Here are words I like to write
All day long 'til it is night.
Words go up and words go down
When complete approve the sound.

If you complete my little rhyme,
Things will come your way in time.

I received a couple of wonderful emails in reply to reviews I wrote. Knowing my work is appreciated and, better than that, knowing I made a positive impact on someone's day is music to my ears. It is no secret I reviewed telephone transactions for almost 20 years. In my heyday I reviewed about 300 calls a month. That involved writing it and then meeting one-on-one with the representative which took huge chunks out of my day. Even a poor interaction had some sliver of positive. I think of the song the bears sing at Disneyland where you accentuate the positive. I am feeling good. Nervous about the selection for Quill reviewer of the year, not expecting to win since I was actively reviewing starting around May 2023.

I have a school Power Point presentation to prepare in the next 5 days. I will be signing off frequently to attend to that project.

Some discussion about blogging here went on yesterday. Before there was a newsfeed, I understood blogs were the communication conduit. I was anxious to have my own blog apart from the blogs I have away from this site.

I started having recurring topics like Trivia Tuesday, for example. I did not go with that. I love knowing random facts about people, places, and things. I did not follow through with that. I don't share much personal information. Anything I write is visible somewhere.

Out of the blue, I received an email from my RAOK group with a blog prompt. I have written on some, but not all prompts. I am weary of that or at least most of the prompts don't interest me.

My goal is to write here at least 3 times a week. It may be more or less. I have in mind to visit and note more blogs than in the past. No target number which I like not adding any pressure.

I received this new insignia to use:

Prompt: Write a poem or story about March.

I thought about writing a poem about March and threw caution to the wind and tried to come up with a short one with short syllables in 3 lines each. I don't know if it is a poetry type but it was very much a challenge to get it just right.

Filler Month

It’s the filler

Between cold

And hot.

It’s the wettest

Of the year

Warm not.

It’s too chilly

For swimming

Silly.

It’s cookout time

Grilling steaks

Sublime.

Because at night

Coals are red

Just right.

March has a vibe

Inviting you

To thrive.

I am watching the movie Oppenheimer since it is supposed to win many Academy Awards this evening. The only other movie I have seen that is nominated is the Barbie movie.

That is all for this edition.

Use these words in your entry today: literature, reason, coma, half, go, curl, and determine.

For whatever reason, when I am given a prompt to use specific words in my blog entry, I make up a very short story with no planning and little editing. I must have been in a coma when the training on how to write from prompts was taught. All I had to do was curl my hair, go to class, and learn the reason for the word prompt type. If I checked even half of the literature available on how to respond to word prompts, I would determine that the way I just used the prompt is also okay.

Whew! What would prevent one from writing a piece, and then selecting words that had already been included as words in the prompt? Would that be cheating or creative?

Use these random words in your entry: tactic, soak, cow, issue, tax, heavy, and strong.

Jim had to admit that he had issues that he was not going to be able to resolve in months much less before Federal tax day, the 15th of April. That gave him thirty-eight days to sell Bertha, his son's cow, a long shot because she was a special needs bovine. She was no longer strong enough to stand on her arthritic legs. He remembers the day he took Bobby to farmer Mac's place to buy Bertha. Bobby named her after his grandma.

If that was not a big issue, the repair of the soaked barn was going to be expensive and with such extensive damage, it may be condemned and torn down. The rainstorms were so heavy the roof was bowed so low it looked like it would fall in at any moment.

After a long day of chores and mulling over what he should do, Jim decided on the best tactic. He would have Bobby come get Bertha and sell her. Bobby could sell anything, a top salesman for Jones' Deere Farm Equipment in the next town. Jim was sure his son could take that burden off of his shoulders.

For the soaked barn, he would call his college buddy, Johnny Decker, who was the best carpenter in the county. Johnny would be honest and recommend the next course of action taking the decision-making responsibility off of Jim's mind.

He remembered his wife's former manager telling her to delegate, delegate, delegate! He chose tax day arbitrarily. As it turns out, all was resolved on April 10th, his birthday.

I wrote yesterday's entry after the deadline so it shows posted today. It is before midnight so I am using this as a note to myself that the Newsfeed can be a source of good stuff. Many, like me, pulled up a site where we could answer questions and it would tell us what is our style. I am an innovator. I think up cool stuff and then work to execute the ideas. That is hard to do consistently.

My point is many took the quiz and shared their results. It was like being together in a group, sharing and getting to know each other better.

It was fun...just like the Question of the Day can be. It can be too thought-provoking for my half-asleep brain in the morning. I don't go there every day as I used to.
,
Honestly, you have to pick and choose. I have been asked to do the Wonderland and Game of Thrones activities along with others. My thing is doing reviews. Being distracted with activities in February had me doing a few reviews. I like to do them because I feel like I make a positive difference with the writers I review. I get feedback as well. As a Quill finalist I want to set a good example.

Prompt: “One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.”
Malala Yousafzai (1997- ), is a Pakistani female education activist, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

There is no question Malala speaks the truth. Look at what she did with her actions especially being so young. I would bet there is a leader in improved changes in the world for other issues. As grandiose as changing the world, the everyday mother and father, for example change the world of their children by teaching them life lessons. In turn, one of them may become one of those who changes the world.

I have a couple of teachers who changed my world. Their enthusiasm for learning, and taking a direct interest in what I was producing in their class had me flying high. I am a person who craves praise.

Prompt: "A weed is but an unloved flower." Write about this in your Blog Entry today.

I love dandelions. I used to make chains with them. They are weeds but are nice bright yellow flowers. Wildflowers are weeds. A blanket of wildflowers is one of the prettiest sites.

There are annoyingly ugly green weeds. I had some take over my backyard once. They had sharp parts and were attached firmly to the ground. I pulled every one of those by hand. It took me about a week. They grew back after the next rainstorm. I hated those weeds.

Prompt 2/28/24

Prompt: “Even though February was the shortest month of the year, sometimes it seemed like the longest.”

I am not of the opinion that February ever seeming like the longest month. January, for me, drags on as a let down from Holiday filled December. I consider February to be short and, if anything, shorter than the short month.

My grandmother's birthday was on February 29th. I don't remember when or if we celebrated. I assume we did. A long while back, I read an article about parents who have children on the 29th. They have been known to have the legal documentation changed to the 28th or hold up the delivery until after midnight with whatever it is that can do that.

I am trying really hard to remember a time when February seemed to last the longest and can not think of a single time. It was a good prompt.
