I'm thinking the familiar stranger could be Christ and the bridge and waterfall, the path to everlasting joy. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I am taking away from this finely crafted short story. Ah, what ! no six inch balloons at the birthday parties. Those budget cuts hit everyone don't they. Yes, they hit everyone except the rich these days. I retired five years ago and you can watch can watch the grass grow and get more satisfaction then watching CNN and stories of budget cuts to line the pockets of the rich. Frankie and Albie sound like they work for IBM. Of course when they are paying off strangers and won't take no for an answer that pretty much tells the story. Although I have worked with criminals for 23 years from 1990 to 2013. I still like a good yarn about the bad guys. Wonderfully written fiction of a daredevil and his dream jump across the gorge. There is nothing wrong with your writing. This is as fine an example of a romantic short story as anyone will find. I believe a poem to be a strange creature of creation and imagination. A very timid and recluse animal. I also believe in enjoying myself when penning a poem or creating a work of digital art which I am also fond of. I wonder if all poems have to be disected to prove they are poetry?

I take it Rime's mother passed on in the end of your story and from the sounds of it , she may have had TB. Nicely penned story. Kind of sounded like a young Harry potter type theme. The way the papers floated in class and the teacher popping out of the class room to the lounge.
