In my view, the primary focus should be on encouraging the writers to write. I do not review items I don't enjoy anymore because I see it as a waste of my time. So, if you get a review from me, I enjoyed reading your work. The amazing thing about this whole process is that reading an inspiring review usually leads to me reading more of a reviewer's work also. So, it's a win-win.

something I do not like. I do not enjoy writing hyper-critical reviews. I do NOT believe that "honesty" is a synonym for "mean." If I see someone being "mean" here on the public reviewing page, in group behaviors, or just acting as a bully I will not send them my reviews. The only exception to that would be judging a site contest - there all items get honest (and hopefully diplomatic) reviews of the work from me with no exceptions.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea*You pack a lot into a short, 24 syllable poem.

I could identify with the feelings expressed as I am dealing with a sick family member right now, who cannot tell me what it is because she is my dog.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I applaud that line about the "wounded healer" who feels the pain of the suffering and wants to help, that is a frustrating position to be in and all you can do is do your best and wait for God and medicine to do the rest.

Waiting is hard, when someone you love is suffering that's for sure.

You have managed to convey a virtual hug in your words. Well done!

Welcome to the site!

When times get hard, there are those who choose to pile on. There are plenty of those around in life and on the internet. But then there are those who are there for us, who are our rays of sunshine through the darkest times.

This was my favorite part:

"You rejuvenate my barren heart with the shower of your faith"

It is nice to think that someone can be there like that for someone else.

I clicked on the Read and Review option on the left side of the screen and it brought me to your fine poem.

I think this is timeless, even though it was originally written a while back. Some things don't change. What was missing was their noses in those infernal cell phones. Too much communication now, mumbled the grandparent from the sidelines.

I did chuckle at this and shake my head. We don't know how good we had it back then. Wonderful work!

I think your poem expresses looking back on an experience that most of us have had at one point or another. Hopefully, it's not a recurring theme for anyone.

The heart wants what the heart wants I reckon. The head is much more sensible, but to take a chance and jump in is what we are all fed about romance. It rarely works out well in the long run.

You are not alone in this by a long shot. Time is a great healer and we see things in time that we didn't see at the moment things were happening. Live and learn I guess.

*Cool**Idea* This poem is a lovely tribute to a beloved mother. My mother was my best friend, too. I miss her a lot all the time. Your eloquent words remind me of why I miss her so much.

Any mother would be proud to have such a loving poem written in their honor.

It was all very moving, especially this part:

"You taught me not to complain,
That sunshine replaces the rain.
You're my very best friend.
I'll love you with no end."

It was as if I was meant to see this today as I have been missing my mother a lot this spring.

*Cool**Idea* It seems like a romantic place to meet. We all have to eat. I'm with you, though, on the cooking. I can do it, but don't love it that much.

The dancing at the food store sounds like fun. I think a guy who sings and dances at the food store will probably be a guy with an even temper and a good outlook on life.

I like how your speaker is open to different adventures in life and broadening horizons.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* It is hard to pack so much into so few words. Every one you use has meaning. I was reminded of the bird that sings outside my house every day. Well, not yesterday so much because it snowed. But on days that are normal spring days.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

You did a lot with the prompt - particularly with that one word, "aria". It reminded me that a longer song is right around the corner when spring actually does come and quits teasing us.

This said "spring" to me, probably partly because I want it to be here. Then when it's here I'll be moaning about my dog's and my allergies.

But it's time already. Lovely poem with each word carefully chosen. I like the notion of a Forest Symphony. I used to hear that, but they tore down the forest and are building townhouses, so now I hear hammering to go with the bird songs. Always something I guess.

Very enjoyable read - you do a lot with a few syllables!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I thought about a future where everything is done by machine. How much is taken for granted when it comes to having the power to do and think for ourselves.

Your characters are on a quest, but it is really a circular journey. We find what man has created has led to subservience to artificial intelligence, thus the quest to understand where one comes from. And so, trying can be its own reward, which relates back to the quotation prompt.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I think your story is rich in irony. We get what we want - to the point of solving everything and in the end we don't understand what we seek to comprehend, even though we do get our answers. They are not the answers (usually) that we expected. So, it is a vicious circle of sorts, an endless odyssey searching for what was there all along.

The answer to everything is usually right in front of us if only we have the inclination to try.

So, as Roosevelt said, it's all about the ones who move forward, entering the arena and learning. Sometimes, it is learning about the past. To be unchosen can be an honor in the right context.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I thought about your futuristic setting and how the protagonist, Li, lives her life vicariously through watching survival games on television. The setting for this is her wealthy and eccentric aunt's apartment.

It is a fearful thing, going out and about, in Li's world. But when motivated (as she is to watch the games) she manages to hail a cab and find her way.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I think your plot shows a lot of imagination. One wonders what would happen if Li were to experience the same things she is watching. This seems like it would be too much.

That goes well with the prompt about being in the arena. I think you did a good job with creatively exploring the fears one might have in such a futuristic and changed environment.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* This is an alarming presentation about the effect of damaging communication in Kashmir. I think it could be applied anywhere in these times. If information is truly "free' and fair then there is an ironing out - a reckoning as people consider different view points.

To me, this says the future is dependent on who controls what is conveyed in social media. I can see problems because the military/Army always has their own agenda, also.

The proposal to combat bad information with good information is logical, but who really makes the decision on that and what is behind the decisions going forward? Interesting to contemplate a society that is controlled by mindless individuals who follow the latest trends and do not think for themselves. I think it's going on everywhere and I fear for the future.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

This was not (to my way of thinking) a short story. It was an informative and well written article backed up by a logical presentation that was both factual and honest.

I was interested to read what you wrote here and I thought your arguments were sound and thoughtful, your presentation good.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* Dimcea is a futuristic leader under pressure. I found her predicament timely and relevant to recent happenings in the news. Like our contemporary world leaders, she is tasked with giving a speech to summarize the state of the SpacePlanet.

Things are not going well in Tonkim. Dimcea uses her second in command, Kallic, as a sounding board.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

In keeping with the prompt, Dimcea chooses to give a speech and not duck the issues, although Kallic urges her to refrain from doing so at this inopportune time.

I liked the sly humor of having some of those listening portrayed as disembodied heads. The history of the SpacePlanet is reviewed in the speech, but Dimcea takes on an arrogant tone. There is a lot of clever observation in this imaginative story.

She wants a force field and is determined to have it one way or another. I also liked the observation that it would probably happen later, maybe after her reign. At this point Kallic takes matters into his own hands.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, even in space.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* A young boy deals with the deaths of his parents and the fracture of his family, all in the name of moving west as pioneers. Dreaming of a better life leads to hardship and sacrifice that can scarcely be imagined. Still the pioneers dared greatly, just as the prompt quotation indicated.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like the notion that the belief in the vision endured and forgiveness followed understanding. Parents hope that their children will understand their decisions, but few live to see it. That was the case here, but it is a tribute to his parents that Samuel follows in his father's footsteps, heading for California and the Gold Rush.

*Cool**Idea* After many attempts and much support from family and friends, an unexpected win takes place. From this story, we learn that what is important is the effort and not giving up (as per the prompt).

I like how Evans is surprised by the win, while the friends are so supportive and always cheering for a positive outcome. With friends like these and a mother who never gives up, it seems inevitable that good things will happen.

*Cool**Idea* This is a first person story about someone who did not speak up when they thought they should. Leading a youth group involves setting an example and the letter is written as an apology and a promise to do better in the future.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I admire the notion of learning from one's mistakes and doing better in the future. In keeping with the prompt, the moment is to be seized in the doing of what is feared and facing the onslaught of whatever is to come. This is a noble endeavor and maybe most of us don't get it the first or even second time.

As long as we dare to speak out at some point, it is something quite fine.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* Your historically based short story is set in the time of great change - and appropriately revolves around the prompt quotation. Since Mr. Roosevelt said the words, it is fitting to write about a character who is reacting to President Roosevelt's actions.

A couple of things to mention are that you didn't include a word count as the rules require and also you edited after the deadline, both of which result in disqualification.

I read and review your item because I am interested to read what you wrote.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I like the comparison that I see between what is observed back then in 1919 and what goes on today. It's all about the change - it's just a matter of learning to roll with it. His wife has the right idea.

You never know what is around the corner, though. Fine observations about change and its impact on people who live their lives and earn their way as they do so.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* Sir Jeremy Arkwright persists in his pursuit of a local vampire. The search is initiated based on the complaints of the citizenry. Jeremy feels a duty and obligation to get to the heart of the matter as to suspicious bites on necks and the like.

Warned of the consequences by his friend, Stephen, Jeremy is determined to learn the truth. He learns it and his life is changed.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I liked that it is not a straightforward vampire hunt. There is more to it, as there usually is in life when things seem to lean in one direction. Jeremy teaches us to keep an open mind.

I guess he would not have found love if he didn't take the chance. It seems that way to me. In that sense, it relates more to the quote. One must persist in order to learn and grow. Or, in this case, become that which is hunted and (so often) misunderstood.

Fine story!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I think you made innovative and creative use of the prompt - using it as a clue note given to four suspects in a murder mystery, purportedly thought up by the billionaire victim. We see it how our characters see it - as a quote about "pride in work" rather than a quotation about being a participant in world events, rather than an observer, which is how the quote is traditionally interpreted. I like the fact that you aren't afraid to go ina different direction with this.

There are a lot of interesting twists and turns as motives and preferences are exposed and confronted. One minute one is interested there and the next minute the subject of interest and suspicion has changed.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

In the end, all are seen as suspects, but unlikely pairings and relationships are revealed in order to solve the mystery. I won't give away the ending in the review. I enjoyed the humorous observations throughout.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea*A grandson and a beloved grandfather share much in common. Both have an adventurous spirit that seems to have skipped a generation. The young boy, Jimmy, reflects back from adulthood on choosing the adventurous life over the predictable life of father.

The grandfather takes on the role of teacher - sharing wisdom about the good and bad one finds in life. His grandson carries on the teaching and the thinking into the next generation.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

*Thumbsup* I think the grandfather's quote that "Experiences make you rich" goes perfectly with the prompt quotation. It is a choice, to have an adventure and to live life in a way that involves trying new things and getting out in the world. Whether it is travel, or a new venture, the spirit and advice of grandfather serve Jimmy well.

I enjoyed reading about it and about the generosity of a young boy sharing Rosary Pea creations. Very inspirational and moving!

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I like how you present the challenge as one of not giving up, not matter how the odds may be stacked against one team and in spite of history. This basketball game presents the perfect setting for such a story.

You created your item as a folder instead of a static item. I thought I would mention that so that you don't do it in the future as it's a disqualifier for the site contest.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I liked how Randy kept trying even at the most pivotal moment when others might have given up. The players are all in the "arena" as the quote indicates, but it is good to read about a good outcome all the same.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea*There is nothing like the flowers blooming to lift one's spirits. A major task like that is bound to have ups and downs, but to see the jonquils bloom says that the world is right now, things will get better.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I thought about my daffodils and tulips. Lots of things are blooming now and the yards are ready for mowing and tending, once things dry out. The seasons are something that we can count on to lift us up in ways that other things do not.

The longer days are nice too, this time of year, for getting more things done.

*Cow* I saw that you had updated the folder this was in so I came to read.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* The title got my attention. He did not seem to really like Caroline, much less love her. However, people do strange things on the rebound.

Knowing that Elizabeth didn't like her, maybe it was to spite Elizabeth a little, too. I was glad to see they both knew, in the end, that they belonged together.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

I always wondered about who Caroline would end up with. Her brother was so nice so maybe there was a little bit of something nice in her, too. Still it's hard to think of her with Darcy and I liked how you took care of it and set things right with your fine story.

I clicked on the Read and Review option on the left side of the screen and it brought me to your fine poem.

This is a well written affirmation of an abiding faith. It is designed to help loved ones and the poet to get through tough times and challenges.

This was my favorite part:

"I pray that You lift up my sorrows
like You did Your cross- and our sins
I pray for a thousand tomorrows
or just one- for Your heart beats within"

To be lifted up and to know that the help is coming is what faith is all about. When times are toughest, we turn to what strengthens us inside.

I thought your poem was moving and inspirational.

What does hoovsie think about while perusing your item?

*Cool**Idea* I think it is natural to want to understand something unfamiliar in the context of what we already know. We look for similarities and things to link to in order to comprehend the incomprehensible. If it looks like something we know, perhaps we can understand everything better. That seems like a logical assumption.

You might want to proofread this - the last two paragraphs were missing words here and there, (like "I") - nothing major that detracted from the reading experience.

What does hooves moo and applaud about while reading your item?

*Thumbsup* I liked the descriptions very much and how I felt I was there experiencing it all with the speaker.
