There is nothing wrong with your writing my friend. It was easy to follow and easy reading. The message here is a strong one and a good one that most of us can learn from. He sounded like a man at peace with God when he passed.
Excellent story my friend. Well written and reveals great emotional content.. I see you have written a book also. I'm ready to publish a second poetry collection this fall. Seems we are in the brotherhood of small time authors. I think life is simpler that way.
How often do we look down at our shoes, especially when we are so deep in thought. I have no complaints when it comes to this poem my friend. A sound piece of writing.

Nice work and a tough one to write about as I have done one or two of similar form and know how tough they really are. I liked the ending with the twist. Distractions are usually an unwanted part of life but in the old lady's case it was life. Nice touch there.

Good story and well written. Survival is what this story is about and this authors battle with Hurricane Ivan. She's a survivor and was truly lucky. Nice work on this intuey and I can't imagine 140 mph winds and don't really want to. Good luck and God Bless.
Excellent poem about what must have been a chilling event. Seems like I watched a movie once that was supposed to take place in Lawrence, Kansas. I can't remember what the title was. Anyway this was good and filled with a chilling imagery to fit the factual events. Nice work here and keep at it.

There's not much wrong here. The imagery was sublime and the rhyme worked well. I thought your meter could use a little polish but other then that it was very well done. Keep up the splendid work.

When I was a kid so was Dylan and I have a love of his music and his words. When I read this I got that same chill that I usually get from something like " Knockin on Heaven's Door " by Dylan. Excellent work and beautifully written. Thanks for sharing this one with us.
After reading " What is Poetry " by this experienced author, all I can say is "Boy! do I have a lot to learn." Thanks Vivian for posting this and I will be doing more research on writing poetry as it seems to be a never ending learning process. There's only one rate for this informative piece.
I liked the poem and your thoughts on free verse and prose. I've always thought poetry was something the reader is supposed to have their own interpretation of and may differ from the next reader and that's what makes poetry unique. We all percieve things differently. I write in rhyme and have to deal with meter which can be a pain at times but the challenge pays off ocassionally when the reviews come in.
Nice work on this and liked the way you had the spirit looking down on his own funeral and his or her thoughts on the people who gathered there. Excellent poem and written in very good form. Only one rate for this excellent story of a deathbed confession and and the personalities of the chilren involved. Five stars hands down and no questions asked. This happens to be the lead story in a book published by Lulu called " Hidden Lies and Other Stories " by Vivian Gilbert Zabel and Holly Jahangiri.
I've read it, my wife and now my sister-in-law. Definitely a must in my book! So check it out. Nice work here Vivian and congratulations on a job well done.
Tell the non believers in this site to write 50 or 60 pieces in word perfect first. Then send their very best to one of the top publishers and wait for their rejection, which by the way, I did before I found this site and realized I had a lot to learn. If this person hasn't learned it yet? There's a lesson and that is that nothing is truly free and everything in life that is worth while costs something, be it money, time, effort etc.
