Welcome to my blog: I intend to share heartfelt writing about anything that comes to mind. |
PROMPT November 11th A reminder I could say to myself before I’m tempted to respond to anger with anger, to fear with fear, to negativity with negativity is... Oh? I think this prompt is for me. 😊 lol 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. James 1:19-20 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Phillipians 4:6-8 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Psalms 42:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: These are some of my go to Scripture verses during challenging times. We have so much good advice and so many precious promises throughout the Bible. God is a good God. There is no other God like him. I praise his name! |
PROMPT November 11th You are desperate to use the bathroom. But, you share this with several others. It's down the hall (waaaay down the hall), and it's cold despite the heat being set to the 'normal' temperature. Being an older person, your legs and ability to hold it ain't what it used to be. How do you handle this dire situation? Śounds like it is time to invest in some adult disposable underwear and wipes perhaps. If you have your disposable underwear on then you make it the best you can. If you have an accident, you are covered until you can get into the bathroom to clean up and change. Either that, in vest in a bedside potty or bucket. You had better have something in case of emergency at your disposal. I don't recommend the disposable bed pads. They barely hold my little dog’s pee for the record and that could get messy. Life! You’d better be ready to improvise at any given moment. 🤪 |
PROMPT November 10th Your neighbor’s hay crop is ready to harvest. Everyone in their family is sick and their Combine is broken. How do you respond to this situation? Well, seeing I am no farmer, I don't know exactly how I could help them. I know I can always pray for them if all else fails. I can maybe see if I can find another neighbor or friend to help. I could also try to help them recover from their illness as soon as possible so they can help themselves. Other than that, I don't know what I could do. Sometimes just being there for someone to talk to is all you can do but sometimes you don't know how much just that helps. |
PROMPT November 9th You are having a very realistic dream. In this dream, you are approaching a castle. What unusual reason do you have to be at this castle? What do you say to the two guards standing outside it to gain entrance? I am currently taking an antibiotic, and I would say it is making me have some actual dreams like that. However, none of them have been about a castle. I had one about a mansion that my parents suddenly owned and actually ended up being a bit disturbing because of some of my past. So I guess I will have to make a castle dream up, and I am not in the most creative mood today. I must save the princess from an evil sorceress. I will tell the guards I have been summoned to work in the kitchen. It works although I am escorted straight to the kitchen. Hopefully, I will be able to find the princess before the sorceress. Oh no! The sorceress is about to get to her first. I wake up from the dream before any harm can come to the princess. Problem solved! |
PROMPT November 8th What would you have to start doing now so that in 10 years you feel like you just had the best decade of your life? I am doing that right now. I am examining myself and I am trying to correct my bad habits and form better ones. I am trying to take responsibility for how my body got in it's current condition. I am trying to take better care of myself. I am making sure I have an awesome relationship with God and doing what I can to put God and his righteousness first in my life. I am writing a novel, stepping out of my comfort zone, and I am trying things I have never tried before. I am living my life the best I can each and every day. I am fighting for my health and well being. I am helping others as much as I can. I am still being productive. I am learning new things. I am making mistakes. I am being me. |
PROMPT November 6th You work alone from home, logged on to your work PC. One day you log on, and start your routine. You look at the clock on your desktop and eight hours have passed, but you have no memory of getting any tasks done. Tell us what might have happened to you during those eight hours. What happened? If I have no recollection, how do I know what happened? Just saying. It had to be an alien abduction with a time-traveling experience because the computer says I did my job. I do feel unusually tired though and a bit hungover. Or was that an out-body experience? I am not sure. It all seems like a dream. It started out like any other day. Then I saw a flash of light and blacked out. I seemed to have been in and out of consciousness. There were these strange-looking figures standing over me with some kind of tools and speaking some kind of language I didn't understand. The next thing I knew is that I was back in front of my computer and my workday was over. I don't know if I want to continue working for this company. What if it happens again? |
PROMPT November 7th Today's prompt is taken from a book I own. "Great Quotes From Great Leaders", published by Motorola, my employer. This one is from Norman Vincent Peale. "The trouble with most of us, is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism." Do you feel this is a valid statement? Tell us why you feel the way you do. For a lot of people this may be true. No one enjoys being criticized. Would you rather be taught by correction or with rewards? It is the same difference. Unfortunately, sometimes the best way for us to learn and correct our behavior is through criticism and correction. It's great to get praised and rewarded for the good things we do. That's awesome, but we honestly need balance between the two. If all I receive is praise, how do I know when something is wrong and needs to be corrected? The first step to correcting a problem is acknowledging there is one. You can not acknowledge that something exists if you do not have an awareness of it. This is why it is important for us to let each other know when we believe people are in the wrong. At the same time, we must remember that we mess up too. We must point out other people's wrongs with a humble attitude knowing we are no better than the other person. We must approach them with love and empathy. In some ways I am talking to Christians, but this concept really applies to everyone. We must be careful how we dish out criticism to others. There is a thin line between constructive criticism and just plain criticism. |
PROMPT November 5th You arrive at work today with five donuts and five coffees for the people who are scheduled to be there. But you have a problem. Counting you, six people are there, and all of you love coffee and donuts! How do you and your friends resolve this? Doesn't this place have a coffee maker in it with all these coffee loving people? I can half a donut. Of course if there was an empty cup somewhere, if everyone gave a little coffee, problem solved. As long as I can get some source of caffeine, I will be ok. So that's an option too. I don't have to have coffee. |
Prompt Proverbs 26:18-19 18 As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, 19 So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport? What do these verses mean to you? I think this has to do with pulling harmful pranks on others. These verse are saying that pulling pranks can be just as dangerous as a man whose temper is out of control to the point of violence. This is definately something to consider. |
PROMPT November 4th We've all heard of people who mysteriously 'go missing'. Tonight, write about a person who 'goes missing'. Someone that you read about in the newspaper or online, but nobody seems to know them, or remember them. I don't do much reading of the newspaper, and I haven't read any missing person's reports lately. As far as no one remembering, the one that I remember rather well is one everyone else in this area remembers too. I try not to dwell on negative events. there are many that could be remembered. Unfortunately, evil is alive and well in this world no matter where you are. All to often, people go missing due to sex trafficking or other crimes. There are people who often feel alone and go unnoticed. A lot of homeless people tend to feel that way. I feel for them. I wish I could help more. However, to a point, we have to have wisdom to know when these people keep themselves in that position, rather it be laziness or an addiction to something like drugs or alcohol. It is difficult to truly help people who won't help themselves. I have never known a missing person personally. I have known someone in a round about way that was murdered. Either situation is a difficult one. I think it would be harder not knowing what happened to your loved one though. I have personally known a few homeless people. This is why I know it is difficult to help someone who won't help themselves. It is a very sad situation. If I could, I would help everyone, but I am not in a position to do so. I help the ones I can and pray for the rest. Well, actually come to think of it, there was the time when I was 3 and hid in the car from my mom. She had the neighbors and everyone looking for me. When I was found she loved on me then gave me a spanking I will never forget while telling me to never do that again. Lol Well, I never did that again. |
