Cat loved Sky Store. Ever since she had discovered it, it had become her go-to place to find something fun to buy. She had been addicted to it for a while back in high school, but now she'd managed to limit the habit to what she thought was a reasonable level, saving it for special occasions. And of course, Sam's birthday should count as a special occasion.
Cat went through nearly the entire catalog looking for something to get Sam. She had hoped to find something for Sam's motorcycle, but she hadn't had any luck. Of course, almost everything sounded fun to Cat, but she doubted Sam would want a hat-mounted bubble machine or a funnel for eating Bibble faster. But then she got to the last page and saw something that just might work: a shrink ray! She thought it sounded super fun to see the world from a tiny size, so her plan began to develop. She would buy the shrink ray, shrink herself with it, and then SHE could be Sam's present.
She would stay tiny for a week and she and Sam could play little games like Hide and Seek in their apartment. Or they could play board games and Cat could be her own game piece! Cat didn't even think about the fact that Sam had never played a board game with her at a normal size. She just clicked "order" and grinned, confident that she'd made a good decision.
The shrink ray arrived the night before Sam's birthday. Cat did her best to act natural, but she wasn't very good at that, and it mostly involved her loudly saying "Hahaha" in an attempt to fake laughter. But Sam knew better than to follow up on every crazy thing Cat did, so she just told Cat to have fun and ignored it, leaving Cat all night to set up her plan...
The next morning, Cat woke up early and got things set up. The shrink ray was a delayed effect, taking 60 seconds to fully shrink the target. So she placed a gift box on the floor of their living room with the cap flipped open. There was a string from the inner edge of the cap that hung down into the box. Once Cat was ready, she zapped herself, placed the shrink ray back in her drawer, and then stood on her tiptoes inside the box. A few seconds later, her apartment began to rapidly grow around her, while she sank down into the box.
"Woah! This is going to be so much fun!" Cat said, marveling at her newfound stature. "Sam is going to be so surprised!" Then she pulled on her string, causing the lid of the box to swing shut over her head. Now she was in near complete darkness, and all that was left in the apartment was a gift box with "Sam, from Cat" written across the top.
Cat had no idea how long she had been in the box. She hadn't brought a watch, and the dark environment gave her nothing to observe time's passage. But after what felt like forever, Cat suddenly heard movement outside the box, and then the entire thing lurched, nearly knocking Cat off her feet.
Sam's voice boomed from outside the box: "Looks like Mama's got a present." Then the lid was lifted, revealing the blonde delinquent's enormous and confused-looking face.
"Happy birthday Sam!" Cat shouted, jumping up and down inside the box.
"Cat?! What the hell?"
"Surprise! I bet you didn't expect me to be your birthday present!" Cat shouted. Her already high-pitched voice was made higher by her new tiny size.
"Uhh... Definitely not." Sam said. "Let me guess: you bought some kind of shrinky thing on Sky Store?"
"Yup! I am going to be your little buddy for a whole week! I can go everywhere with you and we can play games together and it'll be super fun!" Cat said.
"Oh great..." Sam said with feigned enthusiasm. She couldn't imagine having Cat squeaking in her ear for the next week. Then again, she didn't need to put Cat anywhere near her ear. She was tiny, so Sam could do anything she wanted with her. "Actually, this is great Cat. I think you're the perfect size to help me out with a problem I've been having..."
What does Sam have in mind?
1. Sam uses Cat like a cotton swab to clean between her toes, quickly showing Cat this isn't going to be fun.
2. Sam says she has had something stuck in her teeth all morning, and pops Cat in her mouth to try to get it out.
3. Sam says her vibrator just broke, and she thinks Cat will make a good replacement until she can get a new one
4. Sam says her motorcycle seat is getting a little worn out, and Cat could help cushion it.
5. Sam says that Gwen & Ruby(The Brit Brats) are coming today for babysitting and that Cat would make a good doll for them to play with. (She agreed to babysit them despite past troubles cause their dad paid extra)   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
