Review of Misinformation

Excellent poetry, unfortunately too much truth to give me peace. Where has peace gone? This poem says it all with a good flow of words and an honest progression of what is happening in not just the USA but round the world. Hope for better days to come.

Gandhi is a hero internationally and true prophet. I think of all the good he did for so many people, helping end the caste system in India and then influencing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in America for civil rights, another caste system. I would have loved to meet him. This is beautiful-thanks for posting this.

I loved this tune sung by your Dad. He has a wonderful spiritual voice. I wish I had something with my Dad's voice on it. You certainly must treasure this and it is gift to put it on WDC so we can share in the beauty.

Nice use of the prompt and a metaphor for life. It is indeed a twisty path and you really don't know the results of the turns you make. I really enjoyed and related to this. It is a fairly smooth flow of words and a rhyme pattern. Very nice writing for this Writer's Cramp prompt. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.

I was reading your blog prompt and remember when I was studying with Jehovah Witness'. My brother and family belong and they don't celebrate either. Actually most texts show that Jesus wasn't even born during that time etc etc. I realize that Christmas is a huge commercial thing and some people do over spend and get in trouble with debt. I love your poem and you are right. I like the style of it also-very original and creative. Being in healthcare, I have always had to work at the hospital when my kids were little but it is a time that families do get together and many people have time off. It is fun for children. Most of my memories of childhood are about holidays. I don't make all the stuff about a spiritual thing, it is about family and getting together and memories. For me the spiritual is inside and how I treat others. Easter is certainly a pagan holiday but this is what our system is all about. Kind of sad but not all bad. Have a good weekend.

Kat

Bob-

I always love your two cents. It keeps me laughing about the insanity of this world we live in. Your ability to take real life events and make a point, that might make people think, is creative writing at its best.

What a wonderful piece that touched my heart. It is unusual to read something that clearly shows the disparity between our world and a communist country like China. I learn so much from books written by journalists that cover other cultures. Nicholas Kristof(New York Times columnist) and his wife have written quite a few books about humanitarian concerns that should be required reading in schools. I love the classics and historical books but our grandchildren need to know about the world they are living in now. Thanks for writing this informative story. I want to reach out and help this young girl. It is so different from the Disney-like world our children see on social media. We fight over the most trivial things (cancel culture) here in the US while people are virtually starving and have few rights that we take for granted. I realize you are from Australia and maybe people care more there but I don't see it here as often as it should be emphasized.
Peace,
Kat

Any comments are only my personal ideas and meant as suggestions.

My overall impression: Very well written with a lot of emotions expressed. The rhyme and rhythm are good with a smooth flow. I read some of your other material and you are an excellent writer and a courageous survivor.

What I liked most:I would imagine you have been at death's door a few times so taking chances and living life in the moment would be a natural reflex. I am thinking how I would feel in your place and as a health professional, I shouldn't do that. But as a recovering addict, I don't ever judge any person's feelings. The following verse spoke to me.

Tempted by unveiled instinct,
and sudden animalistic urges.
Volatile need arises,
light versus dark, emerges.
.

Suggestions for change: None

This writing made me feel: I can relate to this poem because I have felt this way.

Always make the time to write. Your characters will speak to you, if you take the time to listen.

My overall impression: This is beautifully written with descriptions that soak up the senses and overflow.

What I liked most: I can picture this special part of a life being hidden far away from all distractions and noise to find the silence of darkness after "death" to come to awareness. It is like the ultimate innocence and peace.

Love the following:
The stars forgot it.
The oceans missed it
as they counted each humble grain of sand— twice;
and yet,
quiet, quieter
in this stillness of the uncaring void
it is within the midst of silence
that the soul finds its voice.

Suggestions for change: None

This writing made me feel: I have a hard time with the idea of a soul. I have never seen it during an autopsy or surgery. I am not religious really but there are mysteries that science can't explain and this is one. You have such a gift.

You really paint a great picture of this time of the year. It is beautiful glory and then certain death for the leaves. I suppose that is a metaphor for life. The circle just keeps going round and round and the work of cleaning up continues. Thanks for the read.

I really got into this story, it is good, suspenseful and frightening. Perfect for Halloween and the contests going around right now. I read it kind of fast and noted a few grammar errors but only a few. You might want to go over it again carefully but I would enter it in a contest. It is a surprise ending that makes a lot of sense considering the sheer madness of the story. Great story with a complex character and told very well. Keep writing.

My best,

I love your attitude and agree with what you are saying. I don't know your age but for younger women this shouldn't be as much of a problem. I guess it depends on many things, mostly your family dynamic and how girls/ women are respected in your family to begin with. I am 68, married at eighteen and was a Mom at nineteen. I was lucky that my Mom tried to push me to do something for myself, to stand up for what I wanted. But I didn't listen and married an older man who was controlling. My answer was Ms. magazine. I decided to go to college at 21 and it opened so many doors for me, gave me confidence. You keep on standing up for yourself-I have cared for many victims of domestic abuse. Sad what women have endured.
Great writing.

This is such an important story that you tell so well. You should win this time. I am a retired RN and almost all of what you expressed could have happened in the Covid ICU. You bring both the RN and the patient to life with your conversation and descriptions. Excellent writing skills, keep writing. I love the empathy shown.

Any comments are only my personal ideas and meant as suggestions.

My overall impression: I enjoyed this walk along memory lane about you and your friend. Sorry, she is no longer alive. I have no idea about your age or if you are American. I didn't recognize some of the words (Council, calipers) you used. Maybe you could fill out your bio-block soon. You must be about my age because I remember getting the sugar cubes with the polio vaccine when I was about 8 or so. It was brand new and everyone was excited. After knowing people in iron lungs (respirators) and some with paralysis, my parents feared for their children.

What I liked most:
I am left with lots of lasting memories and reminders that we are all only here for a short time. Diane may be no longer with us but she has inspired me to look at my life and stick to my goals.

I love this quote from J.R.R. Tolkein.
'I wish it need not have happened in my time' said Frodo.
'So do I,' said Gandalf 'and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.'
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

Suggestions for change: You have a few punctuation mistakes I noted, like the lack of a comma (easy stuff). You might add a description of your friend as a child, maybe a small conversation you two carried on or the name of a song or icon you both liked. I loved the fact that you had plays. I just hungered to know more about your friend that you were so close to. She sounds like a strong personality that wanted to leave something of herself in this world (her children). Sounds like she had a full and happy life.

This writing made me feel: One of my two very best friends has Alzheimer's now and doesn't recognize anyone anymore. She is 12 years older. I went through that with my Mom, it is so hard on friends and family to see the loss of what made them so special, the essence of their personality. Keep writing, you are very good at it.

Wonderfully written poem with snapshots of the beauty of nature and caution about our carelessness with it. This is certainly a time we all should be caring for our resources that are shrinking or being polluted. I love the description of the bird.
Glossy black feathers-shone bright,
Powerfully strong, beautiful in mid-flight.
Tail feathers with a deep red hue,
A proud red-tailed Black cockatoo
.
I see you have this as a children's poem but many adults should appreciate the deep message of this wonderful piece. Keep writing, you do it so well.

Such a beautiful write, you have captured nature like a video diary of the birds and the nest. I love the descriptions of the parents protecting their little ones. We are all fascinating creatures with built in instincts over our young. Thanks for the lovely read for the morning. We have baby fawns in our backyard and their Mom, they are a joy to watch.
I feel sad for people that pay little attention to the beauty around them, something that is free and very special. Take care.

Review of Rose

Any comments are only my personal ideas and meant as suggestions.

My overall impression: This is a wonderful emotional piece of prose. The rose is always an excellent example of perfection with an armor that can hurt the person that wants possession of it. You used the image very well. It flows with a nice rhythm and good imagery.

What I liked most:

I was born with my thorns to protect myself now it's the flaw to truly let you in.
It's me i caused all your pain, you now watch me wither away... now all your left with is scars.
I was...your perfect rose

Suggestions for change: now all your left with is scars. You might want to change the your to you are or you're. Otherwise it is perfect.

This writing made me feel: I recognize the feelings in this writing. Keep writing, you are very good at it.

Review of Losing you

Such a heart tugging emotional piece and I feel so much for you. I think it takes a lot of courage to be so real about family issues. A lot of people cover up and appear to be in a cloud or don't want to face the truth. I hope that writing some of your family heartbreak is helping you. I know how much it helped me to journal about my parents deaths and I have no idea what you have gone through, I just know that all families have messy relationships. Kids that don't see their parents for years, parents that cast their children aside for addiction, being gay, marrying someone of another color or religion. It's all messy, some just don't want to talk about it. I hope you can resolve some issues or least connect before your parents depart this world. I am glad you have so much faith. Keep writing.

What a lovely poem, you expressed a whole experience in just a minimum of words. I can feel the emotions of love that most mothers feel. Even if you give that child up for adoption, a part of you is unique and I think you would always recognize that. Congratulations, I wouldn't change a thing. That was a difficult prompt.

As a fellow recovering addict, I appreciate this rainbow poem very much. You have written a beautiful piece about how your whole world changes when you are sober. Colors really are brighter, nature comes to life, your senses open and emotions come. You see both the beauty and darkness around you. You also mention the honesty that keeps you sober. Truer words have never been spoken. Practicing addicts are the best liars until they get caught and you always do. Like the hole in the road, well, you know that one. Keep writing. This is original, creative and well written with heart felt emotion. There is one in my port you might like, it is kind of dark.

You have the ability to paint an incredible scene with words, a wonderful gift. There is much to love here, it really appeals to my sense of flying and observing the world below me. Not a part of the mischief man can make but the beauty nature has bestowed us with. I might have to blink quite a bit these days. I really enjoyed this piece. You are spot on with details.

Some thoughts are the formatting, maybe break it up a bit with paragraphs. Perhaps a smaller font (up to you, of course). I have eyesight problems but can always enlarge with my own browser.

I love the eagle and it's power and understand "survival of the fittest". But my heart is with the sparrow. Heart means more than power to me even if it is my demise. Just my personal feelings, to each his own.

Thanks for a great read. Keep writing.

This is an interesting read and something to think about. I believe when someone puts the information out there, they expect something in return. "I am sorry" is much better than" I understand how you feel" because no one can know what someone else is going through. I think it is a shame that people don't send cards out anymore. I know when my parents died, the plants and cards helped. The other thing that is overused is "thoughts and prayers". Then there is the hugs, emoji and love you. This kind of emotional sentiment used to be reserved for close friends and family. Right now with all the Covid restrictions we have been under, it is great to have the Internet though. I know that people still step up and help their neighbors and also volunteer some great advice in support groups when it is asked for. An expression of caring is always better than silence. Very good article with excellent thought required.

Peace,
Kat

I love this poem. You have a nice flow with rhythm throughout. The message is one most people can relate to. I don't see any errors. Nice read for today since I was upset about constantly entering a contest and it seems the same couple of people keep winning. I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Try again, I suppose. Thanks for the pat on the back and push to do better. Have a great day. Keep writing.

Seems like Haiti was just hit and many died. I have noticed that all the news has spoken about today is Afghanistan so they can blame Biden on all channels. No one hardly mention these poor people in Haiti. The next thing will be about all the Muslims being brought into the country from Afghanistan. I don't understand this world. I keep seeing the helicopters leaving Saigon. Many of those people came here and became wonderful citizens. Pol Pot went into the corrupt government of South Vietnam and slaughtered all kinds of people. We forget all these attempts at trying to make other countries into democracies-we aren't even holding our own together.

Sorry, Rant over! Wanted to compliment your lovely but sad poem. It is very visual and a reminder of the force of weather changes that we have a hand in also. I have been reading your blog. Love it. Be well and safe, my friend.

Peace,
Kat
