HOOKED!
As you said, there's some amazing people on here, and one thing I quickly found out was that this isn't just a place where we critique one another's writing, but it's more like a family! When one of us is having a crisis, whether it's something minor or major, and no matter what it's about, we know that there will always be somebody on here with an ear to listen or a shoulder to lean on!
And it's also a home to me now, too! I've made more 'virtual' friends on here than I have in real life! Not too mention all the amazing stories I've read by the amazing authors on here!
Bravo, Winklett! What would we have done and where would we be if it weren't for The StoryMaster and The StoryMistress creating this site? *Shock*

Season's greetings, Robert!
This is a neat educational and informative piece, and I thought it was great! Not only is this a well thought out article about probability and going after the most obvious and easiest answer, but you showed a great example as well!
And the semi-humorous way you wrote it didn't hurt either! *Laugh* And neither did that link!
That part about people running in a straight line made me think, and I've seen this happen in more movies than I want to remember. Why is that when somebody is being chased down a road by a car, whether the car is being driven by a person or is driving all by itself, does that person continue running on the road? In Stephen King's Christine there's a certain scene where some idiot is doing just that, and it's out on a country road with nothing keeping him from jumping to the side! No trees, no buildings, no walls, nothing!
Anyway, I though this was great! I also like the simple way you explained the theory behind Occam's razor.

This isn't bad. I've always wondered if stupid people should be called stupid or not, mainly because it might not be their fault. Perhaps they were born that way, and if that's what's it is, then they should be called 'intelligently challenged'. *Laugh* However, if they're stupid because they simply refuse to learn, then by all means they are definitely stupid and should be called that!
Sorry, I digress.

This isn't bad! I don't know how you came up with this idea of Mr. Colton having an appetite for cat food, but it's certainly unique. Then again, I think I've heard about people eating pet food before, so who knows?
I like how you did this in dialogue alone, and the conversation, as strange as it is, flowed smoothly.
What is it with people and cats? Some folks literally worship them (I guess the Egyptians did too!), but why? I've heard of some folks even leaving fortunes to their cats after they die! One woman even left her cat her house with the property tax paid for for infinitum!
Nice job, YOLO!

This is pretty good. I know all too well about people not seeing the real 'us', and it's very true that people do put on another face (so to speak) when they're around others. Especially strangers! The kindest little old lady you might see in the grocery store might actually be a serial killer or somebody you would never imagine, and we all do it, whether it's intentional or not.
I learned a long time ago not to 'judge a book by its cover', and the same goes with first impressions of people. I've met people that I actually despised when I first met them, only to be around them a little longer and end up being great friends with them!
That last stanza says it all: if only people would let us see their real faces, and let us see them for who they truly are, then this might be a lot better world to live in!
Kee ponw ritin gon, Rosalyn! Thanks for sharing this one too, and have a marvelous day/evening/tomorrow!

Bon jour, Rosalyn!
This is a pretty deep piece, and I like how you used this rose as an analogy to how a lot of people feel (if that's what you intended, anyway). Granted it's sad at the end, but you were trying to make a point, and you certainly did with this!
But that's what seems to make your stories shine! You seem to see people and certain things a little differently than others. I also notice that you're writing is involving nature, which is great! And you have a very unique voice, both gentle and beautiful!
'The silence stretched as far as the sea went.' (excellent metaphor!)
Very well done, Rosalyn! This is the 2nd piece of yours I've reviewed, and I can't wait to read more! Yes, I haven't read "The Wind yet, but I'll get to that one eventually!
Kee ponw ritin gon, my friend, and once again, welcome to WdC!

Greetings, Musical Tayo!
This isn't bad for one of your 1st pieces on here. I like the concept of the water and the sun turning this dark red, but I think you should show a little more fear in the man. And I know YOU know you left it incomplete, which is something you stated in your port intro.
Something else I saw in there was that you're 'not feeling good enough to be in this world anymore'. PLEASE don't feel that way! Every person has a purpose to be here, and we're all just as important as the next person!
Smile, my friend! *BigSmile* You don't say how old you are, but I have a feeling you're young. If so, then don't let those feelings bring you down! We've all been there, done that, but trust me, things will get better and please know that these feelings are only temporary!
I'll try to read "Identities either today or tomorrow!
Kee ponw ritin gon, Musical Tayo, and welcome to WdC! If you like to write, then you're going to love it here!

Season's greetings, Beleren!
For your first piece on here, I thought this was really good! It's a very informative and educational synopsis on the high price of a college education and the alternatives that should be considered, and you made some excellent (and valid) points!
I also enjoyed the examples you used, such as your own grandfather and friends.
I attended a 2 year community college in the late 1980s, and although I don't remember the exact cost of tuition as it was then, I do know that it has increased substantially since. But the numbers you used for a 4 year college are mind-boggling! *Shock* You hit the nail on the head when you said that tuition is rising 4 fold in relation to the rate of inflation! *Angry*
I agree 100% that college is not an end-all solution, as some would have us think. My father started out as a truck driver for a shipping company and worked his way up to being a foreman in the warehouse. Fortunately, the company was with a union, so by the time he retired he got maximum benefits and a nice pension! Not to mention that this was up in Alaska and in the 1950s, where the Teamsters practically ran (and maybe still do?) the state.
Very good piece, my friend! And thanks for citing those references!
