Let's talk about anger. Is it a sin to be angry? How do we handle anger when it rises within us? How do we handle it when others are angry?

I don't believe it is a sin to be angry. I believe it is a sin to hold onto it. Sometimes it is best to take a deep breath or 2 and think before we react. Prayer is always a good option. A soft answer turns away wrath but grevious words stir up anger. When others are angry, let them vent if it is safe to do so. Speak calmly. Don't threaten or react in anger. The person who is angry is not in control. They do good to control themself little alone anything else.

It's Music time: Pick a song from the 40's, feel free to share a YouTube link. Why do you think the song you chose was popular then? Could you see yourself dancing to the song?
Have fun there's a lot of great artists from that decade.

White Christmas - Bing Crosby

This is probably the song in that era that I am familiar with because my parents liked it.

Is it a sin for a Christian to worry?

I think this is an area we all struggle with from time to time. I know I do. Worry can definitely be a sign of lack of faith. A lack of faith is sin. However, God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. Thankfully, we have a God who understands. We can cast all our worries, cares, and anxieties upon him because he cares for us. We are not to be anxious or afraid. However, when we do feel those feelings, we are to stand on God's promises and trust him to do what he promised. Our life is in his hands. Paul said for him to live was Christ and to die was gain. What do we truly have to worry about or fear? Unfortunately, it is within our human nature to do so at times.

Psalms 20:6-7
6 Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

What does this mean to you?

Trusting in God is the only sure thing.

February 23rd
prompt
Write about any scripture pertaining to holiness.

1 Peter 1:16 - Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

This is the first verse that comes to mind followed by

Hebrews 12:10-14
10For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
11Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
12Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
13And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
14Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

This second verse was right in the back of my mind somewhere. I had to look it up. However, it tells us God does not punish us just for his benefit but for ours. That's something to think about.

prompt
What scripture comes to mind when you feel misunderstood?

Could being misunderstood be a form of suffering persecution? Maybe sometimes. Jesus was misunderstood. So was Joseph and a few other Biblical characters. The main biblical story that comes to my mind is when Hannah was asking God for a son and the priest thought she was drunk.

February 25th
prompt
How should a Christian handle disappointment?

A Christian should handle disappointment by trusting in God's sovereignty and knowing that all things work together for good. We can also rest in the fact that God has a good plan for us and always has our best interest at heart.

Prompt
What can we learn from the story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17?

There are many lessons we can learn from this. God will fight our battles. God always wins. When we have the Holy Spirit, anything is possible. When the Holy Spirit is not with us, we are doubtful and full of fear. We can remember past victories in the Lord to help us have faith in the present. I am sure there are more but that's all I can think of at the moment.

(Has anyone seen my brain? lol I seem to have misplaced it.)

On a more serious note: I think I am having an autoimmune flare up. I do apologize. I could have sworn that I sent out a blog prompt last night for today. I have no idea what happened to it, but I obviously didn't get it sent. Wow! I feel like I am so out of it. Brain fog is no fun!

Prompt
Do you believe there is only one way to get into heaven or many ways?

Jesus is the only way. Anything that comes from another way, is a thief and a liar. Jesus himself said so.

March 2nd
prompt
Write about your thoughts on Biblical blessings and curses.

You are either living a blessed life in Christ or you are already cursed and condemned according to John 3:16 among other scriptures.

Today is the day a very good friend of mine passed away due to COVID. This one really hurts. If I ever got caloused and careless about death, I think there would be something wrong with me. However, ever since September of 2017, I have experienced a lot of it, especially in the last couple years during the pandemic. It is so heartbreaking. Yet I cling to the hope I have found in Christ. I hope that I will see loved ones again in Heaven. I hope because someday all my teas will be wiped away. All pain and suffering will end for those of us whose faith is in Christ. We just have to endure until our life ends. I hope because my loved ones in Christ don't have to hurt or sorrow or cry any more. It is so much more difficult when someone dies without Christ.

March 3rd
prompt
How can a Christian handle fear?

A Christian should handle fear by running straight to Christ. Fear shows a lack of faith when we cling to our fears. God does not want us to be afraid but to trust in him.

I feel so drained right now. I am hoping to catch up on blog prompts this weekend. I found out a good friend of mine passed away today. I am having an autoimmune flare up. I am feeling stressed. It is the 1st part of the month and bill paying time. I have a colonoscopy Friday. My neighbors are blaring music and I have a headache. I have got to go on clear liquids starting tomorrow.

Sorry I needed to vent a little. I just have a lot on my plate right now. I don't feel like I can handle my business with Tupperware and Pampered chef until next week, so I have let myself off the hook for now. I needed a breather, so I am taking one. I don't like to be like that about my businesses, but I feel like I bit off more than I could chew this week.

Pray for me. I need it.

prompt (Happy Valentine's Day!)
Matthew 23:37
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not.

This scripture is a cry from Christ's heart after scolding the scribes and Pharisees for being hypocrites. What can we learn about our relationship as children of God from this verse?

I think we can see Christ's love for us and his desire to save us. He desires us to listen to him and obey the will of the Father so that it will be well for us.

2/15
prompt
This song has been on my mind all day. Here is a link to the lyrics and the story behind the song, https://popularhymns.com/wherever-he-leads-ill-go. Write about the song, "Wherever He Leads I'll go".

This should be every true Christan's commitment to God. We need to have a heart of complete surrender to Christ.

2/16
prompt
There are several ways to incorporate God's word into your daily routine. What are your favorite ways to do this?

I read his Word. Sometimes, I like to listen to Bible Gateway. I am constantly thinking about scriptures and what they mean. I use them in prayer and in praising God.

2/17
prompt
Write about any scripture about strength.

2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I find comfort in this. My weakness will not sabotage Christ's strength. His strength is instead made perfect in my weakness!

2/18
prompt
Is there a specific thing you like to do to get into a good mindset for prayer?

It depends on the circumstances. Sometimes I just start praying whenever and wherever. At other time, I like to get myself into a worshipful mindset and will listen to worship music while praying. If all else fails, and I know I am not in a good mood or have a bad attitude, I try to shift my focus by praising and thanking God. This usually improves my mood.

2/19
prompt
Write about your favorite book of the Bible.

I love the gospel of John. It really reflects the deep love and relationship between the disciples and Christ.

2/21
prompt
Psalms 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

Other verses in the Bible state that what comes out of our mouth comes from our heart. Consider today what is coming from your mouth and what it reveals about the condition of your heart with God. Write about this.

Sometimes, I ask difficult questions even for myself to answer. lol However, it is good to stretch yourself outside your comfort zone sometimes. We must consider our ways and what is in our heart. Everything we do flows from our heart. We need to check ourselves at the front door. This is why I ask these tough questions. Even if we don't write out our answer, it is good to think about things.

What comes from my heart reflected by my speech? I know what I desire to reflect. I fall short of God's glory every day. I do control my tongue much better than I once did. What is in the mind shouldn't always come out the mouth. lol If something is on the mind that shouldn't come out the mouth, I try to remember to ask myself, "Why?". What is in my heart to make me think and feel the way I do. This is a good prayer prompt. I have asked God to remove those ugly weeds of sin from the root. Sometimes he allows me to experience things to reveal my heart to me so that I can change my thoughts and behavior with his help.

Prompt
Do you believe Judas Iscariot went to heaven or hell? Why do you believe this?

I believe he went to Hell. Of course, God is the only one that can rightly make that call. Some people think when you commit suicide, you go straight to Hell. Rather this is true or not, that is not why I think he went to Hell. I think that because Jesus had said it would have been better for the person that betrayed him to have never been born, indicating his ultimate fate.
Matthew 26:23-24

February 8th
prompt
Psalms 52:8
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

What does it mean to be like a green olive tree?

I think this refers to a state of prosperity and security. You can be like a green olive tree in the house of God when you trust in him. God will plant you in a good place and nourish you and cause you to produce good fruit.

February 9th
prompt
Psalm 91:1
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

In your opinion, what is the secret place of the most High?

It is a cliche' of sorts referring to being hidden in a safe place with God. An example of this would be when God placed Moses in the cleft of the rock to pass by him and show him his glory. It is about living in security with God.

February 10th
prompt
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

What does this verse mean to you?

When we study the word of God, We are able to know what truth is and what is not. When we know the truth and act upon it, we will not be ashamed.

February 11th
prompt
John 15:12-14
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

How are you a friend to Jesus?

I am a friend to Jesus when I spend time with him, do things because I love him, show him respect, obey God's commands, and act in a way that shows his love to others.

February 12th
prompt
Psalms 1:3
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Do you think this can be compared to the verse in Psalms 52:8 that we looked at earlier this week? What are your thoughts about this?

I think the green olive tree in Psalms 52 and this tree in Psalms 1 are comparable. They both picture being established and firmly planted in a good place, being well watered and nourished, and prosperous.

Do you have a daily prayer or weekly prayer routine? Do you use a prayer journal, write letters to God, have a set time to pray, or just pray randomly?

I have a routine for the sake of self-discipline, but I also pray randomly. I try to pray immediately when someone asks for prayer. I also keep a prayer journal. I pray all the time about anything and everything. I have a quiet time every day, usually in the mornings as of late where I read at least one chapter of the Bible with study notes and pray. My desire is to keep God as the first priority in my life.

What are you praying for your close family and friends?

My heart is heavy here. I have a good friend in the hospital right now who got Covid that turned into Covid pneumonia. She is on a ventilator, and I don't know if she will make it or not. I am praying hard that she does.

I know people who I am praying for their Salvation.

With everyone, I pray for health, healing, safety, needs to be met, and for their relationship with God. I pray about anything and everything. I keep a list of Prayer requests.

What do I need to pray for regarding my church, its leaders, and its members?

I have noticed the problem of pride among some of the members at my church. There are some private things that need prayer as well. I would like to see more genuine love and care between the members. I am not saying the members are stuck up but sometimes the way they act or carry themselves makes them appear to be. I sometimes wonder if the Holy Spirit visited the church and made his presence strongly known if any of them would know how to act. I think at least a couple would. I don't agree with everything, but I believe God has me there right now for a reason. In the meantime, I will pray for them, and I hope they are praying for me if they perceive I am wrong on something. Not one single one of us is perfect.

Considering the observations that we made in our previous entry about the spiritual state of our Country, what should we commit to pray for this year? What actions can we take as individuals to try to make a difference?

I believe we need to pray for our President regardless of who it is and if we like him or not. I believe we need to pray for our nations religious and political leaders both. We need to pray for the law makers, city, county and state officials. Pray for our military. Pray for our justice system. Pray for the lawyers and everyone fighting for a righteous cause. Pray for a great spiritual awakening. Pray for forgiveness and intercede for others. Pray about everything you see wrong and then some. Pray. Pray. Pray. Pray some more.

What can I do to try to help the situation? I can raise the awareness of others. I can pray. I can tell others about Jesus. I can live as an example for others. I can do good to him who it is due when it is in the power of my hand to do it. I be a light for others to see in the darkness.

Rather the situation seems hopeless or inevitable, we can always stand up for what is right. Who knows? Maybe God will have mercy on this generation and put the inevitable (his judgement) off until a future generation. That's probably why we have been allowed to stick around so long as we have. If we were God, how many of us would have already wiped everyone off the earth? God is very merciful. We must all turn to seek him today.
