This stuffed Beanie Baby dog came tagged "tracker" which fits my search for knowledge.

Here are words I like to write
All day long 'til it is night.
Words go up and words go down
When complete approve the sound.

If you complete my little rhyme,
Things will come your way in time.

I am tired of writing. I have a couple of medical issues. Cataracts and a bum knee. The vision thing is a real problem when writing. I am waiting to see when surgery can be set up.

Yesterday was a disappointment because plans got canceled but at least my daughter is okay.

Blog City - Every Blogger's Paradise.

Prompt: A blue feather arrives in an envelope in your mailbox. No note or explanation. Who sent the blue feather and why?

Valentine's Day is just another day for me. I remember that one miraculous Valentine's Day when I first moved to Arizona. I was used to having my mailbox right up on the house. Here, they were next to the curb. It was in fashion to make unique mailboxes maybe in the shape of your house, or it could be painted like a barn. Ours was huge because we received all of our small business mail there with periodicals and big business manila envelopes. My daughter paints beautifully. She drew a freehand picture of mountains with pine trees, a waterfall, and a very blue lake below and painstakingly painted it over a week. I knew ours was the best on the block.

Imagine my surprise when a mama and papa Eastern Bluebird couple moved in. They allowed me to watch as they waited for their three hatchlings to break out of their shells. It was early for the mama to lay eggs. Usually, this happened at the end of February or the beginning of March. I was fascinated to see how carefully they built their nest.

That Valentine's Day morning, the mailman was late. I checked the box at least three times. Everything looked normal. When the mail finally arrived there was more mail than I expected. As I pulled out the envelopes and magazines, a blue feather fell to the ground. It was from my late brother. We had a pact going before he passed away that when he visited me he would leave a blue feather as a symbol of our sibling bond. Blue is a spiritual color that calms the soul.

I picked up the feather and placed it in my pocket. I would put it with the others. I turned to leave when I heard chirping. It was a magical Valentine's Day.

Again I am up when I should be asleep. I actually started dozing off at 9 pm. Then my grandson came in to say his mom was going to the doctor. I went to check on her. She will call the doctor in the morning. That poor girl has the worst luck with her health. She was going to take me to an eye appointment then over to my best friend's house but now that is in doubt. That is why I don't like to plan things in advance. Things work out much better for me if they are on the spur of the moment. All of this has been scheduled for a week. I will be disappointed if I don't get to visit with my best friend. I am giving her a brand new laptop for her birthday. I have it to take to her along with the SIM card to set her phone number up on my previous iPhone which I am giving her because her very old cell phone is not working and she can't afford to buy a new one. She has never had a laptop. She has no clue how to use one. My daughter was going to set up the laptop and show her how to use it tomorrow. I have been making dates to go there for the last two months at least and did get over there once only to find out the card I purchased was the wrong one.

We shall see how things go.

My knee is killing me. I have some Zostrix on it. Hope it relieves the pain soon. When I am in pain, I don't do anything as well as I could. I was following the guidelines to find out what badges a person needed. I followed the directions from a recent post in the newsfeed. Of course, step 1 did not bring the results the info said it would. If I did not like doing what I do here, I would really want to just quit. I don't need the additional stress in my life.

I did not get anything done that I planned to. I did nap on and off. I watched the football games to decide who goes to the Super Bowl. We had simple biscuits and gravy for dinner. I like it when we have breakfast for dinner sometimes. Tomorrow is another day.

Today's blog entry I wrote at another social media site.

I have left Open Diary which is a huge change for me. I started writing there in December 1999. It has been steady writing except for the site closing in 2014 and me not knowing it had reopened until 2020. My main site now is writing.com and the reason for that is huge: Writing is the main focus. Reading and reviewing other people’s work is rewarding for me.

I am proud to have won a contest there a couple of days ago. There was a day of doing as many story reviews. I did five which I thought was a very small number. From the congratulations memo I was sent, they were looking for quality, not quantity. That is one of my major mantras. If you are going to do something, do it in excellence. I won some gift points I can use to buy some special decorations for my portfolio plus a merit badge which is a sought after item. Since it is a winter event, the merit badge has a snow princess on it. Quite cute.

I do have a blog there with a pretty good record of daily entries. My diaries/blogs are made up more with interesting stuff rather than moaning and groaning about my life or recording daily activities which I believe was the original intent of a diary. I prefer to put in stuff that interests me. At Open Diary I liked to do research on things I was interested in. I also kept a record of the cool things/phrases people wrote. I will try to be more faithful here. I have more than one and less than ten friends here. Even if there was only one besides me, I would continue to write here. Hopefully it will be better stuff than in my previous entries.

To you who follow me, thank you for reading. I read your entries and try to note them, time permitting.

My youngest grandson was honored by having his avatar and character name inserted into an online game update today. He followed the game creator into the game. He has big dreams of being an influencer online. He is doing well at 11 years old.

I was having spaghetti tonight from the Olive Garden Restaurant. I had eaten about half of it when I was called away to another room. That sneaky dog of ours smelled it and while I was out of the room joined the clean plate club eating all of my spaghetti with meat sauce. The bread stick is also gone.

I was so excited to win with TJ the SuperPower Reviewers raid yesterday. Reviewing is my favorite thing to do. Reviewing is the category of my Quills nomination. It is now recorded in my Treasure Chest folder.

Finally, a huge thank you to Joy for the Awardicon on my blog. I was so surprised and happy to receive it. Thank you Joy.

Very early in the morning
Blog City - Every Blogger's Paradise.

Prompt: Write about fog and mist in your Blog entry today.

In northern California, in the East Bay, which is the stretch of land east of San Francisco, there runs two rivers, the Sacramento and San Joaquin. The San Joaquin runs along Antioch. I lived in Antioch for five years.

The area is called the Delta. Once miles of marshes, there is water that branches off into sloughs. I lived on a slough in the town near Antioch called Bethel Island, a small island of about 3000 acres. The island was mostly populated by retired people. It was originally a place people went to fish and hunt. Most of the homes were built as cottages on the levees. The soil there is rich and ripe for farming. They grew grains for cattle feed.

If you wanted to go to Stockton, California and on to Sacramento, you could get there by what the locals called the river road. The road ran perpendicular to a wide slough. It was a winding road, barely wide enough for the two lane traffic. There would be tule fog so thick you could not see the end of the hood of your car. However, for those of us who ran up the river road frequently, that did not matter. We would use the wide center line that reflected bright yellow as a guide.

I preferred to drive the road when there was a mist which was so thick you needed to use your window wiper. It was easier to see. Better yet was to wait and leave later in the morning when the fog and/or mist would lift.
