In my view, the primary focus should be on encouraging the writers to write. I do not review items I don't enjoy anymore because I see it as a waste of my time. So, if you get a review from me, I enjoyed reading your work. The amazing thing about this whole process is that reading an inspiring review usually leads to me reading more of a reviewer's work also. So, it's a win-win.

I will not review...

something I do not like. I do not enjoy writing hyper-critical reviews. I do NOT believe that "honesty" is a synonym for "mean." If I see someone being "mean" here on the public reviewing page, in group behaviors, or just acting as a bully I will not send them my reviews. The only exception to that would be judging a site contest - there all items get honest (and hopefully diplomatic) reviews of the work from me with no exceptions.

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

The title drew me in. Having always been fascinated by trains and train travel, I felt that you have captured some of the magic of that imaginative and sometimes romantic mode of transport.

It reminded me of 30s and 40s movies where trains were the settings.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I particularly enjoyed those last three lines. People can be drawn to trains for different reasons, but they come together in their appreciation and in enjoying the magic that beckons.

This is why "Beckoning Shadows" is such an apt title.

It proves you don't need a lot of words to convey a lot about setting, mood and attitude.

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

I think sometimes I get busy and caught up with doing things and forget to hold on to faith and to pray for what goes on in the world.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I think there are a lot of things to pray for, both at home and in the world in general. This is a good reminder of that.

Two people I love(d) are born on the the 13th so it has been a lucky number for me. So, you never know but it's good to be mindful and careful on Friday the 13th just in case.

I liked how Princess Willow takes care of Atarath and values his opinion about things. He seems to care about her in a more genuine way than others and she knows that.

This is a relationship that has stood the test of time and that she can rely on.

I hope you continue to sleep well. That is the one thing that really helps me, but it is a gradual thing. Hopefully your prayers and continued ability to sleep will ease the stress.

I always worry here, but it's usually about the wrong thing. I am trying, more and more, to put it in God's hands when it is too much for me.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I admire and love your dedication to praying for a better world and praying for others. You are finding your way somewhat by getting more rest. All we can really do is try and to do our best to be kind and compassionate. I know you will find peace in your prayers as I find peace in mine and in talking to God.

You sent me a very nice review of my activity. You had mentioned you hadn't reviewed before, but I thought you had. I could swear that you did review it.

So then, this morning, I started to think did I review Angel Witch Bingo, which I love? So I came to check and sure enough!! It's one of my all time favorites that I look forward to every single year.

I guess we both just got so excited doing stuff that we forgot, eh?

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

It always gets me in a party mood because I think I am in the casino and I imagine the music and fun of being there to play Bingo. The excitement builds as it leads up to September 1!

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

It is so much fun and one can relax while doing it. And we all have a chance to win. And I think we all cheer for each other doing it. It just sets the stage for a lot of fun.

Thank you for the gift of your imagination and all your hard work making it happen. This is definitely an activity that I love and look forward to every year, in addition to writing with you in the Masquerade. Such fun!!

I was picturing the little snail in my imagination dancing to Saturday Night Fever.

This definitely made me smile.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I think it is so funny to have a snail at the disco. Normally I think of snails as being slow. This was very amusing as it took the snail out of his comfort zone.

This may have actually cheered me up from my foul mood! Go for it, little snail!!

It's fun when I get surprised and amused at the same time. I saw this Uptown Funk thing on Youtube with old time movie stars dancing to Uptown Funk. Now, I will picture a snail dancing with them. How cool!

I saw that you had updated your Journal of Faith. I always find it to be inspiring and it helps me to focus on what I should be focusing on instead of the everyday concerns.

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

I thought about how important it is to have gratitude for those things that are better and not to just zero in on the things we are unhappy about.

It is about counting our blessings and knowing that there will be a brighter day as we look to the future.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

Life can be full of overwhelming challenges and loss, but then the sun shines through. As the season begins to change to Fall we move forward with our positive prayers and with finding a way to accept what we cannot change and move forward.

Thank you, as always, for having some inspiration for me to start this new month of September. As you indicate, there is a great deal to be thankful for as we move on.

I like the descriptions of Davon and Benson. They make a good pair, looking out for each other. It is in a time of great danger that the truth is revealed to Colleen, but she senses it all along as her feelings for Davon grow.

I like how you show from the behavior of the characters how they feel about each other.

I enjoyed the ending and how it came about. Andre seems like he ends up where he belongs.

What brought the Hand of THiNG to your port?

I saw that this is your anniversary month so I came to read and send a review. But I ended up on your August Goals. The title drew me in. That is because I have had a counselor who helped me to set goals for coping. Hers were more about making sure I got out every day so I didn't just hide from the world.

So, I would list the things I had to do even if it is just go to the grocery store or go get gas. It was helpful to cross things out every day. Some days I would just go to the post office, but it gave me something to cross off the list.

I quit doing that, but I should go back to it. Thanks for the reminder!

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

This is set up very well and gives me ideas of things to do to encourage myself. Mine will probably be less artful (because of lack of ability) and more about maybe just writing it down off line in a journal.

I have a lot of empty journals so it uses them, too.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

You certainly have done a good job of sticking with it. I like that you aren't specific about what a good deed (or creative or useful deed) has to be. You get to be the decider there. I imagine there is some overlap in the categorization of deeds department.

Some of your stuff is clustered together. I guess this could be you got in the mood to do it and give yourself credit for doing whatever it was.

It still maintains privacy whilst leaving room for encouragement.

Do you post this around the same time every day or does it vary?

I think that your Daily Goals are definitely reasonable and you do a good job of keeping up with them. Sometimes, I forget things like the Blood Pressure measuring - but with a list it makes it more of a routine one can stick to.

The layout is very impressive and this has inspired me to do my own thing.

Can't ask for better than that.

If you write this well about not feeling able to express yourself, just imagine how well you will do when you unleash your imagination.

Once you let them out, words do take on a life of their own and it's a brave new world then.

Nessie is magical. No wonder Queen Elizabeth loved Balmoral. I could picture Nessie from your words. She seems like such a kind spirit. No wonder the Royal Family escapes from reality to such an enchanted place.

I like that Nessie is kind and friendly. That is how I picture her, too. I wonder if the late Queen is with her now.

I am born under the sign of the moon, cancer. I have often observed how the moon can have an impact on animals and moods.
There is romance with the moon.

Not everyone can see it, but it's there. Boo could see it and she would howl quietly sometimes.

I like thinking about the moon and the unusual things it brings. I stay inside now that I am older, but moonlight still beckons at times. I enjoyed reading this very much!

What Does THiNG think about while perusing your item?

I think that we put it in God's hands. We do not know what is best so we leave it up to God after we pray and do our best. It is impossible to know the real truth so we do our best.

What does THiNG applaud about while reading your item?

I think we all must come to a point where we realize that it is beyond our control. We do what we can do to make things better and do the right thing. Sometimes it is hard to know what is the right thing.

But, over time, I do believe that God shows us the way. We just have to be alert enough to see it.

It is good to share prayers and ideas for prayers. Well done. I might do an off line thing to ask for help from God, too.

I love the idea that a princess named, Hope, finds a friend in a Dragon, who is the answer to all her dreams. Life can be surprising if someone is open to new experiences and opens their hearts to others.

Princess Hope lives up to her name.

I like how protective Stefan is and how Lamont respects the Princess' relationship with the gentle dragon, who looks out for her. Everyone should have a guardian angel, dragon like Stefan.

What does tHiNg think about while perusing your item?

I thought about regrets and taking things for granted. At critical moments, one tends to worry about the wrong things. If we live long enough, we will all experience loss.

What does tHiNg applaud about while reading your item?

I thought about how looking back you see the reality of what went on. It is hard to focus on finding the truth while things are happening and people are deteriorating. It is a rare person that can see things realistically while they are happening. There is a protective instinct that takes hold.

I found your poem to be very moving.

I saw that your site anniversary (your 15th I believe if I did the math right!) is this week so I wanted to read and send a review!

What does tHiNg think about while perusing your item?

Your well chosen words provide the perfect end of summer reading. Your poem flows well and you manage to paint a picture that defines the season over time. Your title is engaging and, therefore, fits perfectly. Very straightforward and evocative!

I do hope you will return soon to enjoy the site.

What does tHiNg applaud about while reading your item?

Your poem brought back many memories for me - some of times at the beach enjoying the season and some that are more recent. I went to Arlington Cemetery and this brought back the feeling I had there earlier this summer. It is fitting that the season should start and conclude with eloquent words.

This is my favorite passage:

"The soul cannot ignore
the powerful peace
of surfs' deafening roar
and ebbs’ soft release."

As I get older, I fine that nature and the seasons and their traditions defines life in a way that popular culture does not. We go back to what we are familiar with and what matters. Time at the shore is to be cherished all throughout life if we take it in properly.

I enjoyed reading your poem very much. To read such lovely words helps me make it through another day with fond memories and a smile.

I saw you had updated your inspiring faith journal, so I came to read and send my thoughts in a review.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

I thought about how people let me down when I was trying to care for Tom. Now when they let me down it doesn't matter as much because it's not for him anymore. And I have learned, unfortunately, to expect it in some quarters.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

I, too, am grateful for so much. I wish I was better at the forgiveness challenge than I am. I am sorely lacking in that at times, but I hope to do better. There is a lot to be thankful for and if I let Tom inspire me, he always focused on the positive and didn't even bother to remember the other.

He was a great teacher, but I'm not so good at learning.

I always love to read here every day, but especially today when I didn't go to church. Well done!

I thought of the change of seasons and how things progress and move along. Right now it is transitioning to Fall. March seems a long way in the past, but it's coming again with all the biting wind and changeable weather.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

I like the positivity of realizing that Spring and it's longer, warmer days is around the corner. You help the reader hope for something better while observing the sensory discomfort of the bitter winds of March.

I saw that you had added to your Faith Journal so I came to read and send thoughts.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

I thought about how well you organize your goals and dreams in order to pray for them. Sometimes what I pray for gets all jumbled up in my thoughts. But it is good to focus on what is important and you do that very well.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

You pray for some wonderfully positive things, which inspire me to pray too. Church is so positive most of the time and it starts the week off right.

It is good to have positive interactions at church that make us feel good for going there. Children can be so sweet and loving, while adults are more reserved.

I saw it was your 23rd Account Anniversary and I wanted to wish you a happy one and many more happy ones as the years roll on.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

It is interesting how experiences that have the potential of being traumatic can almost be soothing in our memories. The more time goes on, the more I see things that happened in the past in more than one way.

I guess you see it through the prism of experience.

Water can signify so many things, both positive and negative. It's a life line and a life taker. I think that you capture that very well in your essay, drawn from experiences so long ago and along the way.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

I like that looking back, you have turned a near death experience into one of wonder. It is comforting to think that the end will be as gentle as is your memory of that day. Family history colors all our reactions to similar events that confront us.

This was very well written - well done!

I clicked on the Read and Review option on the left side of the screen and it brought me to your fine poem.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

The "No Fault of Our Own" in the title is ironic. It is totally our fault, but not according to the media that wants to push a certain agenda.

In recent generations past, people wanted to make a better world for their children and grandchildren. Now, the world seems more self-centered, short-sighted and selfish.

Not thinking things through is indicative of that short sighted behavior. I shudder to think about what it will lead to.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your

item?

The message, as far as I can see is that we don't learn from our mistakes. We just keep repeating the same pattern in subtly different ways.

They call the WW II Generation the greatest generation for a reason. It's been a downhill gradual slide ever since.

This was my favorite part:

"Political unity will continue to castrate
These representative government entities
Into further submission.
And juvenile leanings will harken
A future distrust of faithless altruism
Once seen as so morally encompassing…"

All with the media in America, the great enabler. And then we wonder who is in charge.

Very thoughtful poetic essay. Nice work!

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

I like how you transition from stark reality in the first stanza to something more moving and ethereal in the last two.

This sort of reverses the expected order, which might be from the vision to the reality of her situation.

I would give this a different title as at first I thought it was a rough draft, but upon reading it feels finished to me.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your
item?

Those last two lines are magical. My house sits on a hill and I could readily identify with your words.

I think we are all anxious about things because the public has been lied to for so long. It doesn't seem very Democratic, what's going on.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

It is good to pray and to hold on to our faith. It gives us something stable to hold to in times of trouble.

I was looking at the things recently updated. I went to your journal and this entry caught my eye.

What does HOOves think about while perusing your item?

I thought about Arlington and how they have a lot of statues honoring people, including the Iwo Jima Memorial.

What does HOOves moo appreciatively about while reading your item?

That is a memorable thing about Titanic. It makes me want to watch that movie again. It came on cable when I was in the hotel in Arlington, the night before Tom's service. I did not make it to the end, but the movie relaxed me and I want to see it again now and stay awake to see her looking at the Statue of Liberty.

I don't like that people tore down statues in the pandemic. It's like trying to erase history and rewrite the stories.

If we don't learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. Someone said that, but I think it's true.

This is a very thoughtful entry that I enjoyed reading very much.
