Ha. This made me smile for two different reasons. The first one was the flipping from channel to channel; it's really amazing how many people do that. And then the repeating of a song - fine for the first one or two plays but if you don't like it it can soon become almost hated.
Nicely told story.

I guess it was something that had happened time and time again. Bonnie was rightfully angry although perhaps she was taking it out on the wrong guy. Roland, while radioing the crime through did come across as a bit flippant though. There's a lesson here - never trust your bag to a stranger.
I liked the backward and forward flow of dialogue.

What a lovely story this was. You did a great job with all three of your main characters. The grandmother seemed wise and patient, letting Kimmy tell her worries when she was ready. Kimmy seemed nervous but did not want to displease, while Butch... he was just amazingly in touch with the girl's fears and soon proved them unfounded.
Very nicely paced and no spelling or grammar issues that I noticed.

This has to be one of the most original and unusual poems that I've come across recently. Very descriptive of the noises, but deceptive too in that I'm not sure how much was down to the hurricane at all. Murder and revenge, flow thorough this really haunting piece.

Believe it or not, I can very much relate to this on a personal level. My Mom is still alive, but we have nowhere near as much contact as we did. My sons are in their twenties, my daughter is about to head off to college... I know just what that gaping hole feels like.
And also the put-downs - mine are not only in the past - can be soul-destroying. Writing can be a way of coming to terms with things, as well as making some kind of permanent mark, I guess.
This really connected with me.

This is lovely. There is surprisingly little written about the hug and how much it can mean. What a big selection you manage to mention in this short piece, each precious enough in its own way. From comfort, to affection, to true love, you do them all justice.

I remember taking part in this challenge. I don't know about you but I had to do a lot of research as I knew nothing about the stock market, or the Bulls and the Bears. The first two lines of the second verse are a really clever way to remember which is which.

This is a well written story. You do a remarkable job of showing the characters of Krum, Runt and Mara. You also did a good job of showing how it is survival of the fittest out in the wild. Krum certainly showed a lot of human characteristics in the way he lied, betrayed his friend.
No spelling or grammar issues that I noticed, and the plot was both solid and flowed well.

This is such a common situation, which is no consolation whatsoever when you find yourself living it. The man (sometimes a woman but more often not) is fed up with his life, looks for something/someone new, makes promises but doesn't commit and eventually gets cold feet, clings to what is.
This is so well written. The mostly short sentences go a long way to conveying the confusion, the pain, caused by those actions. Very emotional, but also with a lot of self-control.

This diverse collection hits very hard, mostly because it contains so much personally relatable truth. We are allowed, encouraged as children to be ourselves, at least for the early years. The pressures to get rid of your 'self', to conform, really start to kick in from the age of ten, and within a year or two, those that can't quite get there are punished.
Society can be a cruel master to those who are misfits.
This is an important piece of writing and deserves to be widely read.

Somehow I couldn't help feeling that the doctor should perhaps look for another job. He certainly doesn't seem to think much of the old people he's supposed to be taking care of. There was something definitely creepy about having a spider in the ear though, but it made for pretty compulsive reading.

I think there's a bit of Chad in me, even when I was his age. We seemed to have a similar taste in reading matter too. I liked the way his nerves gave way to delight; all those original stories to hear too. There's definitely a temptation to disappear into a good book; Chad succeeded better than most.

Well, I've got to say I rather applauded Julie's stance in favor of individuality. Of the four she was the only one that challenged the rules, and the others were certainly intrigued by her action. I guess it was inevitable that she'd end up paying for it.

Beautiful writing that really captures the strength and spirit of the forest. It was such a peaceful, tranquil scene until the man succumbed to the desire for more. I really felt the horror of the collective forest as he took out that knife, made that cut. But he earned its forgiveness, and found peace once more among the trees.

This is a very thought-provoking poem. I'm quite intrigued by the first verse - a very original comparison to make with time, but so true too. The middle verse is my favorite; it feels like looking forward to the next day through the eyes of both optimist and pessimist. The final verse feels like it is very much in the 'now' rather than looking forward. And perhaps that is the message of this - to live for the moment.

Ooof! So I'm guessing that Arlaaa was most definitely intrigued, and even more disappointed. That's the trouble with all this old technology stuff - you never can tell if it's going to work or not. Hmm, pet people, not a trend that I could imagine catching on.

This is a really beautiful haiku about the moon. Honestly, it might be pale in color but I think it has far more variations than the sun. Just a week ago 'ashen' would have described it perfectly, but then this week it has been a much more pinky gold.

Some great character interactions in this. I especially liked the initial part where Anna warned her brother to tread carefully. Jessie seemed to have a lot of reasons to be vulnerable but as the writing progressed it seemed that she was more than careful of holding her own.

This form of poetry works so well in this piece. The longing for the children's presence is made very clear, but then there is also the determination that their absence will not spoil the day. I loved the use of brackets and slightly lighter shade to show the inner thoughts.

I can see from your introduction that this is a poem inspired by politics, but I think it could well have a much wider scope than that. All the deceit that we're constantly surrounded by!
Anyway, the rhyming is great, the rhythm excellent. A very well thought-out piece of poetry.

There is a real genuine feeling to these words, a poem that comes from the heart. It is so sad to see America being torn apart, but it is by no means the only place that it is happening. I like the almost rousing tone; to stand up and open your eyes to what is taking place.

Oh, this I really, really like. Partly because Edgy's views seem very similar to my own, but mostly because of the fantastic way you had with words. Right from the first verse with the 'ants consuming the sugary residue' you held me well and truly hooked. The words were fitted in seamlessly too; never an easy thing to accomplish.

I honestly felt a lot of sympathy with Reed. I hate it when things update and suddenly the things I'm used to doing just won't work any more. However, you did a good job of showing C7's exasperation too - some people rely on tech to do everything for them.

I could very much identify with the young Emily in this; school for me was a torment. She had a rough time with Weazer, but for once that worked in her favor when she was 'discovered'. I really wanted her to have her moment of success - I liked How you did not reveal how the reunion went.
Very nice writing, and a skillfully done glimpse into the past to show how Emily had become Emelie.
