Review of Exhausted
Review by Moomintroll
Rated: E | (4.5)
Well written.

Your opening words well describe the empty, helpless feelings of so many of us when we witness the dstruction our beautiful planet.

Your final line is very powerful, and humble. We are unwilling participants of this destruction, this rape. We have no more power over what happens to earth than we have over governments and kings!

However, we do have the promises of one who is greater and more powerful than the powers that control our lives. Let me leave you with a wonderful promise from our creator:

"God will bring to ruin those ruining the earth."

Those words were spoken by Jesus about 2,000 years ago. Think about it - the earth wasn't being ruined then!

I wish you peace.

Yet, here you are, drawn to this community of writers. This is a good place to be, it has many fellow sufferers who are relating their sorrow in a dignified and beautiful manner.

It seems that life has dealt harshly with you and has made you question your own worth.

You mention jobs, families, dreams. All important, to a degree, but we often lose sight of our place in the universe. Do you believe that you were created? Do you believe that the one who created you knew what he was doing?

Through the pages of the Bible, your creator speaks and, he understands your sorrow and your low self-esteeem. King David wrote - "Your eyes saw even the embryo of me" and that "A heart broken and crushed, oh God, you will not despise."

When you feel at your lowest, and alone, when you feel worthless in the world's eyes, remember that your creator does not see you that way. the Bible says;

"Whatever our hearts may condemn us in, God is greater than our hearts , and knows all things."

For the future, including your future, the Bible promises;

"He will wipe every tear from the eyes, and death will be no more, nor will sorrow, nor outcry, nor pain."

I wish you peace.

Really like this ("like" is probably wrong word!)

I love the way you capture so many intense feelings in so few words. For me, that is the sign of a gifted writer. I use far too many words when I write.

You words can be a healing process for others because they remind them that they are not alone.

Keep writing.

I wish you peace.

Review of Mental Mess
Review by Moomintroll
Rated: E | (4.0)
You capture the whirlpool of mental illness really well with your words. I know it must have taken some effort and courage to write these words and, I admire you for it. In sharing your experiences on this site, you give a voice to the many who are in deep despair with mental anguish. By reading your words, many are assured that they are not alone.

You must keep writing such powerful words, for yourself and others.

As a fellow sufferer, may I share a positive thought with you? I have faith in our creator and I trust his promises in the Bible. Let me leave you with one such promise;

"God will wipe every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will sorrow, nor anguish, nor pain."

I wish you peace.

Your opening words are promising. You write with a good flow and a positive note. Your first words are definately worthy of attention.

If I may humbly offer a little advice, you should find a subject, a theme or goal, something you are passionate about. I think it would unlock your full potential.

Just a thought.

Well written.

I wish you peace.

I must admit, when I first saw your words I thought that you had cut short something. But then I read it again. I think I understand and, I think your words are powerful and beautiful and sad.

As someone who knows the dark depths of the soul, I wondered at your last word - "Free."

Well written.

I wish you peace.

Review of I Never Knew You
Review by Moomintroll

I enjoyed your article very much and, I'm glad someone called time on the heated exchanges going on in the world (particularly on the internet).

As you so rightly point out, it is a shame that the two combatants feel that they are diametrically opposed and have no common ground. I know of many atheists who entertain the concept of other dimensions, time travel and even spirits. Yet I also know many religious people who are interested in science, in fact many of them have a scientific background. Unfortunately the world has invented stereotypes for both religious and non- religious people.

You are absolutely right about Christians not getting involved in heated arguments. The Bible atually condemns such things. However, it must be said that a Christian has certain scriptural responsibilities toward God and his son, namely to share the good news of the kingdom. In the Bible God says to his people, "You are my witnesses." God doesn't need protection but, when the world is accusing him of all manner of evils, he does grant his people the right to speak about the love that God has shown.

Anyway, good writing. Hopefully it will cool a few hot heads.

I wish you peace.

I enjoyed your article. You are very observant and you bring out details from the Genesis account which are not noticed by many. Your comment about archery is particularly insightful. You obviously research the things you write about.

You paint a noble picture of the first human couple, with Adam choosing a double suicide, like Romeo and juliet (perhaps that was what Shakespeare was alluding to?). Your interpretation of the events in Eden seem tangible, at first glance. However, with, respect, you have overlooked some details in the Genesis account.

First of all, Eve would not have deteriorated or died on that day, despite God saying she would. The original Hebrew word "day" is preceded by the the adverb “in, rather than "on". The Bible was not referring to a 24 hour period, neither were the creative days 24 hour periods. Elsewhere in the Bible it tells us that God uses “a day for a year” when making certain prophecies. Finally, Peter tells us that “One day is as a thousand years to God.” Sometimes a lifetime is described by the word “day” (“in Noah's day”). Remember that God told Adam that "In the day you eat from the tree, you will positively die." But, ask yourself, what would have happened if Adam (and Eve) had not eaten from the tree? They would have continued living indefinately.

As regards Adam being noble and willing to die for his love. notice his words, when confronted by God. Eve blames "The serpent who deceived me." Adam actually cowers, to save his own skin and betrays his wife by saying "The woman you gave me, she made me eat." The truth is that Adam sought independence, the first democracy, and rejected God's love and generosity.

The good news is that God hasn't given up on the human race. He has arranged for us to be restored to perfection and unending life. "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven."

Sorry to ramble but, I do feel strongly about God's creation.

Good article.

Review of For Dad

This is so strong and deep. Your words are so raw that they caught me in a recollection of memories. Your love and devotion seep through the words.

These days, many are ungrateful for the love their parents give them. It is so refreshing to read your words about your dear dad, he must be an exceptional man.

I also read your poem anout your brother. I have to assume that it is not fictional and that you lost him. I am so sorry, if that is true.

May I leave you with a comforting thought?

Jesus promised that all those who pass away will be remembered and brought back to life, in perfect health. Remember that prayer - "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven." Guess what God's will is for us?

"Death will be no more, neither will sorrow nor crying nor pain."

I wish you peace.

Lovely words, lovely dreams. Your writing shows your yearning for justice and peace. I like the way you compare colours to the human experience.

I wanted to share a lovely thought with you. Did you know that all the things you wish for in your writing have been promised by our creator?

Jesus taught us to pray "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven."

Guess what God's will for the earth is? The Bible tells us;

"God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will sorrow nor crying or pain."

"Happy are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."

I wish you peace.

I enjoyed your article and your experiences. You seem to be genuinely searching for truth, not easy in this dogma-saturated world! I agree that organized religion has been a terrible representative for God throughout history. However, you may be surprised to learn that the very book that millions of religions follow - the Bible, actually denies and condemns their beliefs and ativities.

Regarding faith, it has been misrepresented and presented as a blind optimism or a credulity without evidence. Neither is true. Feel free to read my articles on "Faith" and "Suffering." Oh, and by the way, you were right, the Bible does not teach that there is a fiery "Hell."

Just because a tool is used for a wrong purpose, it does not mean that the tool was badly made or is of no use. Please give God a chance to answer the many accusations. Read the Bible for yourself, instead of another philosopher's (who has not read it) interpretation of it.

I wish you peace.

It's not often I read someone trying to encourage and support others who suffer from this numbing affliction. You should be proud because Jesus himself said that "There is more happiness in giving than receiving."

An interesting perspective. Your words encourage a positive approach, which cannot be a bad thing, in this negative world.

I respectfully disagree that "Failure is the only thing which helps you learn." According to Einstein, "The only knowledge is experience." This suggests that sometimes we can learn from successes too.

As far as our creator is concerned, depression or sadness are not weaknesses or sins but, rather a reflection of concern about life. Who would not be depressed or concerned over the apalling state of this world? Jesus himself lamented the world he beheld.

The Holy scriptures encourage believers to "Speak consolingly to the depressed souls" and assure us that "A heart broken and crushed, oh God, you will not despise."

It is good to be positive. However, in a world which the scriptures describe as "Lying in the power of the wicked one", it is wise to look to God for salvation, not ourselves.

I wish you peace.

This is very heartfelt and honest. I love the way you describe your mother as a "This woman" - very crafty!

All too true. As a parent, I can testify that nothing underlines love as much as beholding your child.

You are fortunate to have a mum who cares so much, there are many in this world who have never experienced motherly love.

May I share a description of love I learned many years ago?

"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous. It does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails."

Good article.

I wish you peace.

Although your work reflects conflct and disturbance, it also conveys determination and inner strength. I love the way you mingle nature with mental torment - "Willow trees" and "Shooting stars." I am glad that your internal struggle ends in optimisim.

May I leave you with a wonderful thought, from Jesus?

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for what is right, for they shall be filled."

Good writing.

Your words are powerful and insighful. It is obvious that you despair over the wickedness in our world, wickedness inflicted by All sides, so-called Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist etc.

You refer to the Bible, which I have read several times. I should point out that the Bible does not encourage war against Arabs. God passed judgement on several nations which were irredeemable becuase they were practising such disgusting things as child sacrifice, bestiality, temple prostitution. This was God's judgement, not mans. God has the right to set the standard of right and wrong.

You mention Jesus. No nation today can claim to be His followers, as long as they are willing to wage war. Jesus warned that "Any who take up the sword (or weapon) shall perish by the sword."

He further said that "People will kll you and think they have rendered a sacred service to God." But He went on to say that "They will do these things becuase they have not come to knoe either the Father or the son." This rules out any religion that uses violence to promote it's aims.

Regarding "Divine tradition", there is no such thing. Jesus condemned the "Traditions of men." Furthemore, the pope was, and never will be the descendent of Peter, and Peter was not the founder of Christianity, Jesus was.

The Catholic Church is so far removed for Jesus' teaching not to "Lord it over" others.

Sorry to ramble but, in your sincere concerns about religion, you have misunderstood God.

God promises peace for the earth, when "Thy Kingdom comes, thy will be done, ON EARTH as it is in Heaven."

Good writing.

I read your article with great interest. You cover the subject with a fair assessment. You are writing about a controversial subject that is close to the American hearts, yet you demonstrate a balance in your perspective.

I am surprised that this ever became an issue in our nations (supposedly Christian) because the founder of Christianity (Jesus) who frequently refused political power, commanded His followers to be "No part of this world." He went on to reveal that "My Kingdom is no part of this world." Ultimately, a Christian should not vote for, or place confidence in any political entity, no matter how noble, because the Bible warns that God will "Crush and put an end to all these kingdoms."

Thought you might like to know.

Well written.

I was moved by your heartfelt words about praying. I could tell from your words that you communicate with our heavenly father regularly, as do I.

I like the way that you break prayer down into different areas of life and worship, I hadn't given that much thought before.

I did want to pick up on something you said about praying for deliverance when facing an incident. Surely, as Christians, we should never be driving too fast and breaking the law?

On a more positive note, I have known many believers who are confused as to why God allows such terrible things in the world. I try to comfort them with Jesus' words;

"Thy kingdom come, thy will be done ON EARTH as it is in Heaven." Too many Christians focus on Heaven and forget the earth. yet God says that He will "Bring to ruin those ruining the earth."

Jut some thoughts.

Good writing.

What a precious expression!

You write lovely, humble words. You must have a deep faith in God to feel inspired to write about Him.

I too have a love and appreciation for our heavenly Father. I read the Bible regularly. Please let me leave you with one of my favourite sciptures, to encourage you to keep writing;

"Do not be afraid, for I am with you, I will really help you. I will lead you with my right hand of righteousness."

I wish you "The peace of God that surpasses all understanding."

Your words are beautiful and sad. You capture something unique in your writing, the connection between hope and time. Isn't it ironic that the same wonderful things that can inspire us and give us joy (the sunrise and sunset) can becoame a reminder of age and time?

I too am "getting on in life" and I am painfully aware of the lack of empathy from the world towards us "oldies." Yet, I know from my searching the Bible that God does not see us that way.

God's word reassures us that "Grey-headedness is a crown of beauty, when found in the way of righteousness." Apparently, to God, it doesn't matter how old we are (Abraham had a child when he was in his nineties) but rather, what kind of person we are.

The good news is that the Bible promises that when "Thy kingdom comes and thy will is done, on earth as it is in Heaven," we will cease to age and, we will actually get younger. "Let them return to the days of their youth, let their flesh become fresher than when they were young."

Take courgae and have hope. God will not let us down!

Good writing.

This is passionate and profound. You contrast the beautiful, natural sky above, with the events we create below. You are obviously disturbed by the way the human race is heading.

I too feel sad at the state of our world and the divisions we see.

Fortunately, I have genuine hope because I read the Bible, rather than listen to what religious leaders say.

Did you know that the Bible foretold all the things that are happening in the world today? It's true.

But, the good news is that Jesus promised "Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done ON EARTH, as it is in Heaven."

Stubborn mankind won't change. We are destroying our planet and the leaders don't care. Yet the Bible also promises that "God will bring to ruin those ruining the earth."

Good writing.
