I wrote about one of these in my journal recently. The local paper has a Commentary section, where they print phone calls and emails from readers. I found this one today:

You know it goes to show there is always a higher power working no matter if you believe in God, Jehovah no matter what you call them, there is always a higher power. There is a fine example at what is happening to this country with all the stuff going on. Look at the towns and cities that are being punished. Texas, Mexico, Japan, there is a reason for that, the higher power is at work. Do unto others and you get it back. Evil begot evil. It looks like Mexico is getting exactly what they deserve. They came to our small towns, they ruined our towns, they brought their crimes and drugs with them. Look at Shenandoah, Hazleton and Pottsville and all these small towns fighting shooters and murders. You get what you sow.

The caller was from Shenandoah, the town in which I formerly lived. That's the type of mentality I have to deal with around here. Not everyone thinks like this, but a good bit of the people around here do, and it's really sad to me - to think that a nationality or an entire country is responsible for local crime; to think that a nationality or country is "evil." *Frown*

There is a great deal of crime in that town, and in towns around here, but it's not one nationality committing those crimes. When I read the Police Log in the paper, I'd say at least 80% of the crimes are alcohol-related. They don't print criminals' racial backgrounds in the paper, so I don't know where these people think they're getting their information. When my house was broken into, it was two white guys trying to rob the restaurant around the corner and broke into my house. When we spent a few hours at the local courthouse that day, I saw only white people there.

The towns around here contain a mixture of cultural backgrounds, from Polish to Irish to Lithuanian and so on. In recent years, immigrants from Mexico have been moving in. (Whether they're legal or not, I have no idea, and neither do most of the people living here) For some reason, these citizens who come from very diverse backgrounds, whose own families were immigrants moving in, are extremely angered by another nationality moving in.

Oh, and this is the same town that had their second annual Heritage Day or Unity Day this past weekend, which included a parade celebrating the different nationalities that reside in the area. (I covered the event last year for the newspaper)

The whole thing just really saddens me. To think that something bad happens to a place because they deserve it? They're being punished? I'm sorry, but that seems so wrong to me. You know, we had really bad flooding here two years ago. I wonder what they thought of that.

I forgot to write about the wasps' nest in that last entry! I was walking up the steps to my front door, my hand on the railing like normal. I got to the end of the railing and noticed it was opened at the end. The tip of my fingers even went into the end a tiny bit. Then I glanced at the end, and saw it was filled with wasps!!!

*Shock*

Not quite "filled," but there were at least five of them! *Laugh* I didn't get stung. They didn't even seem to mind me so close to them. My hand was within an inch or two of a few wasps, with the nest further inside.

Mr. J thinks I'm cruel, but I had him tape the ends of the railing shut. The wasps will probably die inside unless they can find a way through the tape... *Frown*

I don't like killing anything, but I have this insane fear of bees and wasps (especially wasps). I was freaking out for a long time that my hand was so close to them and their nest. I still feel scared, anxious, and itchy. Yuck! *Sick*

We're done! We're moved over, but not quite moved in yet. We've got all our stuff out of the old house (closing still set for this Friday), so we only have stuff at my in-laws' to move yet.

We don't have a refrigerator yet (we're using the mini-fridge I won a few weeks ago for drinks), nor do we have a washer and dryer, so we're waiting to move in. Probably this weekend.

So, I'll still be online this whole week! Yay! *Delight*

Except, I'll be going over there to unpack and stuff for most of this week. At least I can still pop in here and stuff, though. That was making me nervous.

I can't wait to see if the phone's working tomorrow! My cell gets almost no signal over there for some reason.

Crazy lightning storm last night! I don't remember ever seeing anything like it before! Luckily we had everything from the pickup truck unloaded before it started pouring.

I'm exhausted! We didn't need to do a whole lot today, we just got a few endtables from the old house and arranged our living room. (It looks awesome! Ivy, I can't wait for you to see it!) I want to take photos when it's all done. Basically all our stuff is either red or black, or with a dark wood finish. It looks really good with the wood paneling in the house and the red carpet upstairs.

I have to try to find something to keep me awake. I want to sleep so badly, but Mr. J needs to be up for work later, so I don't want to fall asleep, just in case.

Time for some games, I think. *Smile*

We just got the lease, and it looks like we're required to get Renter's Insurance. It's a good idea to have it, but we were worried we couldn't afford it.

After some research, though, I got a quote from Geico at $77 a year. We can definitely do that! *Delight*

Also, we're not allowed to have any pets, not even fish or hermit crabs. *Frown*

Oops, gotta get back to moving. *Smile*

I found an image that I'd like to use here, but looking at the copyright/restrictions on use information, I'm confused. Here's what it says:

All materials (excluding certain banners, advertisements, certain javascript codes, Disney imagery, and selected materials) contained in this Site are the copyrighted property of Robert Nava. No material from TDE may be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted, or distributed in any way, except that you must give full credit to this site and/or the creator and provide a link, provided that (i) you keep intact any copyright and other proprietary notices, (ii) you make no modifications to the materials, (iii) you do not use the materials in a manner that suggests an association with any of the products, services, or brands, and (iv) you do not download quantities of materials to a database that can be used to avoid future downloads from TDE. For purposes of these terms, the use of any such material on any other Web site or computer environment is prohibited. All trademarks, service marks, trade names, and trade dress are proprietary to me.

At first it says as long as I give a link and full credit to the creator, it's okay. But the second to last sentence the use of any such material on any other Web site or computer environment is prohibited. Is "such material" referring to the images? or the database thing in the previous sentence?

I want to use the image, but I don't want to go against these rules. Hm.... Any ideas?

(Moving is going good, and we might be done today! I'm going to be leaving my computer here, though, until the internet is ready at the new apartment. The new issue goes online next week, and I can't afford to be without the internet for a while.)

We're supposed to start moving in today, even though we still haven't signed the lease. We feel a little weird about moving our stuff in without a signed lease. The only thing we're worried about is the landlords changing something for the lease, we don't like it, and decide not to rent from them. Then we'd have to unmove all our stuff! I don't think that will happen, though, but we're still nervous about it.

The closing on our house is in one week, which is why we're anxious to start moving. Well, that, and I can't wait to have access to all my stuff again! We're going to have our toaster! (We don't really trust toaster ovens...*Laugh*) My own coffeemaker! Oh man, I can't wait!!

TGIF! *Bigsmile*

Oh, and I ordered phone & internet at my new place, but the phone line is scheduled to be hooked up Monday. I'm thinking internet won't work (even if it's cable) without the phone line being turned on, so I probably won't be back until Monday, unless I sneak over to Ivy's house to get online. I might get the chance to be here on and off today, and there's a chance we won't stay at the new apartment tonight, so we'll see how it goes.

Yep, it's official -

My husband and I have been watching a show called Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel. It got me thinking about weird foods, and I think I want to create a "What's the weirdest thing you've eaten" poll, but I need some ideas first.

The weirdest thing I've eaten is squid (which is delicious, by the way).

What's the weirdest thing you've eaten?

or what's the weirdest thing you can imagine eating?

(yeah, I know, I really screwed up the blue month thing!)

Please take a look at my new poll!

 How are your letters?  (E)
a simple question about the keys on your computer's keyboard.
#1307641 by spidey

The guy at the computer store today said I must be typing an awful lot to wear off the keys on my keyboard. I can no longer see the following keys: SEDL

maybe I type the word "sled" a lot.... *Laugh*

The letters that are almost gone are: RCNMI, and the ones that are slightly faded are: AVFGTOKB<> and the enter and backspace buttons.

The good thing about typing so much is that I type around 85-90 wpm. I watched something on TV the other day, where a guy was like, "Wow, must have been typing 60 words per minute!" ....and I thought that was about normal.... *Laugh*

When I worked in data entry, they were always surprised at how fast I got projects done. That's definitely one skill I learned in high school that has paid off!

Okay, so enough reading. Go vote in that poll! *Bigsmile*

I'm nearly overwhelmed with stress right now! Seriously, does anyone know any good stress-relieving exercises?

I haven't even had any energy drinks today, though I feel like I have. My chest feels tight, my stomach hurts and I have to keep forcing myself to take deep breaths.

Maybe I'll make some green tea or something. Isn't that supposed to cure everything?

The SPAM and junk email I'm getting is getting crazy. I stopped emptying the bulk mail folder (since I read that it gets emptied once a month anyway), and since late last night, it already has 3,000 messages in it! What the heck is going on?? I also had about 700 emails waiting in my inbox this morning!

I'm trying to keep up with shows on the site, and get ready to print August's issue, and contact bands and businesses about advertising, and reply to emails, and coordinate bands for next month's issues, and on top of all that, someone removed themselves from a writing group I'm running with no explanation.

I think I need a nap. *Frown*

*sigh*

I'm having a slight tiff with Mondays lately. I can't see to get motivated!

I'm also having a problem with SPAM and junk email. Like more than a little problem. I checked the mailbox last night, and then overnight I got 500 messages! I checked it again just now and saw over 200 more! That's insane!

I've had our email address linked on our site for some time, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it...

I just might have to take a walk and get a Monster. I need to get the issue ready to print! It won't be done for Ivy today, but I want it to be done for tomorrow! I just need proper motivation.
