Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "In October, the prequel to Dracula is being released by Bram Stoker's Great-Grandnephew Dacre Stoker. The book is called Dracul. How about writing a paragraph or two of a prequel to Dracula and then when the book is released you can see how you did compared to his. This could be a lot of fun."

Sorry but I have never cared for Dracula movies nor do I care to write about one. I do care about the one weapon that can be used to fend of Dracula though. The movies always show Dracula reacting as if he is harmed by crucifixes. The crucifix is a symbol of Jesus Christ and old Dracula is represented as being the epitome of evil, almost as if Dracula were Satan himself. Satan is terrified of Jesus because he knows that time is growing short until Jesus returns and casts Satan and all of his followers into the lake of fire where they will burn eternally.

Blog City image small Prompt: "Here's a strange question that might get some ideas flowing. Where do spiders and stars overlap. After all John Donne found inspiration with a flea. Have fun!"

Boy I'm having all kinds of trouble with my muse tonight. Perhaps the fact that I am doing homework for college and writing a term paper may have something to do with it but I just am not inspired by the prompts tonight. Besides I'm a preacher. I made a decision recently that I was going to take every prompt and attempt to relate it to Christ. So where do stars and spiders overlap? They overlap of course because they were both created by Jesus Christ and He continues to rule over them!

Blog City image small "Prompt: "Color affects us emotionally, it evokes different feelings, represents memories and completely changes our spaces: it's a joyful thing we all interpret in unique ways." Louise Townsend Write anything you want about this."

Jesus knew exactly what He was doing when He created color. What would our world be like if it was devoid of color? We would not have the beauty we currently have. I guess if we never knew what color was we wouldn't miss it but isn't the world a much better place due to color? I have read studies where certain mental illnesses are less effected by subdued colors but think that if I had the illnesses I would likely still choose to have some color around me.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Let's discuss books versus e-books? Do you prefer reading books or using e-readers? When e-readers first came out everyone thought that books would finally die off but that doesn't appear to be the case or is it too soon to tell. Should authors focus on publishing e-books instead of traditional books? What are your thoughts ?"

As a writer I find e-books to be a very negative thing. I published four hard copy books around the turn of the century. To my disappointment my contact did not cover any e-books and all I sold were e-books. I lost a lot of money that way.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Another month is almost upon us, what are your plans for September? Fall cleaning, travel, decorating for Halloween, canning, going off to school, celebrating your kids return to school, "

My plans for September are to improve my lot in life by obtaining my bachelor's degree. I have returned to school and will be doing so as a full time student. Fortunately my classes only meet two days per week but I spend my free time studying, working on term papers, or doing homework. Of course I also do street ministry and activities with my church. Jesus always comes first!

I have found that money cannot buy happiness. True happiness comes only from knowing Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Thus a person is changed from the heart. Old hatreds are gone and love begins to replace the hatred and anger we once held. Jesus becomes real to us.

https://www.cruisecritic.com/cruiseto/itinerary-57117/

While we're hanging out by the pool, let's discuss what band you enjoyed the most? the least?"

I have only been on one cruise ship. It was merely a river barge that cruised around the Three Rivers area of Pittsburgh PA. It was a day they had set aside to give free rides, entertainment, and dining to veterans and I was permitted to go with a group of veterans from Clarksburg VAMC in Clarksburg WV. The dinner was delicious and the boat ride was incredible. We saw parts of all three rivers in Pittsburgh and were entertained by Elvis impersonators and Cher impersonators who pulled off the shows of their images superbly. Several door prizes were given away and we all left with goodie bags full of treats.

Blog City image small "Prompt: Do you think people are aware of their own emotional needs and habits all the time? What about artists and writers? Are they more aware than other people?"

I think most people are emotionally wounded from childhood. We carry huge bags of emotions with us that amount to tons of unprocessed resentments, undefined guilt, and unfinished shame. Most of us aren't aware that we even drag these impossibly heavy bags with us into each relationship. We find ourselves comparing the people in our lives with individuals from our past and then wonder why we react so negatively to the individuals in our present. We can't trust anybody we meet and we never realize it is because we're comparing them with the people who created our emotional baggage! Well guess what? Jesus Christ heals all of our emotional baggage if we let Him! Of course many do not trust their heavenly father because their earthly father treated them horribly. We have to realize that our past is what it is and quit letting it dictate our future. Drop the baggage and quit making comparisons!

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "prompt: Read any good books lately?"

I am currently reading text books for school since I have enrolled into the regents program at Marshall University. My favorite course thus far has been "Drug Wars", which is an upper level history class and "Appalachian Geography, which is my science class. I don't care for Political Science so far. The book "Smuggler Nation" has been interesting though.

Blog City image small John Green who is the author of The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska says, “In my opinion, actual heroism, like actual love, is a messy, painful, vulnerable business—and I wanted to try to reflect that.”
What is heroism to you and how would you show it through your writing?

Heroism and love go hand in hand for me. Heroes typically make their sacrifices out of love. Military veterans in most countries fight either because they love their countries or they love their families who live in those countries. I live at the West Virginia Veterans Home where I serve as chaplain. Only veterans are permitted to live here and I deal with men and women who have made tremendous sacrifices for the United States. My sacrifice was small in comparison to most but all of us love our country. Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself and suffered the loss of His home in Heaven, death on the cross, and loss of fellowship with God the Father temporarily because He loved mankind and knew that His death would serve to restore mankind to fellowship with God. It is so sad that many reject this free gift. Military veterans are heroes because they sacrifice themselves as patriots for their countries. Jesus is a hero because He sacrificed Himself for the entire world.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: Write about My Home."

My home currently is the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville WV. I share my home with about 80 other veterans, for all of whom I have the deepest respect and admiration. Each of them has sacrificed tremendously for the freedoms we take for granted in the USA. I read a marquee every time I go to the VAMC which says "The price of freedom is visible here."

It refers to the many disabled and ill veterans who have sacrificed so much. I would say that the price of freedom is also visible here at the West Virginia Veterans Home and other state veterans home across the USA because many of the residents here suffer disabilities obtained in the line of duty that will follow them the remainder of their lives. My only regret is that many of them refuse to have anything to do with my Lord Jesus Christ who can heal all wounds and teach us how to overcome our hurts, habits, and hangups by dependence on Him. I pray each day for revival to come upon the veterans home and for each veteran here to commit their lives to Jesus Christ with the same tenacity with which they committed themselves to military service. I firmly believe that revival will come here. An outpouring of the Holy Spirit looms on the horizon.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Write about something beautiful in your area of the world."

I live in Barboursville WV so I am deep in Appalachia. We have some of the most beautiful mountains in the world here. During the summer time, like now, our mountains are covered with a carpet of green trees. If you happen to be driving through the mountains in the evening you get a very special treat. One mountain will cast a long shadow upon the bottom part of another, exposing the higher part to the reddening evening sun causing the mountain to have a golden glow over all of its green. This sight is incredible. Less than an hour away from my location is the New River Gorge complete with its own beautiful valley and sunset. The New River Bridge is considered on of the seven wonders of the modern world. Jesus definitely took His time when He created West Virginia and scenes like the New River Gorge have added to His handiwork. Image #2167049 over display limit. -?- .\

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "Let's see where your creative genius takes you with this quote by Leonardo Da Vinci. Begin what ever you write with "I love those who can smile in trouble… "

Have fun on this creation Saturday."

My bible teaches me to give thanks in all things, I Thessalonians 5:18. Therefore I know that I should keep a grateful attitude even in troubled times because I know that Jesus Christ is in control. Her made the world and everything in it. He knows what He is doing. Hardship leads me to deeper dependence on Him. Hardship also makes me grow. I coined the expression that humans are like plants. We grow best when the manure is piled upon us deeply. Pain is the manure that makes us grow so each hardship that Jesus leads us through is a gift that will make us grow.

https://www.onthisday.com/events/august/24

There are obviously a lot of historical events that occurred on August 24 over the years. While some of those events were tragic and some seemed as if men thought they could control them, Jesus Christ had control the whole time. Events occur because he allows them to occur. He is in charge.

Image #1971173 over display limit. -?- "Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life."~ Mark Twain

Yes indeed, Mr. Twain is correct. So let's talk about something you've done recently with a good friend or a good book you've read."

Recently I have been going to college. I transferred 78 credits to Marshall University and a very good friend of mine has been going with me to help me navigate my way around the large campus of eighteen thousand students. Without my friend Joe I would be lost in the system there. He helps me find the right buildings and rooms. I thank God for him. He's a Christian like myself so I know he is doing God's will in guiding me around and helping me secure services I may not know exist. As to books I am reading a Star Trek novel right now along with online assignments from school. I'm still waiting on my books, which I should have next week. I have lots of notes to read as well

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "Use this words in your writing : pardon, positive, lid, aunt, sympathetic, scrap, and pop".

Pardon me but I am positive I have been in a scrap heap or two in my time. Nobody was ever sympathetic toward me but instead spurred me to do better. I had an aunt who once told me I acted retarded even though I was very intelligent. I told her yo put a lid on it but she was right. I was acting foolishly at the time. Somebody needed to pop me in the mouth and burst my bubble!

image:1971183-25%} "Prompt: "I longed to be transported into that quiet little landscape, to walk up the path, to take a key from my pocket and open the cottage door"..... What happens next?"

I opened the cottage door and found a burglar inside. I called the police and told them I had a burglar. The police told me not to confront the burglar but how could I avoid it? The burglar heard me talking and confronted me. He started to pull a weapon but I used martial arts to disarm him. Now I am here to testify against him!

I had a few favorite memories of the tooth fairy. She has left me up to fifty cents or even a dollar at a time for teeth. However the tooth fairy is not somebody I wanted to teach my son about. I figured if I taught him that the tooth fairy existed and then he found out it was a lie and Santa Claus was a lie along with the Easter Bunny then it would not be a huge jump for him to say that Jesus Christ was not real either. The schools are already working hard to teach him that so I don't want to add fuel to the fire. Jesus is real.

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." Anne Of Green Gables With this in mind, write you love about October."

I am not a big fan of October because it it the last full month in which there are leaves on the trees before they fall completely leaving the earth looking gloomy. It is also the last full month of daylight savings time. So I get depressed in October as I say good bye to summer weather and summer conditions.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: August 21 is National Senior Citizen Day. The traditional definition of a senior citizen is any one over the age of 60. Write a tribute to or something inspiring you learned from a Senior Citizen."

I have to disagree with you. The new definition of a senior citizen, at least as far as the American Association of Retired People is concerned, is that a person is a senior at 55. Most senior organizations at the county level where I am from are open to members starting at 55. I am 57 and have been considered a senior for two years. Anyway the lessons I have learned from seniors and the one I am applying to my own life right now, is that you are never too old to start over. I am a student at Marshall University where I am working on a general education degree in the regents program. To be totally honest I am a bit apprehensive about the whole idea of going back to school since I have not pursued higher education in ten years. However I see people in wheelchairs who are older than I am also pursuing degrees and know that if they can do it I can do it. So today I begin my first day of classes.

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Which feels more important, how much one is loved or how much one is able to love?"

Jesus told us that it was most important that we be able to love others. John 13: 34 says "A new commandment I give you: that you love one another as I have loved you."

All of Jesus ministry and His example was that of love. He loved us enough that He was willing to take on human flesh and die for us. As such it is much more important that we love than are loved. Wanting somebody to love us is self-centered. Wanting to love others is other centered and what God demands that we do.
