*CakeB* HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews*CakeP*

I’m reviewing this as a "The WDC Angel Army Angel and to thank you for all the reviews you’ve done and do on this site!
Hello there, Bob, and happy belated 13th 'birthday' on here!
This is interesting, and I like your ideas! Especially that last one.
In this day of streaming and everything we-could-never-possibly-imagine beginning to pop up on TV networks, these aren't really that far-fetched. Heck, you could make a reality show about practically anything these days and it would be guaranteed to attract at least a few followers!
Methinks you should come up with a few more of these and send them off to one of those networks! Lord knows they couldn't be any worse than some of the stuff they've got now! *Laugh*
Well done, Bob!
Kee ponw ritin gon, thanks for sharing this, and may you have many more wonderful 'birthdays' on WdC!

I’m reviewing this as a "The WDC Angel Army Angel and to thank you for all the reviews you’ve done and do on this site!
Guten tag, Scifiwizard, and happy 10th *Shock2* 'birthday' on here!
I remember seeing that video for this newsfeed challenge (and I even went back and watched again just now! *Bigsmile*), and you did a great job of capturing that here. I watched that kid running from those birds and those monsters (even though they looked friendly), and I love the way you used that as an analogy for this young man running from to escape having his dreams taken away!
Sadly, in some countries that's exactly what's happening! Our imaginations are we what we thrive on, and nobody has the right to take those or our dreams away!
Very well done, my friend! And that ending was perfect! Just goes to show what one little boy and his imagination can do!
Kee ponw ritin gon, Scifiwizard! Thanks for sharing this, and may you have many more wondeful 'birthdays' on WdC!

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

Greetings, Flamefoxquill!
For one of your first pieces on here, this is some good advice, although I'm not too sure about that 'be vulnerable' one. Sadly, times have changed a lot since I was a kid, and this world isn't as nice as it used to be. I hate to say it, but we need to keep our guard up these days.
But maybe that connects with 'Choose your friends wisely'...
Anywho, thanks for sharing this! And as for you coffee comment, perhaps you should get together with Lilith of House Martell !
Coffee seems to be her main love in life! *Laugh* I'm kidding, sort of, but she does love here coffee, and she let's everyone know!

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

Greetings, Isaac!
This isn't bad for flash fiction piece, and I like the concept of this princess finding somebody to help guide her as she prepares to take over her kingdom. But you didn't use the prompt phrase!
The spelling and grammar were good, but you have to use the prompt phrase, which is "Nobody is home". In quotation marks.
By the way, since you're new here, here's a hint about this contest: the owner/judge, Arakun the Twisted Raccoon, really likes twisted/surprise endings. You might want to keep that in mind if or when you enter this contest again! *Bigsmile*

Review of alone, not lonely

*CakeB* HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews*CakeP*

Greetings, Thea Marie, and happy belated 16th *Shock2* ‘birthday’ on here!
I’m so glad I found this because it really speaks to me, and I can totally relate to it.
Those last 4 lines sum all of this up, and for me, they couldn’t be more true. Somebody once told me ‘I don’t have any problems with just being me, it’s everybody else I have a problem with.’ And I’ve lived by those words for the last 10 years of my life.
I know this is just simple piece about being alone, but you said so much that I’ve been wanting to say for a long time. There’s a big difference between being lonely and being alone. I don’t know if my agoraphobia (fear of being in crowds or in large places) has that much to do with it, but I just doing like being around people. Funny thing is I never used to be this way. I was actually popular in high school, and I liked being around people. But now I’d rather just be by myself. I live by myself, do what I want when I want, and rarely talk to anybody when I’m in public. Seriously! I sometimes go days without saying a word to another person, and I hardly ever talk on the phone!
Yeah, I guess I ‘converse’ with people on WdC a lot, but that’s just typing and a lot different from actually having a verbal conversation with somebody.
Anyway, I won’t harp on this much longer, but I just want to thank you for sharing this. Now I know there’s other people out there who feel like I do, which, ironically, means that I'm not alone! *Laugh*
Great job, Thea! *Thumbsup*
Kee pon writin gon, and have a fantastic Halloween!

Greetings, JM!
As a lover/reader/writer and judge of horror ("SCREAMS!!!), I think something like this would be right up my alley! I'm also a big fan (and believer) in the paranormal and supernatural, and I like your concept. After all, there's so many different places you could take this, and you've certainly set a good hook, considering this is but a tiny flash of a story.
I'd certainly like to see where you're going to take this, JM. Let's get those plans rolling! I don't know if you're going for a short story, a longer piece, a novelette, or even a whole novel, but let's see some more P in this WIP!
Don't be a tease! *Laugh*

Guten tag, Pepper, and happy 10th 'birthday' on here!
I love flash fiction, and you did a great job with this! I can see why it took first place! Congratulations!
The idea of Cliff trying to talk his way into borrowing Cliff's '65 Mustang was a great idea (of yours, not so much of Cliff's *Laugh*), and that outcome was not only perfect, but rather ironic as well!
If Cliff would've let Bobby finish what he was starting to say, then he wouldn't be in that position! But since Bobby ws grinning, I think he let Cliff know that! *Smirk2*
Well done, both you, Pepper, and Bobby!

Greetings, Rex!
I thought this was great, not to mention hysterical too!
I love the way you used those prompt words to re-tell a very famous fairy tale! Having Red 'traipsing' through Central Park to see her grandma in her high-rise apartment on W 107th Street was flat out *Rolling*, and that comment about her previous two homes being blown down was an added nice touch (I always knew it was the same wolf that kept bothering those 3 little pigs!). And what Red discovered on Wolfe's arms? That's just *Sad*, man.
But it was that ending that really made this shine!
I do hope that Wolfe got the help he so desperately needed! *Laugh*
Too damn funny, Rex!

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

Greetings, JennyPen!
For one of your first items on here, I thought this was pretty good! I don't know if this is the 'real' you or you're speaking of somebody who could be a Drama Queen, but I've met plenty of DQs in my day, and described them perfectly with this! *Laugh*
So emotional about every little thing! So uptight, so paranoid, so DRAMATIC!
Lord, it's like they think they're constantly on an audition for some big show!
But if this is about you, then I'm glad you added that last stanza and realize that you DO need to calm down, take time to reflect, and desperately search for that inner peace...even if you never find it!
Otherwise, like you say, the ramifications would be disastrous (and messy! *Laugh*) (and dramatic! again *Laugh*)

Aloha, Handlemeaveragely!
This is good. It's also different. Different, but good.
You did a great job with the chase scene as Jade followed this weird woman through the streets of the city and watched her 'pretending' to be all those different people, and it actually came to a logical, albeit strange, conclusion. I'm guessing that this so-called 'doctor' had some Zombie blood in her genes, otherwise she wouldn't be so hot to be eating brains! *Laugh*
You kept the action moving from the beginning to the end, and spelling and grammar were great, but there's a few places that should have been capitalized, as well as some speech tag errors. I'll leave a link below for a short article on speech tags if you want to check it out.
I liked the ending too, but it felt a bit rushed. You still a couple hundred words to use. However, I also saw that you got this into the contest with only 2 minutes to spare. I'm guessing that might have had something to do with that?
Regardless, the concept was cool, and that last line was precious!
Here's that link:

Ahoy, Victor!
Well, you're right about this not being too scary, but it's still a cool ghost story!
I like the way you built this story up with Donavan parent's thinking they could still control him from beyond the grave, but I don't think it was ALL because of his sexual preference. I think they were just domineering control freaks, and whatever Donavan did wouldn't please them no matter what!
'Tis no wonder he told them he didn't care if they rested in peace or burned in hell! *Devilish*
Oddly enough, I've never considered that somebody could rid themselves of a ghost or an apparition or spirit or what have you by burning down the house they were haunting, so for that I thank you! *ThumbsUpL*
A few tiny niggles:
"What do you mean, why you?" He asks,' (he)
"disgrace us(e) by moving your homosexual lover into our home?" Asks David' (asks)
'as he ignites a row of matches(,) throwing them back inside'
I haven't read all the stories in the contest yet, so I'll announce the winner before the day's out. But for now...

Greetings, Jennifer!
This is nice, feel good story about a man and his son sharing their good fortune with another father and son who weren't so fortunate, and you did a good job of telling it. And it demonstrates how good people can still be to each other in this otherwise dark world we're living in these days.
HOWEVER, this kind of goes against that old saying: 'Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day, but give him a case of dynamite and soon the village will be showered with mud and seaweed and unidentifiable chunks of fish.'
Oh, wait. That's the wrong one! *Headbang* I meant: ‘Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.’
Seriously though, you did a nice job with this!
Suggestions:
“Dad, I think I got one!” The boy squealed (speech tag niggle-shouldn't capitalized-check below*)

Guten tag, Sinbad!
This is pretty cool. I like the way you told most of this story of your escape into the world by using all those metaphors and similes, and all of them were good! But it was the Medusa one that you based this on, and it worked out perfectly!
I was also 17 when I moved out of my house, but not for the reasons your character did. Your character saw the dark side of life when he was expecting something much different, and sadly, that's really the case in much of this world. And this country (I'm talking the U.S. here). People are downright cruel, especially in the big cities, and they will indeed take your blood and anything else they can get from you.
Niggles, comments, and suggestions:
'Some turned out to listen to what i said' (I)
'and i remember them as lightening' (same here)
'Some didn't care and wanted to go suck on rainbows' (Neat way of phrasing that! I gotta remember that!)
'I think I see faces they are weird with reptilian aura' (that?)
Otherwise, bravo! I don't know how this did in the contest, but it looks like a winner to me!
Kee ponw ritin gon, Sinbad! It was a pleasure to read, and have a terrifying terrific Halloween!

Ahoy, ApplebobbinBrad, and happy belated 2nd 'birthday' on here!
As a Grandanna of four now, I think I can officially call myself old now, even though I'm just 54. But in those 54 years I've seen a lot, so I don't think that qualifies me as being young anymore. Middle aged? Who knows? But I can relate to this.
Yes, we dreamed as young boys and we dream as old men, and many of those dreams live on all through all lifetimes. You did a nice job of using those examples like driving race cars or sailing the high seas, but the sad part is that by the time we're old we realize we forgot about those dreams and now it's too late to accomplish them.
OK. That's not really a very optimistic way of looking at it, but for many folks it's the truth. Instead of believing we can do anything when we're young, as we grow older we start to think that that's all they were: just dreams!
Well done, my friend! And even though I'm no poet myself, I know you can classify this as 'free verse' poetry! *BigSmile*
Kee ponw ritin gon, Brad! 'Twas a pleasure to read, and may you have a very happy Halloween and many more wonderful 'birthdays' on WdC!

Bon jour, rjsimonson, and happy 14th *Shock2* ‘birthday’ on here!
This is pretty good for a short FF horror story. First off, it’s a very original concept, and original concepts aren’t easy to come by in this day and age, especially in the horror genre.
Second, the ending, although not entirely original, still came as a shock, which also isn’t easy to do these days.
That would indeed be a wild way to wake and have 'Grandma' sitting there telling you it wasn't a dream at all, and then to find yourself staring at that same tree with your skin draped over its branches!
I wonder if it was a CHRISTMAS tree? *Laugh*
It was just a tad bumpy in places where you repeated the word 'tree' sentence after sentence, but the spelling and grammar were great! Having Grandma 'calling' you all through the episode was also a nice touch.
A couple of tiny niggles (sorry to be so picky!):
‘When I finally reached where (I’d) seen her...’
‘...woke up in my cozy little bed (with) Grandma beside me in her rocking chair...’
Otherwise, bravo!

Just the mention of 'the Old Days' does bring back some memories, but I love your imagination thinking what it would be like if we had a 'closet full of them'! Not to mention, 'There were never any (Old Days) there when I was young.'
How true! Our 'Old Days' were our present days!
Now I'm no musician, but I do know what 'Doe Ray Me So La Tea Doe' is, but I don't really understand the beat. But I'm sure if I heard it, it would come to me naturally, just like it does to you!
But no matter what, I'm just happy that you sang this for your grand-daughter, Cassandra, because after all, that would surely be the BEST RATING you could get!
Great job with this, Bill! Thanks for sharing this, and thanks for bringing back some memories of 'the Old Days'!
Kee ponw ritin gon, my friend! It was a real pleasure to read this, and may you have a wonderful day and a very happy Halloween!

Guten tag, Handle!
This isn't bad, but the ending was a little confusing. It didn't really have an ending because it ended right where it started off, if you see what I mean.
Don't get me wrong: I like the idea of Lass hiking up this mountain path, especially if she was sleepwalking, but other than this unfamiliar face trying to wake her up, there really wasn't anything else to it. And I know you only had 300 words to use.
A couple of niggles:
"...with their eyes open(.)" he told himself...' (should be a comma)
"I'll wake her up(.)" he told himself' (same here)
Also, there's a few other missing commas in this, but I think if you went back over it you could spot them.
Kee ponw ritin gon, Handle! Have a wonderful day/Halloween, and good luck in the contest!

Bon jour, Clay!
Y’know, I’ve read and reviewed over 12,000 items/stories on this site, but I don’t think I’ve ever read a whole story made up of puns! And considering what some folks think of puns, I can’t say whether that’s good or bad!
You obviously put some work into this, so for that I commend you. Half of those puns were actually pretty good, but that makes the other half of them pretty darn bad. However, in your defense, to write a complete story like this and still have it make sense does require some talent.
But I guess that’s the life of being a punny guy, huh? *Smirk*
Kee ponw ritin gon, thanks for sharing this, and have a spooktacular Halloween!
PS-Sorry to hear about your original account! Good luck trying to get it back!

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

Greetings, Buzzlite!
Well, first off, let me say that you have a great vocabulary, and I'm glad to see that you know how to use it and aren't just bluffing by writing this.
I'll be honest: yes, I did have to read some of those sentences twice to get the 'gist' of them, but you do make a lot of sense. And some of those questions, though rather prophetic (for lack of a better word), are unanswerable, at least to me.
I've also had some weird thoughts in the vacuousness of my own grey matter in the 54 years I've been here, but I just haven't expressed them in written form.
And so for that, I commend you, my friend!
Definitely some things to contemplate!
Kee ponw ritin gon, have a great day, and welcome to WdC (again? I think I might have reviewed you once before)! If you like to write, then you're going to love it here!
PS-You might want to get your bioblock (biography) set up so we can know a little something about you (hobbies, favorite books/authors, location, etc.), but that's up to you, of course.
PPS-And since you’re new here, perhaps you’d like to check out "Noticing Newbies and introduce yourself to the rest of the community if you haven’t already.

Greetings, Clay!
Yeah, that does sound like a pretty episode, and not just for a gas station.
I don't know how old you are, but in my day I've also seen wild things in public places. I was once in an old time bar from the early 30's, and they had a clawfoot bathtub in the men's room. No big deal, right? Except there was a guy fast asleep in it! I don't know if he was drunk or what, and I didn't ask. I figured just let sleep!
Great spelling and grammar, but I did spot a couple of tiny niggles:
‘This scarred the ever living’ (scared)
‘it(')s better to be drunk and asleep’
Otherwise, good job!
Kee ponw ritin gon, my friend, and have a happy Halloween!

Hello there, Paul!
I like this, and being a Grandfather myself, I can totally relate to it.
I've never thought about this doing something like, mainly because knowing my grandkids, one or all of them wouldn't be able to keep the secret and then I'd be the one in trouble!
Great dialogue, and a nice heartwarming story.
On a side note, I wasn't even 1/2 way done reading this when I started wondering just how many grandkids you have and if you were going to tell all of them this 'secret'!
Seventeen? Seriously!
I have 3 Grandannasons (ages 16, 14 and 13) and one Grandannadaughter (age 2), but I'm not sure what I'd do with 17! *Laugh*
Kee ponw ritin gon, my friend! Thanks for sharing this, and have a wonderful and spooktacular Halloween!
PS-I'm called called 'Grandanna' because I've always been known to wear a bandanna! My first son-in-law nicknamed me that and I loved it!

Bon jour, Buzzite!
There’s a few grammar and spelling niggles in this, (I think you meant ‘psyche’ instead of ‘sike’), but you do have point. I know this is probably just a rant, but I’m not sure if everything you don’t like, haters are going to hate. Some folks just disagree, while others will indeed hate.
Personally, I’m with you on a few on of these. I enjoyed how parodied the verses of Billy Joel’s song, We Didn’t Start The Fire with your own. In fact, my favorite one was:
‘oh, Charlie sheen, ruptured spleen, listening to a drama queen.
a used syringe, brony cringe, people who like to TV binge.
fortnite, bud lite, people who are always right
sauerkraut, roundabout, teachers who just like to shout.’

I was also rather fond of that verse about trump’s hair and country music sounding like cancer! *Laugh*
