Review of Lest We Forget
Review by Kenzie
Rated: E | (5.0)
This is great, Daizy May . I love the sig too. It certainly is appropriate to this poem and for you in general. *Bigsmile*

I always read your poems aloud. They flow well and the rhymes are good. And the messages are always the best.

Your poems make my day.

Kenzie

Thanks, Daizy May for sharing such an honest story about your past. If you felt compelled to write it, there is probably someone who needs to see your story. Perhaps it's a young woman struggling with putting a baby up for adoption. Or a young person who wonders about his/her own birth mother.

You've told the story well.

Blessings,
Kenzie

A good reflection of time come and gone. *Smile*

Sometimes capitals and periods don't matter. At other times, not having them is more distracting than having them. Of course, it's your choice.

You do need a bit of cleaning up, though. Your commas aren't placed correctly in a few places. Also, you've spelled the word "none" wrong.

Thanks for sharing.

Review of BUT, AHH
Review by Kenzie

Jesus ruffled feathers, right? *Smile* It's sad that we've neglected teaching what an important instruction manual the Bible really is. Following what we should - even verses like these - makes life so much easier for us all. Shouldn't the Creator know what is best for us?

Still, a woman submitting to her husband only works perfectly if the man loves the way he's directed as well.

Some suggestions:

The presents of a roof over your families head or the absence of one... presence

Of coase she is going to make you mad. course

If fathers are to busy to take time to teach, listen and correct their children then, shouldn’t we expect to have many angry children? ...too busy to take time to teach...

If I’m allowed to be in his presents after, I die, to me that would be a win presence

Thanks for sharing.

Kenzie

Amen. A short poem with a wonderful message. That is exactly as it's supposed to be...and probably the reason the U.S. si so messed up. How it's supposed to be and how it is really are far different.

Good rhythm and rhymes.

Thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful story. Imagine cemetary memories being wonderful. *Smile* The picture is good. It helps us understand. The recalling of your snow adventures almost made me feel young again.

I'll bet they don't let kids sled ride in the cemetary. Times have certainly changed.

I don't think I ever looked fondly on cemetaries as you did. But perhaps that's because I never considered taking a book and my lunch to one.

You've been rather busy for one so new to Writing.com. Good for you. And to have established a method for rating and reviewing this early on is a great accomplishment. *Smile*

It helps to know how one does rate and review, and you've explained yourself rather well.

I liked your comment about not tricking you into reading. I totally agree. Sometimes the titles and descriptions don't really fit with what appears on the page, and it's disappointing.

Thanks for sharing. And, again, welcome aboard.

Review of Lie of the Storm
Review by Kenzie
Rated: E | (4.5)
Some excellent thoughts and phrases here, wrapped together as a poem. This is definitely one to make us ponder and think ourselves. *Smile*

These words are sad but true:

The storm makes us afraid
to go outside,
afraid to love
even ourselves;
afraid to live
and to die.

I'm with you. I'd much rather have a rainbow than a storm.

Good writing. *Smile* Both stories sound as if they did happen or could have happened.

I love how you described playing the guitar: clobbering a classic or two.

I was a bit confused by the rattle description, but then, I've never seen a rattlesnake.

Review of My Life's Work
Review by Kenzie

Thanks for sharing a little about life as a teacher. I really appreciated these words:

I am still humbled by it, and rely on the fear that I may lead someone astray to keep me on track as an educator. I want to give back to the system that gave me such a hunger for knowledge.

Sadly, I don't think all teachers - not in today's world - think this way.

Since prayer was offered at the beginning of the project, I take it this was not in a public school setting. I think you'd really be an inspiration there.

Thanks for sharing.

Wow, TexansBeatTheMiamiDolphinsBy3 . Talk about a Holy Spirit annointing! I have read things in this folder, but I guess I never read the folder's introduction. Either that or you recently changed it, but I think it's the first. *Smile*

If you surrender your mouth and tongue to His teachings, the lion's share of your spiritual work is DONE. So true.

Thanks for being obedient, even when it gets you in trouble with the world.

Review of Not By Chance

I loved this!

This part made me chuckle:

"i}"Yes, dear, I understand, that’s the way the Fortune Cookie Crumbles," I wanted to reply and effectively cliche you to death.

Then this part made me want to shout, "No! Don't!"

But if you’ll just look in my eyes,
I might just believe.

Review of Seriously

Interesting poll. One has to wonder, though, about those whose answers say that they sometimes choose a fun answer, and about those show say there is a 50/50 chance that their answers will be true or not. Hmmm. When they admit to being serious only 50% of the time, are they really being serious? Or are they just having fun?

Thanks for sharing.

Wow. This offers quite a wake-up call. The rhythm is good, and rather than forcing rhymes, you've used soft rhymes where necessary. Good job. *Smile*

Sadly, even I who am moved by these words probably will not take any action. That's the world in which we now live. Unless something touches us specifically and right in our own backyard, none of us are really ready to fight for change.

Thanks for sharing.

I loved what your title and description told. Isn't it amazing sometimes how we can suddenly place beautiful words upon the page and wonder we were really the author or just the transcriber?

Thanks for sharing. Don't let those moments escape, when you just have to stop and write. And then are amazed at the results.

Good thought process here. *Smile* Kansaspoet pointed out something that could help, and I tend to agree.

Sometimes it is difficult to comprehend how much love our Lord has for us because we don't feel worthy. But we don't have to be, we just have to believe.

What a great story. It's amazing what kids will say. And what they really mean when they say those strange things. *Bigsmile* I think when my son was that young, I finally learned (after a few incidents like this) to ask exactly what he meant when he started some new mantra. It didn't help that he probably had a mild case of Asperger's and took everything literally. Yikes.

Anyway, good story. I liked how you showed your thought process. And that comment at the end about grandma's dentures is priceless. But I think they do entertain most kids.

Thanks for sharing.

The English language is enough to drive you nuts, isn't it? Good poem.

I did wonder about the first lines, though:

Enumerating first things first
Often make me think I'm cursed.

I think, perhaps, it should be:

Enumerating first things first
Oftens makes me think I'm cursed.

Review of When is it Love?
Review by Kenzie
Rated: E | (4.0)
Good poem. As I read this aloud, it flowed nicely and the rhymes made sense. What "bothered" me was the use of "their" and "them" when speaking of one love.

I would change these:

they have a purpose in your life
he has a purpose...

because you have no faults in their eyes
...in his eyes

the most important thing is letting them know
...letting him know

that you would do anything for them
...for him

and you love them too much to ever let go
...love him too much...

This is something many people do, but it sounds so much better if you're only talking about one person. {e::smile} (Unless you really are talking about loving a group of folks.)

Thanks for sharing.

Review of What is Islam?
Review by Kenzie

Dr Taher writes again! , you've done a great job of describing what Islam means to you, as well as your spiritual journey - including the ups and downs. *Smile*

I smiled as I read, "Islam is the only religion which tells the believer about every aspect of day to day life." This is most likely true, but our Old Testament also has many instructions about life matters that it seems overwhelming.

Thanks for sharing this one. It does give us some insight into your faith and your faith journey.

You did a fantastic job of explaining these verses. It's sad that we so often forget that we are one body and that we should not be arguing amongst each other.

Your last lines spoke volumes to me: "But, isn't it wonderful to know that we will be permitted to take one precious possession with us into heaven. That is the love contained in our hearts."

I never really thought about it that way, but I think you're right. Love will be the only possession we will be able to take with us. *Smile*

Love never fails.

You have some absolutely wonder lines in your "This Is Islam" poem.

For instance:

It believes in brotherhood
Among believers all.
Yet, for non-believers in
Islam, it wishes fall.

And:

If Islam can get rid of
Chaff and yet keep the grain.
Not only Islam, but the
Whole world will stand to gain.

I think those last words could hold true for any faith.

Thanks for sharing.

Kenzie
