Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Isaiah 53:2-5
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Have you ever experienced a personal healing or seen someone else healed?

Answer:
I have witnessed a healing. When I was around 10, my mom burned herself on our new microwave. She put a loaf of bread in there to defrost it and forgot to take the twisty tie off. It caught fire, and she put it out with her hands rather than risking the house catching on fire. As a result, her hands blistered.

I went to vacation Bible School that day and requested prayer for her from everyone who would listen. She had wrapped her hands so she could take me and pick me up before heading to the doctor. When she picked me up, one of the ladies asked her if she could see her hands. Mom took the wrappings from her hands to show the lady. We all got a surprise when she unwrapped them. Her hands were as though they had never been burned. I don't know that I would have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes. I had seen the burns and blisters that morning. By afternoon they were completely gone.

I wrote this in 2019 on Facebook.

Reflecting on 24 years ago today. My heart is saddened by the tragedy that took place that day. I can't help but remember it. It feels like a lifetime ago. Although I was fortunate to not lose someone I loved that day, I knew people who did. I heard so many stories in the following weeks and months about how lives were affected and changed. It was like a dark cloud hanging over my high school graduation which was only a month and day after that. I felt the ground shake and heard what sounded like thunder when the bomb went off downtown. I was at home and nearly fell out of the shower because the ground shook so hard. I had the privilege of helping a friend who worked for the city answer some of the letters that poured in from other people and high school aged students from around the country. Their were so many and they didn't want any of them to go unanswered. It is hard in some ways to explain how it affected me personally. No I am not a victim of it, but to witness the aftermath of something like that so close to home deffinately leaves it mark or impression. It is hard to believe that some of the children affected are grown and now pursuing their own careers now. It makes me feel kind of old....

Scripture writing - James 2:5-10

Scripture:
5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Observations:
Verse 5- God chooses the poor of the world but rich in faith.
Verse 6- People despise the poor and prefer the rich who oppress them.
Verse 7- The Rich people despise God.
Verse 8- You do well if you love your neighbors as yourself.
Verse 9- If you have favoritism, you sin.
Verse 10- If you offend in one point of the law, you are guilty of breaking all of it.

Application:
If you commit one tiny sin, you are a transgressed of God's law. Even if you do good, you have broken it. We can not have favoritism with other people. We should treat everyone equally.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Help me to treat everyone equally without favoritism. Let me not despise or mistreat those who are less fortunate.
In Christ's name I ask it,
Amen

Prompt: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
How successful are you in resisting the kind of world Emerson is talking about? Or if you wish, how successful can anyone be in resisting that world?

Oh I am definitely myself and proud of it. Many have tried to change me and failed. I can not pretend to be something I am not. I simply can not stand it. I think that is partly the preacher’s kid in me. It has earned me a reputation of sometimes being a rebel. In some ways I certainly can be. I try to be one in a good way now though. That wasn't always the case.

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Luke 9:2-6
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.
5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

Have you ever gone out witnessing? Write about your experience.

Answer:
Yes, I have gone out door to door witnessing and inviting people to church. Overall, every time I have done so, it has been a positive experience.

When I was a little girl, I would go out with my mother. She wanted me to learn how to share the gospel and pray with others. We simply invited people to our church. If they requested prayer, we would pray with them right then and there. These were some good times with my mother. As an adult, I never forgot going out with my mother. I think it helped me have a boldness I would not otherwise have.

I also went out as an adult to try to help build the membership of a small country church. This is another experience I won’t forget. I went with an eldely lady who was strong in her faith. She taught me quite a bit about being able to read people to see if they were really interested or not. We had some great front porch conversations with believers and none-believers alike. She taught me how to witness in a respectful way to others with different beliefs while remaining firm in my own. This lady has since passed away, but I will never forget the friendship she showed me, the fellowship with others, or the lessons she taught me.

I feel we need to have wisdom and the leading of the Holy Spirit when we are sharing our beliefs with others. Our gospel is a gospel of Peace. Our God is a God of peace. We have to be ready to be respectful of others, suffer criticism, and humble ourselves to effectively witness to others. We can't cram the gospel down people’s throats and except them to listen. Jesus is a gentle Savior, not a cruel and forceful one. God is a God of love, and we must share the gospel in a loving way. The Gospel is about making people whole, not tearing them apart with actions and words.

Scripture writing - Isaiah 58:6-9

Scripture:
6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.
9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

Observations:
Verse 6- If we are going to fast, these are the acceptable reasons. It is to break the bounds of evil from our lives and others.
Verse 7- God desires that we continue to do good works while we are fasting. We are to feed the hungry, help the poor, give clothes to who needs them, and take care of our own family’s needs as well.
Verse 8- If we fast for this reason, there are promises that go along with it. Your health will recover, you will experience God's glory, and you will see the light.
Verse 9- If you clean up your act, the Lord will answer you when you call on him.

Application:
Basically, learn how to act right with the right motives and you will be blessed.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me have the right attitude in worship, prayer, and other things I do. Let me to remember to be kind always, and to be attentive to the needs of others.
In Christ's name,
Amen

3. Birds chirping
4. Lawnmowers
5. Rain
6. Wind blowing
7. Squirrels barking
8. Tornado warnings
9. The weather channel

I never really thought about sounds associated with spring. It's not like you can hear flowers blooming or ants marching in their rows. But I live in Oklahoma and it is tornado season here. I don't want to jinx us, but it hasn't been bad yet this year. Although the weather can't seem to make up its mind if it wants to be hot or cold. Next week, Monday’s high temp is supposed to be 71 degrees and Tuesday we have a chance of snow. Go figure! 🤷‍♀️

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
What is the meaning of Philippians 2:7?

Philippians 2:7
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

Answer:
He humbled himself. He didn't come in acting like God and all better than us. He came in acting like one of us, and not only that, but took on one of the lowest social statuses. I don't think he could be much more humble. What do you think?

Scripture writing - Hebrews 13:1-3;16

Scripture:
1 Let brotherly love continue.
2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Observations:
Verse 1- We must continue to walk in the love of Christ.
Verse 2- We should always be kind to everyone, especially strangers. We never know when we are entertaining angels without knowing it.
Verse 3- We should not forget to be kind to those who are in prison or are suffering for other reasons even if they deserve it. We also have been deserving of suffering for sins we have committed. We are no better than they are. Christ died for all. We all need a savior.
Verse 16- God is well pleased when we do good and communicate his love to others.

Application:
Everything we do should be for God's glory. Everything we do and say should communicate God's love to everyone.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for loving us so much. May everything we do or say reflect that love you have given us.
In christ’s name I ask it,
Amen

#2223406 by amy-Has a great future ahead

Tell us about a time you were misunderstood.

I think sometimes I have lived a big part of my life being misunderstood, especially by my parents. There was a huge age gap between us. My dad was 47 and my mom was 36 when I was born. I was often the misfit in elementary school. I was always considered different or weird. It got better as I got older and learned how to interact better with others my age and to communicate.

if you could create a charity, what would it be called? What would be the cause and what celebrity would be your spokesperson?

I think my charity would have something to do with helping the homeless. I don't know what it would be called and what celebrity would get involved. The streets are a rough place to be forced to live. A cousin of mine got into drugs and ended up homeless for awhile. It was heartbreaking because I didn't know how to help her.

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Like 3:4-6
4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Write about how God has made your paths strait.

Answer:
I think this happens for most people as they turn the control of their life over to God. Some change is more gradual than others. I have learned that it is getting into the Word of God and staying in it that creates the change. It was not until I started reading my Bible regularly that true change began to happen in my own life. The Bible itself talks about the washing of water by the Word of God.

Ephesians 5:23-29
23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church

Scripture writing - Genesis 18:1-5

Scripture:
18 And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

Observations:
This is when Abraham showed hospitality to the Angel of the Lord who appeared as a stranger. Abraham had asked God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if so many good people were found in them. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

Application:
I do see where Abraham tried to care for their physical needs as well as mental and emotional. He told them to stay and comfort their hearts.

Prayer:
God,
Thank you for the good things you have given us. Help me to remember that you bless me so I can bless others. Forgive me for when I have been selfish. Help me to remember to attend to the needs of others also.
In Christ’s name,
Amen

. The author talks about feeling lost. Have you ever felt lost and hopeless? What happened?

Yes, I have felt that way when I was younger. I have already talked about it in a previous blog. It was a time when I felt suicidal. When I was a teen, there were a few times I would huff white out, finger ale polish, markers, and anything I could get my hands on just to numb the pain I felt inside. I would pray. I didn't want to die, but I didn't want to continue living life the way it was. My dad was a preacher but he was abusive verbally and physically. My mom was an enabler. My teen years were not the best years of my life. They were some of my worst.

Prompt:

Answer:
When my roommate and I moved into these apartments, we had been living with her brother for 3 years in a miserable situation. Right after our application was approved, the ownership of the apartments changed. The new owners told us if we had not already had our application approved through the other company, they would not have approved us. God had our backs. Plus we only had to pay one pet deposit for 2 small dogs. The new company wasn't happy about that, but thankfully, I had gotten everything in writing. So we moved in back in 2015 and have been here ever since then. It has actually been a very nice apartment complex. I feel so blessed to be here.

Scripture writing - Galatians 6:7-10

Scripture:
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Observations:
Verse 7- A man always keeps what he sews
Verse 8- If he sews evil, he will reap evil. If he sews good works according to God's will, he will reap the blessings promised in the Bible to those who fear God and act according to his word.
Verse 9- we will eventually reap everything we have sewn even if it is delayed a little while. Don't give up!
Verse 10- when we have the opportunity, we should always do good especially to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Application:
The bottom line is that we should always do good works, especially to fellow believers.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me to always choose to do good works and to never fail to help my brothers and sisters in Christ. Remind me to keep my eyes on the prize of eternity spent with you.
In Jesus's name,
Amen

Prompt: Write about an important news story.

I have lived to hear quite a few of those. There has been a lot of history lived out in the last 44 years. I was a toddler when Elvis died. I was in 3rd grade when the space shuttle exploded. I was in junior high school when desert storm happened. The year of my high school graduation was the Okc bombing. I was working at Foley's when the 911 attacks occurred. I lived in Okc when the May 3rd, 1999 tornado occurred. My best friend’s cousin, who happened to be the Mayor in a small town named, Minco was murdered by his mother in law. Let me see, the word pandemic ring a bell? Yeah, I have lived through many major news stories. I was accidentally a part of one when I was a teenager. A woman had been raped a few doors down from where I lived and the news crews were interviewing the neighbors. I happened to be on my front porch at the time. My parents were not too happy I had ended upon the evening news. Lol I guess I have had my 15 seconds of fame. 🤷‍♀️

I haven't been to the zoo lately so I don't think I can write about as many animals as are mentioned in the poem. 😂 My dad had a love for animals though. He would get food out of trash cans and set it out for stray or wild animals where he worked as a night security guard. He had strategic places he would set the food. There was a red fox he Was feeding. He would sometimes see a raccoon and a bobcat around there. I think he would have even tried to make friends with a skunk 🦨 if he could have.

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Write about a time you asked the Lord for directions and he told you what to do.

Answer:
I am always asking God for directions. Isaiah 30:21 is a reality to me.

Isaiah 30:21
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

One day when I was doing laundry in the laundry room of the apartment complex I live in, I saw an elderly lady struggling to bring her laundry in to do it. I felt compelled to help her, so I did. I heard the still small voice say, “You need to pray for her” I prayed with her right there in the laundry room. It turns out that she is a fellow believer in Christ.

A couple of weeks later, I ran into her in the laundry room again. She had a story to tell me. After the previous visit to the laundry room where I had prayed with her, she had gone to the ER. She had been feeling very week. She told me she had almost died that night.

You see, after she had gone to the hospital, they found out she was internally bleeding. They had to do an emergency surgery to find and stop the bleeding and gave her a blood transfusion. She ended up staying in the hospital a few days.

She was praising God and thanking me in tears for praying for her. We had a little praise and worship session right there in the laundry room thanking God for his protection and healing.

Scripture writing - Galatians 5:13-15;22-23

Scripture:
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Observations:
Verse 13- In Christ, we have freedom. We should use that freedom to love each other and not for sinful, selfish reasons.
Verse 14- Basically, other than Loving God with your whole heart, all the other commandments are about loving your neighbor as yourself.
Verse 15- It is common sense that if we fight each other, someone will get hurt.

Verse 22 and 23- These are a list of the things produced and encouraged by the Spirit of God.

Application:
It all comes down to the golden rule: Treat others how you yourself wants to be treated.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me to treat others how I want to be treated and to pursue your peace and peace with others. You are a God of peace. Thank you for your grace and mercy. I love you.

Amen

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Psalm 118:5
I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.

Write about a time that you called upon the Lord and he rescued you.

Answer:
God has rescued me many times. I have even seen angels with my own eyes on more than one occasion. I live in Oklahoma, so I have a funnel cloud story. There was a lowering funnel cloud headed straight for my parents’ house where I was at. I prayed for God's protection. I had hung up clothes to dry on the clotheslines that day. We had not expected the storm. I would normally take my tornado precautions, but I felt led by the Spirit to talk directly to the cloud. I went outside where I could see the lowering in the cloud. The clothes were blowing so hard in the wind, I thought they might all blow away. I looked directly at the cloud and said, “Do not come down. You will not do any damage today, in Jesus’ name.” I saw the cloud immediately raise back up and the winds calm down. I felt the Holy Spirit’s presence, and I just started praising God. The Lord calmed the storm and rescued me and my family from disaster.

Scripture writing - Ephesians 4:2-3;32

Scripture:
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Observations:
Verses 2-3- Edeavor to keep the bond of unity in peace by showing the utmost love and respect to one another.
Verse 32- Be kind and forgiving toward others because God has forgiven us through the blood of Christ.

Application:
Be kind. Love each other deeply. Forgive one another because you have been forgiven by God.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help us to love each other the way you love us. Help us to be quick to forgive and slow to anger.
In Christ’s name I ask it,
Amen

Sunday’s Scripture writing - Ephesians 2:8-10

Scripture:
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Observations:
Verse 8- Salvation is a gift from God by grace through faith.
Verse 9- our works can not save us so we have nothing to boast about.
Verse 10- Our Salvation was planned ahead of time and given by God to us through the sacrifice of Jesus so that only through him can we do good works.

Application:
Salvation is a gift from God. He gives it to whomever he pleases. Our works can not save us. We can only do good works through the power of the blood of Christ.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the awesome gift of Salvation that you have given us. You are a great God and Father. Thank you for adopting me and calling me your own.
In Christ's name,
Amen

Remembering Christ's Benefits

There has been a method behind my madness in sending out the prompts that I have sent to the Take Up Your Cross group for the last month or so. They all have a common theme. I want to thank you for exploring with me the blessings of the Lord. I have wanted to study them for awhile. If you will notice, the Beatitudes are not the only Bible verses saying we are blessed if we do this or that.

Psalm 103:2 says we should not forget all the benefits of the Lord. Psalm 103 has a list of benefits in the Lord also if you read it carefully.

The Lord:

-Forgives all our iniquities.

-Heals all our diseases.

-Redeems our life from destruction.

-Crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies

-Satisfies our mouth with good things

-Renews our youth like an Eagle’s

-Executes righteousness and judgement for all who are oppressed

-Made his ways known to Moses and his acts to the children of Israel

-Merciful and gracious toward us, plentious in mercy

-Slow to anger

-He doesn't always hold on to his anger and continue to chide with us (forgiving)

-He doesn't deal with us according to our sins or punished us as we deserve

-Removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west

-Pities those that fear him as a father does his children

-Remembers our frame and that we are dust.

-Has prepared his throne in heaven and is ruler over us all

Psalm 103

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.

God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings.

Ephesians 1:3-6
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

This is the blessings according to the old covenant with the children of Israel.

(Deuteronomy 281-14)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

A blessing from God is a true blessing. It doesn't make extra burdens. It makes you better, not bitter.

Scripture writing - Colossians 3:12-13;23-24

Scripture:
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Observations:
Verse 12- Be merciful, kind, humble, meek, and long-suffering.
Verse 13- Forgive one another. Don't make rash judgements.
Verse 23- Do everything you do passionately for God, not for men.
Verse 24- you will be rewarded by Christ because you serve him. Christ writes your spiritual paychecks.

Application:
As much as lies within you, be at peace with all men.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me to always seek peace and pursue it.
In Jesus’s name,
Amen

Have you ever experienced something that just could not be logically explained?

Oh yeah! More than once. I have seen demons, ghosts, and angels. I have dreamed prophetic warning dreams. I have had premonitions. Some “Christians” would not believe some of the stories I could tell.

I had my exploratory surgery today and am fine. The colonoscopy was negative. The other scope revealed that I have a hiatal hernia which has resulted in an infection of the stomach lining (gastritis) and an infection of the lining of my esophagus (esophagitis). I have to make some habit changes but will be fine.

What do these verses say about the differences between the just and the wicked? Which category do you and the people you know fall in?

Answer:
I know people from both categories. When the wicked die, people are not sad to see them go, sometimes their own families. I have known very just people who’s funeral’s we're larger than the building could accommodate because of all the good the person had done. Violence is not of God. God is a God of peace.

Scripture writing - Acts 28:6-10

Scripture:
6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
7 In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

Observations:
Verse 6- since no harm came to Paul after the snake bit him, the people off the island thought he was a god.
Verse 7- A chief man of the island lodged them there 3 days out of courtesy.
Verse 8- The man’s father became ill. So Paul prayed for him soit was healed.
Verse 9- when other people heard of this, others came to be healed.
Verse 10- They were able to leave the island with everything that was necessary to finish their journey.

Application:
One good deed deserves another.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for providing everything we need. Thank you for your healing power. You are an awesome God.
In christ's name,
Amen

Discuss something you learned from your grandparents. Did they give you advice? If so what was it about?

I only knew my grandmothers. My grandfathers passed away before I was born. My Dad's mother taught me to be a strong independent woman. My mom's mom taught me the value of taking care of family and hard work.
