A lovely poem that captures the essence of the holiday season well. I like how you share images of small moments of gift exchanges, clothing, and shared moments of celebration in this verse. I think you sum up the whole of the holidays well here. Well written and well done!

I love this! I have two parrots that are such a joy to me, and have been a tremendous support and comfort over the past two difficult years. This is a beautiful poem and a lovely tribute to our animal companions (I really don't think of them as "pets"). Well written and well done!

Review of Blind

I think this is a good attempt at a haiku, but then again I'm not a poet myself. It certainly has good natural imagery and gives readers a glimpse at a life outside of their walls that we normally don't see or think about. Well written and well done!

A vividly expressive poem filled with imagery and meaning. It's also a good caution to be aware not only of our physical surroundings, but what we take in our own mind as well. It flows well and is "just right." I like this. Well written and well done!

Review of Missing you
Review by SherritheWriter

Oh dear! I was relating to this story so much because I lost my Dad to cancer, but what a surprise at the end! Ok, so perhaps I'm ok because I went the other direction and am in the "moving on" territory now. But seriously, I do still like this story. It's good to see a different perspective. It also gives me some comfort because there are hard times with grief (no matter how long it's been), and it's good to know I'm not alone. Nobody is, really. We all struggle with grief. Thanks for sharing this story.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem. So many people struggle with the holidays, and it's good to see a different perspective that explains some of what happens in the heart when you disagree with the sentiment of the world around you. The poem is well written and expresses the heart well.

Review of You never cared!
Review by SherritheWriter

Thanks for sharing this honest piece. I will say that the advantage to nobody caring is that you can be yourself, authentically, honestly, and openly. Do what brings you joy and follow your heart. Once you start to accept and love yourself, then others will see your light. I know. I've always been an introvert and had a hard time connecting - but when I do find things in common with others, we usually bond well. Don't give up!

Review of TEN LITTLE WORDS
Review by SherritheWriter
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
I feel this story. My Dad heard those words in May 2020, and he passed away in August 2020, just two days before my birthday. It was a relentless, brutal crash course in pain, frustration, unpleasant surprises, and the unfairness of life. And yet, like you, I ponder the suffering of this diagnosis all around. Cancer doesn't just hurt the patient, it hurts the entire family and friends as well. It's a difficult thing to witness, and it leaves your faith shattered when all is said and done. You capture that helpless frustration so well in this piece.

I think the "existential crisis" is something we all deal with. Certainly, you'll ponder the meaning of life repeatedly, sometimes with big triumphs and tragedies, and sometimes in the bored monotony of everyday life. At some point, we have to accept that we won't have all of the answers, and to be ok with that. Most of life is made up of the small, everyday things, and most of us have a tremendous impact on a small circle around us. Don't overlook the meaning of that, though. You don't realize how much you mean and how critical your existence is. It is all connected, although we frequently don't know how. Hang in there, and thanks for sharing.

A good story! It tells an entire tale is such a short space. I can tell there's so much more here that brought the characters to this point. Excellent work; well written and well done.

Review of Frozen

A wonderful description of the bane of a writer's life: that blinking curser on a blank document. Oh, the horror! You capture it here well. It's a wonderfully creative and descriptive piece on something that is anything but lovely.

Review of In My Heart

My condolences on your loss. My Dad passed away 15 months ago. My own grief is hard enough, but seeing how it affects Mom losing him is equally difficult.

This is a beautiful poem and tribute to your husband. It's simple yet complex, as it captures a lot of a few verses. Beautiful and well done.

Review of People
Review by SherritheWriter

An interesting observation that we all see come into play in social situations. Sometimes, people don't realize that they can't force friendship because it's something that evolves over time and shared experiences, and they just aren't patient enough to let the process work.

I do hope that classmate has some revelation on how to better connect with others and find the friendships he/she seeks.

Thanks for sharing this!

A powerful poem that makes you think, especially as we're coming out of a pandemic and all of us are pondering our mortality. I can't help but wonder if the planet and even the human race had a collective close call with survival in 2020. Yes, I understand these ponderings, and see plenty of inspiration for them. Well written and well done!

Review of Lawn Envy

I love it! People do take their lawns seriously, perhaps too much so. It's so hot and humid where I live that I decided it was best to give up while I was ahead. Our yard looks awful - but we live in the woods, so nobody knows it but us. Ha! There's a solution! But I like yours too. I must admit it crossed our minds as well.

Seriously, this is a great, humorous poem. It rolls right along and is something we can all relate to. Well done!

Review of Dad
Review by SherritheWriter

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my own Dad to complications with lung cancer 10 months ago, and my father-in-law passed with Lewy Body Dementia in 2014. Both were tough losses. I can tell you from experience that there is no good way to grieve. You're never ready to lose them, and it always turns you upside down and leaves you with an endless list of "what if's." Try not to beat yourself up too much. Grief will always cause us to think of things we could have done better or should have said. He knows you loved him - perhaps now more than you know. My condolences and thanks for your honesty in sharing this.

Good advice. I'm 45 and see the "identity crisis" that so many people in their 30's and 40's feel over not having achieved what they think they should have. That's so much nonsense. Life is full of the unexpected, and narrowing your vision to a single path can drain you of so much joy and new opportunity.

This is a beautiful poem, full of emotion and meaning. It flows well, and is a beautiful sentiment to those times and experiences so deep that we can't share them with others. It's deep and beautiful, and captures the swirl of suppressed emotion so well. Keep up the great work!

A wonderful story that demonstrates that relationships are the most important thing in life. I like the perspective of this story, because it seems that success made the character delay questioning the typical "mid life" questions (when we can still do something to correct our course) until the end of his days, when it was too late to change anything. Powerful and thought provoking. I like this story.
