In my view, the primary focus should be on encouraging the writers to write. I do not review items I don't enjoy anymore because I see it as a waste of my time. So, if you get a review from me, I enjoyed reading your work. The amazing thing about this whole process is that reading an inspiring review usually leads to me reading more of a reviewer's work also. So, it's a win-win.

something I do not like. I do not enjoy writing hyper-critical reviews. I do NOT believe that "honesty" is a synonym for "mean." If I see someone being "mean" here on the public reviewing page, in group behaviors, or just acting as a bully I will not send them my reviews. The only exception to that would be judging a site contest - there all items get honest (and hopefully diplomatic) reviews of the work from me with no exceptions.

This poem really captures the resignation of acceptance of the inevitable loss. You have to take care of one whose devotion is so steadfast and true. No doubt about that.

The hope for the future rings out. This was a hard thing because my own 14 plus year old pup passed recently. I wanted to let you know I connected with this very strongly.

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

This poem presents a unique point of view - that of a breeze or bit of wind. Wind controls so much and steers and guides so much that we take for granted most of the time.

It must look very small below from that vantage point. Very small, indeed.

But I like the generous view that seeks to avert danger.

It is hard to pick a favorite because it all moves along so well with your rhyme scheme and word choices.

This is my favorite part:

"It soared with charm and subtle grace
above the sea below.
My breeze assumed a steady pace
and that seemed apropos."

It flows so seamlessly throughout, though. I felt transported to a place by the sea. I haven't been there in years, but your poem took me to a place of calm that I love.

What does thing think about while reading this?

I notice that you use foreshadowing very effectively. I got a feeling from the start, because of the setting, but did not know where you were going.

This took me along with joy for Angela's achievement, but joy mixed with so much sadness and regret looking back. It's as if events moved irrevocably, all timed to result in such a tragedy.

I thought you did a good job of presenting the concept of forgiveness and how it is hard fought in situations like these. Some never get there. Can it be a catharsis as it was here for Selena? I'm not sure and the father's reaction and the fact that he is stuck in a time warp, argues for an answer in the affirmative.

You are a very talented storyteller as you hooked me in from the start and your story made me stop, think and count my blessings in a time when it's more easy to give in to feeling sad.

This was the first time I understood what took him. For some reason, I thought it was a heart issue. I remember seeing footage of him riding his bike the day before where he looked so happy and carefree. That made me think he biked into heaven in his mind.

This is a lovely tribute to two admirable and modern ladies. I am glad you decided to focus on them.

Princess Diana will do what she can to make things right for her sons from her divine power. I am still waiting for her to work her magic a little more in the other areas best left unexplored.

I read that Kate did a photography book about Covid 19 in England. It's called, "Hold Still." She seems like she has genuine feeling and compassion for people when they are suffering.

I think she and Diana both have felt genuine things for people. May both of Diana's children find genuine love and happiness one day.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

I thought about the royal family. I think Meghan is jealous of Kate. You are right about that. Kate will be Queen probably. The highest Meghan can go is Duchess.

She was 36 when she married Harry, not 19 like Diana. She wants to be beloved like Diana was. But Diana had some good qualities that shined through all her troubles.

To me, Meghan is all about the money and power. When she realized that Harry is a low level royal and highest she could go is probably Duchess, she got bored.

I had never thought about how Diana didn't have any support. You make a great point. Meghan has had Harry's support all the time. Charles could never be bothered. Meghan fights with her own father and family other than her mother. She was divorced.

But the women Harry liked in England before Meghan couldn't handle the thing with the press. I think Harry would have married one of them if they would have had him. Meghan can look okay with a lot of makeup, but isn't a natural beauty like Kate or Diana.

I think watching the Crown may have messed with Harry's mind some. I know that it got me when I watched it, I was angry on Diana's behalf all over again. I don't think Harry has all his oars in the water.

Great analysis of something that is of very current interest - well done!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

I thought about what makes our own experiences unique. It is definitely the twists and turns that are different from others.

The rhymes are at times somewhat unexpected (not predictable) and that's a good thing - keeps with the mood of originality and the ultimate conclusion.

Your poem takes an interesting twist in the loving confession of the "lie" that ended up being the "truth" in a lot of ways.

I thought about how smart Daisey is in this, with positioning herself to control the fish. Plus she seems, at all times, to be cheering for you and genuinely happy when you are happy.

Who wouldn't love Daisey? She's so smart and endearing in this engaging memoir. It made me smile and remember our Boo. We are the lucky ones to have known such amazing and unconditional love
and devotion.

Just one suggestion - you might want to double space and break this into shorter paragraphs to make it easier on your readers' eyes. Not a major thing, and even though there was a little eye strain, the story was so engaging that I read it all to end.

You set the scene very well. You don't tell us everything, but the reader knows that the speaker is isolated through necessity.

I noticed in the last paragraph, you say "thrift" away when I think you mean to say "drift."

I thought about how the restrictions of age creep up on us. In this past year, I have seen it. We all depend on others for a lot, though maybe we don't realize it. When the world closes in, it is hard.

Some fight to have it not happen, but I think that limitations eventually come to all who live long enough.

This part stays with me:

"How sad the days of such diminished light,
in some ways I feel like a helpless pawn."

While there is life, there is hope. However, this past year has taught me not to take anything for granted because it can all be gone in an instant.

*Cow*You sent me a nice review for my entry in the site contest. Here I am to read and review your entry since you were thoughtful enough to review mine.

Please know this is just one opinion in a sea of opinions. I do not think mine is always the right one and I enjoy looking at things from different angles and arguments.

I live in a small to medium U.S. city in size. I used to live in the Washington DC area for most of my life. So, I followed the news and politics when I lived up there because we had a good newspaper (then anyway) the Washington Post.

This time is very similar to the 70s, which I also lived through as a much younger calf.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

I will react to what I know. When President Obama was enacted signs went up because he also signed a huge package to redo America. Shovel ready projects was the catch phrase then. He had a majority and the popularity to get his bill passed. And so, it was.

What happened in my city? Not much. It really boomed for a while when the economy was good here from 2017-2019 (until the lockdowns, etc) but the shovel ready signs were all that happened back in 2009-10 when Obama had momentum. They were pretty and shiny for a while, then disappeared.

At least Obama did something about healthcare. It is pretty abysmal now for normal people. President Biden promised in his campaign to fix that first thing, but whatever. He's pivoted as they do.

Both sides tell lies to get things done. I have equal contempt for the Republicans and Democrats. They get elected and focus on fundraising. Then they explain the outcomes that don't live up to the promises. In the future I won't make a big effort to vote. And your media (with its flaws and all) is much more responsible than ours is now.

Take with a grain of salt everything you hear that originates from any U.S. media source. That would be my advice.

It was interesting to read your perspective on things. Will things get done and will we ever get to be shovel ready. Wait 8 years and see what the big push is then. I bet it will still be infrastructure and we will still have these crumbling roads.

The more things are promised to change the more they stay the same, I reckon.

It was interesting to read your perspective on things. Will things get done and will we ever get to be shovel ready. Wait 8 years and see what the big push is then. I bet it will still be infrastructure and we will still have these crumbling roads. It's a big country, there are always alternate routes. Somewhere there will always be a crumbling road picture. I think some they are using now originated in the 70s. *Laugh* They just drag them out every time.

The more things are promised to change the more they stay the same, I reckon.

President Biden will try his best, though I think. I like to give each one a chance before I turn on them (unlike both sides of our media)

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea*I thought about music and how it can bring people together, regardless of age.

My grandson and I both love the Beatles. Others, who we love, don't care for them. But this brought us together in enjoyment.

It's a connection that will stand the test of time, I believe.

Nothing lifts me up like music does. Especially when I find myself in a mood. Music can turn the mood around, if it is the write sort.

All your words seem to be well chosen to fit with the theme of a storm. There is chaos and confusion, but there is a direction also.

I noticed in the 4th line. I think you use "to" when you might mean to say, "too". I'm not sure about that, but I thought I would mention it just in case.

Any review you receive is just one person's opinion. You are more qualified than I am to know what you meant here, so forgive me if I am not correct in my suggestion. You make the final decision about your writing on this site and elsewhere. That is a good thing to keep in mind.

I think you use your words very effectively in conjunction with your title. It is consistent and there is definite a mood that is conveyed to the reader. The reason behind this is a question mark that you leave for me (as the reader) to ponder.

I like that you use few words, but convey a theme and a definite plea for guidance of some sort.

That's all consistent with a storm of emotion.

*Cool**Idea* I thought about Spring and it is a very welcome time, especially this year. You capture a lot of the magic of the season and incorporate the words very well.

What does HOOves applaud and moo about while reading your item?

*Thumbsup*This was my favorite part because it flows so well:

*Cow*I saw a link for this on the Newsfeed and was intrigued by the title and came to read.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea*I think that a lot of people buy into what comforts them during hard times.

It is a dangerous combination of factors. You wrote this last summer. A lot has come to pass and the press and government make use of everything that happens to achieve their goals.

The analogy to belief in Santa is intriguing.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

*Thumbsup*In the cancel culture/equitable police universe that exists now, you can't have an opinion that isn't group think. Reading 1984 is a good way to go, too.

Maybe if they follow up in New York on what was done, the rest of the czar/governors will unravel.

I think you know of what you speak in the sense that a tragedy has become a tool in monstrous hands.

Congrats on your win. I read this with great interest.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

I thought about the year we leave behind and how you dealt with that. I thought that you were fair and not unduly harsh or critical. It is more like a realistic assessment of what didn't happen and why. This year is a rough one in the rear view mirror because there was so much "down" time. In other years, we can tell ourselves we were busy and be more convincing about it.

I found I could identify with that feeling of maybe regret and maybe not regret, but understanding.

My criteria for judging Dear Me letters is about what I find memorable and interesting. It may not agree with anyone else's judgment. I also enjoy a sense of humor or something that touches me personally.

That is to give you an idea of where I'm coming from in the whole judging realm.

No expert on keeping my own New Year's Resolutions, I didn't even try to think of any this year. So, I'm also looking to be inspired with my own plans for the year.

I admire you for all the thought and effort you put into this.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like how reasonable and realistic your goals are. Experience has taught you well. It's not like you are setting goals that you know you can't reach. You are fair and that's a good way to treat yourself. Be fair.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

You launch right into some admirable goals that will help you attain the lifestyle you aspire to. I like how you have a fallback position to that at the end in case a year doesn't present enough time.

You certainly seem to have done your research and it's clear that setting up and maintaining a romance writing website ties in nicely to your day job and experience. In other words, this is quite realistic for you and you show the reader (me, in this case) why.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

My favorite part is the name you selected, The Romance Bloke. How perfect is that. I think The Romance Guy comes off as a little arrogant and off putting. Romance Bloke says you are earnest and trying and not thinking you are all that and whatever. Well done because I think that the name is such an important element. You obviously have what it takes to put in the work and the time.

It's good, also, that you put some of the basics in place in 2020. It shows that lots of planning has gone on. Writing your own romance efforts ties in well to networking with other romance authors. Most authors are big readers.

To me, the fact that you have such a knowledgeable and talented mentor is key, too.

You seem like you are well on your way and this is a brilliant strategy to create a presence and get to where you want to be eventually.

All of it frightens me, but you will make a lot of friends and contacts and who knows where this will lead you.

Brilliant and well done, the sky is the limit.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

I thought about how the letter is written from the point of view of the self engaging the author to tell your (the self's) story. Calling the writer an "idiot" may not be a good approach, but it does get the reader's attention.

There is a definite mood of frustration expressed at the writer with regard to finishing the story.

The notion that what is needed is threats instead of encouragement is an approach that didn't occur to me before.

Self abuse as a strategy leads us to a place of dark humor, but will it get results?

Only time will tell. I enjoyed reading this as an outside observer.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

I like how you launch into a review of 2020 and your evaluation of why you fell short of goals last year. Combining script writing projects with work, seems to be an avenue that will lead to more output from you. Entering as many contests as possible is a positive goal as you are realistic about probably not doing every single one. You will try, but the goal is not rigid or set in stone.

It is good to try. You can't win if you don't enter.

Everything is all dependent on circumstances that are unknowable until they happen. I applaud your realism and clear vision when it comes to things you want to accomplish.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

You start by reviewing the challenges of 2020, while letting go of the past. I think a lot of people will identify with this. You had a lot of change upon change going into 2020 and then everything else happened.

2020 taught you to believe in your coping gifts and abilities going forward. That is a valuable tool to hold on to.

Never putting up with abuse is stressed. I think this is a cornerstone for strength and that rewarding yourself is a good thing. You seem well on track to do just that as you juggle many things in the future.

You took me on a reading journey into your imagination that blossomed during 2020. How inspiring and original!

While some of us were moaning about whatever was going on, you spent your time writing and escaping to a world of your own imagination. Using the writing and creating as a way to cope and prove that this is how one with the gift to write copes with things thrown at you by outside forces.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

Your goals are refreshingly specific and center around your love of the arts. Music is a main one that can carry someone through tough times.

Your interests are varied and seem very enjoyable. You combine photography and painting with travel goals. I know that a lot of us look forward to getting on the road again. Early fall seems like it might be a distinct possibility. I hope it is for you. Picking up where you left off with puppetry and dancing also sound like things to look forward to now.

It's always good to have goals that are positive and engaging and not dwell too much on the year behind us. It has its effects, but you don't seem like you are going to let it keep you from moving forward and that's a good thing.

I also enjoy something that touches me personally like music related goals do.
