Review of The Hermit's Tale
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.0)
What is the mystery in "The Hermit's Tale"? What was the call that "Amilcar heard"? What was the reason "followers came to bring gifts and ask questions"? And what were his answers? And why did he leave the cave and "climbed another mountain"? As the tale ends, Amilcar reasoned and hoped to find "peace somewhere...".

Why did he stay in the cave for about a year before deciding to move up to another mountain, to find peace for himself?

My question: did the author meant this to be a mystery tale?

This short tale tells of a daughter who misses her father, who left a load of "junks" when he passed away. Somehow, the daughter found a machine that gave her some kind of message that was supposed to have been left by the father. When she finally understood the meaning of the riddle that he left, she found a "metal box" that contained "piles of gold coins", which she did not share...

Interesting, indeed...

Review of Death
Review by elephantsealer

As I went over this piece of work, I realized the author seems to believe that "death" is something beautiful, and that death represents to the author a"gorgeous serenity in one's final breath". I wondered why the author believes that death is "all we've got" because there is no question that we have life, we have love, we have loved ones, and most of all we have a life that we can spend with our fellowmen, with our families, with our friends...How can one miss all of that?????

To the author, this indeed is a "good write".

Hey, there writer of "Once in a Blue Moon": you know if you carry on getting excited about any more "cosmological" event, you will eventually see not only one but two, or three, or four "cosmological" event/s that you will get more excited about. Carry on writing and you know you will one day be right there, on the spot, with your excitement...

Do we still believe there are humans who can "morph" into a "cat" or into an animal in order to "kill" a human? The short piece, "After Sunset in Pearl Mist" relates the killing of a "Commander Andre Drummond" by a cat.

When I was little, I heard stories of humans changing into some kind of an animal who can kill. I used to get frightened with such stories. In this world of ours today, there is this story of a cat killing a human. I wonder...

Anyhow, it seems the author has found something to write about; and wrote it rather "frighteningly"... It is rather interesting...

Review of Love Is Blind

"Love Is Blind" brings to my mind the many instances of what "love" means to someone. In this case, the young 17-year-old grows up, and writes about it for others to read and "understand" what love was and is to him...

We do grow up, and we find that "love" is "not blind" at all...

A good piece of work; do write some more...

Review of After Party
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
The author's "After Party" reminds me of the many number of times I have heard and read about parties. Not only mere parties, but parties that are held in someone else's home while they are away...

In a way, this party ends up differently: there was kindness and gratitude from the crowd that almost or practically destroyed someone else's home... It seems a "wake-up" call to the young and the "restless" as I would like to call the "younger crowd" of students...and it illustrates that they are as sensible as the "older" crowd...

A good piece of work to the author. May she/he continue to write more...

Ukraine and its people as well as Putin's war are in the minds of people around the world since the war started. I would like to wish, sometimes, that I have the power to say: presto, Putin's war is lost and the people of Ukraine can go back to their country and live a better life... However, this limerick really is a very good example of how people in the world feel about the war that Putin started in Ukraine.

To the author, good of you to write this limerick, an example of how people feel about the war in Ukraine. May there be good news soon to the people of Ukraine...

Hello, author of "Swords and Letters": reviewing your piece of work reminds me of "me" when I get terribly angry. You have expressed "anger" very well indeed; and here's hoping you will continue to write about other subjects...

Review of Whispers
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
The author's "Whispers" is a great example of students who do not know how to learn and understand the subject of their studies. Stealing test papers become their hope of passing tests/finals. It is obvious that the teacher knows the three students who did not learn anything from the class; and it is also obvious he would give them failing grades.

Was it worth it, stealing test papers?

Sometimes, when I choose to review a piece, I find it truly awesome that there are writers who can write a piece that is really worth reading.

I decided to review "Be Still. Incomplete" because of the phrase: "Be still, and know that I AM God". I have seen and read this phrase before; and the effect on me is the same: I pause and listen because to me it feels as if God is actually "talking" to me. The author has indeed written a piece that shows her/his ability as a writer.

Here's hoping she/he will aggresively continue writing...

Bully for Cassie for finally getting down to her writing. As she said, it took many years to find out and realize the meaning of a father's love...

To the author, it is always good to write what you know as the saying goes...Good luck...

Review of Just Between Us

"Just Between Us" reminded me of another story of another little girl who was burdened by things that happened at home. It seems there is always a little one (girl or boy) that evokes sympathy towards the "little one" by reading stories penned by writers. The one good thing, though, is that there is also "someone" who is able to understand the situation of such a "little one".

To the author, thank you for your short story. Well done...

Well done, you have found a way to release all the hurt feelings you have that you believe other people give you. However, you can be assured that all those people are also finding ways to learn to be more "blessed when you give..." Writing more helps as well...

And so you did something that made you feel good. Well done...it seems more and more people have fallen into a state of need and hunger. However, it is indeed good of you and others like you in volunteering to feed the "hungry". Writing about your work may make others "get up and go" and do volunteer work...

This is a story about two people; a woman and a man, who are thrown together apparently because of the mystery of the place they have both chosen to spend time, away from their own side of the globe. The mystery of the place has affected both of them, of course... However, it seems that both have now realized that they were thrown together because of their decision to stay at a mysterious place.

Although there are a few errors in grammar, the effect of the mysterious place seems the very thing that may in the final analysis bring them together...

To the author, I do believe you have the knack to tell a story...

"The Minds of Trees" is a story of two people who think they need lots and lots of money so that they can grow more trees. It is a grand gesture and a great idea with regard to making "our earth" and "our land" a better place to live in, especially when it reminds us of the many ugly "things" that are destroying "our earth". "Plant more trees" became the echo that seemed to remind us that "our earth" need its people to be more serious in keeping "our earth" a good, clean place to live in; therefore, a "healthy" place for people to enjoy life in its fullest.

I would like to give the author 160 GPs for his effort to bring this idea to the attention of readers like me.

I can totally agree with the author of "We Live in a World..." although I think our world not only "needs to be fixed" but should be overhauled completely... We, humans as we are, are in this world; and what we have done is we have gone and did it our way; we have (and we absolutely believe) that what we are doing is the right thing. We have gone our way merrily doing what we think is best for who we are; we are what we are, and no matter what others say, we stand on what we think we can do, say, believe, whatever moves the human that we are...

The author has all these questions, and the answers are really out there; the only thing we are doing is that we are just looking and asking; not doing at all...so to the author, for what you have written, I would like you to have 195 GPs...

In life, we all have come to believe that when we pass away, we are able to see what happens to the loved ones we leave. And with this short story, the author seems to believe on that idea of seeing himself and guiding the only person he loved and left behind, to be strong... It is a matter of belief, after all... Interesting, indeed...
