Honest, for the most part. Not hurtful, for the most part. In other words I'll try to be straight up but not step on you face while I'm about it. Oh, by the way, this points business confuses me. I don't want to charge for a review. If I have the points in the bank I'll refund you 900. Why I'm required to ask 1000 is past my understanding.
I'm good at...
Not much. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, most of the mechanical stuff. Good eye for composition. I read a lot and I can give you a reader's opinion. Most good reviews are a fresh eye.

I see you are not a patriot. A patriot would never use such language about our sacred symbol. A true patriot flies the flag proudly, and if that patriot wears the flag it is in honor not a fashion statement. We, as true Americans, should have a flagpole in out front yards to honor our country and our leader and our leader's friends. The pole must be tall enough for Old Glory and the Russian tricolor. For now the American flag should be at the top, for now.

I end the reading unsure of the meaning, but certain all the end rhymes are firmly placed. Some things lie outside my ken: I never knew Valhalla was a liquid, but my school was weak on physics. The best lines are the first and the last. The meat of that sandwich is a mystery.

Enjoyable. there is a paradox in like that the poem acknowledges. No act of mercy, or act of destruction is uniformly evil or good. The butterfly goes free, a good thing maybe. the butterfly lays its eggs on my tomato plant and the off spring, a caterpillar, destroys the Homestead Beefsteak, but the butterfly as species lives on.

The story is appealing because it is as much about light keepers as it is light houses. The light house, whether manned or not, as beacon is not emphasized here. At sea, maps are called charts, and they are only interesting at the margins, that is where the sea touches land. The sea is uniformly dangerous everywhere, except where it intersects the shore, at that place it becomes deadly.

An honest self appraisal can be a terrifying thing to behold. Thank goodness I can be terrified vicariously through the Trials of ruwth. I do not believe Benjamin Franklin was nearly so honest when he wrote out his self improvement plan in his _Autobiography_ . But, it was a good plan, in theory.

Well now we know about those lines in the plains of South America and the crop circles I suppose. The story is topical to the speculation we see in popular tabloids and sensational books. For all we know the creator(s)might well have been off world spacemen and women. Not that much difference really. Good characterization of both aliens and a US President.

You have pretty much proven beyond any doubt that any writer will enter any contest for a small amount of prize purse as long as the ego is properly massaged.

While I see the theme has the benefit of providing a platform from which a writer may do his or her thing, the exhortation to save the world was melodramatic pomp, at least to this writer. I don't think I would enter this contest based on the advertising (the blue text) alone. I think I understand the genre you are hypothesizing: a pre-dystopian literature that will possibly entertain while saving the world, and I suppose there is a market for it.

Well, good luck with it.

super introductory chapter that sets forth the relationship of the two characters shown and gives significant detail about the characteristics of each. The significance of the discover could be made a little plainer to the reader. I have heard of "orgone" somewhere, but I can't recall where or how. Maybe a few more words about this substance, element, compound or concept would be helpful.

If I am reading this as the author intended, understanding as the author meant me to understand, it is a poem celebrating the joint effort. The team ideal is the theme. Poetry, of course, is never that simple, so the tem ideal is the community ideal, the community ideal is the overarching notion of the over soul. Or it may just be a football poem.

When the object is to make plain to a Finn the ways of the Apache there is bound to be a culture shock. This encounter is the epitome of culture shock. Because no one has ever heard of these two Species? there is bound to be a bit of tedium the reader has to endure. The writer handled that well by interposing human emotions such as fear, distrust, doubt, and anxiety into the Cremorian psyche.
Good job.

Hitchcockian in conception and execution, if this story doesn't rate a Quill award they may as well stop the program. I was hooked from start to finish and found no eye stoppers or slow parts. My disbelief was totally suspended and I can find no "constructive" criticism only envious praise.

The ending was expected, but you( sly dog) knew that and preempted such expectation like a master.

Some might quarrel with the amount of repetition, but for me at least it suited the poem and reinforced the idea. I suppose that this is some "form" of poetry of which I, in my ignorance, should be expected to know and comment about. Sorry I don't have that ability of knowledge. I'm like the guy in the museum who doesn't know art but knows what he likes. I like it.

Well that was an eye opener. I scored fourteen out of twenty -one and frankly I did better than I expected. Most of the questions I either guessed at or tried to puzzle out what an "expected or accepted" answer might be. I really don't care about being right on this test, but it was interesting.
Thanks for sharing and the points.

I see this was written in 2009 for a contest. I hope you won something because it was a well written story and deserves a prize. I wonder what you would change about it with ten years or so of hindsight working for you? Just a rhetorical question, but time does add a perspective.
Thanks

Love the action. The inner monologue is spot on, all the tension and ambition captured and plucked out of a flurry of detail so interesting I almost lost sight of the fact that the batter scored a RBI, that Johnson tied it up and though I'm not sure when Wrigley field discovered electricity, if the bulbs shine on there is more to the story.

The great thing about these contests is they make you write. The bad thing about these contests is they let you write something less than your best to achieve a test worthy result. Perfect Triolet, bravo. How did you like the poem, Mrs. Lincoln?

Well crazy glue won't do it. I'm just going to take that as a rhetorical question and move on, because if I knew I'd bottle it and make a mint. Oh, wait it is bottled - never mind.

"jocking for attention" My spell checker lit up, did yours. Now when I insert "jockeying" it stays calm. What do you think, room for a one word edit?

Good poem. Thanks

Just got back from Florida. Place had a balcony facing west. Made me appreciate the sunset and my retinas.

Always liked the sun, it's apparent motion in the sky. The way light is subtly different in the winter. Made a sundial as a kid piled stones around a post that sort of thing. Nice oem, thanks for sharing.

Brevity is the soul of wit. That was at any rate, brief and witty I mean. I caught on to the grand theft auto early, but so what- it was still funny and Lucy and Ethel were still entertaining right up to the arraignment. Somehow I can read ahead to the fashion show, yeah orange is in.
Thanks

If the voice of narration is to be considered Athena, and the time is considered to be just after the Trojan war then "volt" a term from 1800 CE is an anachronism. Athena says "pass madness" could this be a typo and the intended word be "past"?
