I like to read novels and biographies, so if I can review them at the same time, why not. My ratings are usually at the high end because I think if someone has taken the time and effort to write a large piece, it is an achievement. The review will give the opportunity to flag up typographic errors. I do not mark down ratings for these errors because they are easily fixed.

Review of Torture
Review by Bruce.
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
A sad but interesting short story. We can only imagine the hardships suffered back in those times. I look forward to more from you as your story is refreshingly different.
"upto 18 hours a day." I think this should be "up to" Other than that I spotted no errors.
Welcome to W.D.C. I hope you will enjoy your time on here.

A good continuation to the story. Good characterisation and entertaining situations give this chapter a feel-good atmosphere, and as a bonus, perhaps love is in the air.
Possible typos: “Andy took a moment to (get) used to the idea” , “as Tarah continued to babble aways (away).” , “ Andy nodded briefly, them (then) left the sofa” , “hurt the oak tree it was bult (built) in.”
I look forward to reading more of this story.

A very good piece of writing. The dialogue is excellent, spiffing even. The storyline line flows and as well as moving the story on fills us with information about the vocations and the surroundings. The use of a narrator fits well in a period piece like this. I would say that this is of a professional standard and I spotted no errors. Very well done, and I look forward to continuing with this.

A refreshingly good story about young people. I like the way all the characters interact. The writing is of a high standard which adds to the enjoyment of the read. I spotted no errors other than a few typos.

This is a good story showing potential for interest from youthful readers. The characters are well-drawn and believable and the storyline holds enough interest for the reader to want to read on. It is not known where this story will lead us, but the good quality of the writing will, I'm sure, give an entertaining and enjoyable read.
Probable typographic errors: "about tge philosophical dilemma of free-will" , "He didn't know it (at) the time, but"

Review of Affection?
Review by Bruce.
Rated: E | (5.0)
A nice piece of writing about an on-line acquaintance. When I started reading I feared that it would turn into the equivalent of a video nasty and was so glad when it didn't. The story flows well and retained my interest from start to finish and I spotted no errors.
From a purely personal preference, I think it would be better with the titles and dates removed. But maybe wait until someone else comments as some may feel that the titles enhance the story. I also feel that you could do without the CAPITALS to show shouting and perhaps show her anger in another way.
Thank you for an entertaining, enjoyable feel-good short.

Review of My Critter Zoo
Review by Bruce.
Rated: E | (5.0)
Nice to find a well-constructed and enjoyable rhyming poem. Whether it was written from fleshing out an idea or from starting with a thought and continuing with it, the result is a great piece. Though the beginning is a bit sad, the middle develops into an interesting story and finishes with a feel-good ending. I found no errors with this. 5 woofs from me.

Writing style and narration: well, I think it is very good. I completely understand what you are saying and the writing is written to, a shall I say, a professional standard. The content is interesting and amusing. You obviously have talent and I look forward to reading more of your work.
One possible typo': "an year is through the glasses of days." Should this be: a year?

Wow, that is incredible. It is a good well-written short and it held my interest right to the end. And what an end it was; totally unexpected and brought a huge smile to my face. I spotted no errors in this, probably the best little nonsense short I've read. Very well done and welcome to WDC.

A well-written prologue. I enjoyed the read and the vision of the journey through the woods was full of suspense and intrigue. It fills the reader with anticipation of what is to become of the group. I spotted no errors and so with the enjoyment of the piece, it gets full marks from me.
I would not read on because of the mention at the end of vampires. Purely a personal thing as I find them a bit cliche and a turn off switch comes into operation at the mention of them. However, those who enjoy vampire stories are sure to be in for a treat as the writer seems to be very skilled in their work.

Review of A Raven's Blood
Review by Bruce.
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
An interesting, if somewhat different story. As with a lot of shorts, it leaves the reader wanting to know more. This being denied adds to the quality of the item and of course, it also leaves the door open for the piece to be extended. I noticed no errors.
If you go into the edit and scroll down to advanced you can set the piece to double space paragraphs which will make it easier to read.

I spotted a probable typo' :"where Hank's territory." perhaps:"were Hank's territory."
Who needs vampires and stuff when you can read enjoyable and entertaining pieces about true life characters. Great well-written little story and I loved the uplifting last paragraph.

A great description of the dwelling puts the reader in the picture. The conversation with the old lady neighbour is also well done and keeps the reader interested. Again I noticed no errors or typo's in this well-written chapter and I look forward to more of this fantasy adventure.

An introduction to another probable main character in the story. As a contrast we have a petty thief with a magical gift that comes in very handy in her line of work. Again the chapter is well written and it is easy to visualise what we are told is happening. I spotted no errors or typo's.

A great opening prologue leaving the reader with lots of unanswered questions. I for one would want to know more and would be quite happy to read on. I spotted no errors or typo's in this well-written piece. Well done with this and welcome to W.D.C.

While I was here I checked this one out. I am so glad I did as this again is so well constructed and thought out. The rhyming and flow are spot on and the nostalgic content of the well-chosen words is very visual. Even though it is a female P.O.V., I can still relate to the content of those wonderful days of our childhood. This is a gem and I am so glad to have had the opportunity to read it.

Well done with this lovely tribute to an old man continuing his journey through life without his wife and companion. It is a well constructed piece with a poignant yet wonderful theme and the well chosen words add to the reading experience. A well deserved winning place in the contest.

Review of A Petulant Life

A nice little well written short about, possibly, an old lady on her deathbed. I spotted no errors, but would not expect to in a short piece like this. Although it is short and to the point, I feel that you could make it longer and give the reader a bit more, but only if you chose to of course.

An interesting piece. Although I don't usually care for coloured fonts, it works here because you cannot include the tags and the colours remove any confusion as to who is speaking. I think that this is a really good effort in the competition and I wish you luck with it. I spotted no typo's or errors. Welcome to WDC.

There is a big gap between the title and Ch 1 and I nearly abandoned it because I thought it was empty. It does happen on here sometimes. So I would reduce the gap. I am assuming that this is a work of fiction, so I'll read on.
In the second paragraph I would swop age & and, to read "name age and all that".
In the Amy section eachother should be two words. In the Tim section infact should be two words.
"He never tells anyone and he's never told anyone." This is repetition, unless you have put it in for effect as a journal item.
I'm not sure "Mckdonalds" & "laundremat" are correct spelling.
I don't read diaries or journals usually, but as I thought this is fiction I saw it through, and am glad that I did. It was quite an entertaining read and you do have a talent which I'm sure will reward you. Good luck in your writing and welcome to W.D.C.

An interesting read and perhaps an insight to something we all hope not to experience. However, living to 94 is quite an achievement and very few will reach that age. I found no faults in this well-written piece. I look forward to more from you. Welcome to W.D.C.

I love this. My type of poem where you have taken the time to craft it and have it rhyme without any forced bits. Despite the narrator getting shot, it is lighthearted and and humorous. I liked the ending which was unexpected and funny. Well done with this.
