Review of What now?
Review by elephantsealer

Yes,indeed... "What now"? This is a short tale of two women who went for a ride in one of the women's car; and how the car unceremoniously ran out of gas as they heard a "truck's brakes squealing behind them", although they probably they did not hear the "BOOM"...

What a tragic story... which may happen to any one who goes for a ride in his/her new car... It is indeed sad that a life is destined to die because of a failure to understand the meaning of a "reading of the hands"...

To the author, do continue to bless us with your writing...

Review of A Mother's Love
Review by elephantsealer

"A Mother's Love" is a familiar tale of how much a mother loves her son. Each year there is a promise of a visit from a son; and each year the visit becomes naught but a mother's disappointment... still, the mother's response to another disappointment is to recall the many days and nights that she cared and loved the son, who may never come and see her...

Do we pity this mother? I certainly would not because this is a mother whose love is pure, unconditional, and unseslfish and because she knows there is a day when her son will come for a visit...

Review of Spring Day

"Spring Day" reminded me of many things that old folks told me when I was very young. One of those was: when we die, we come back to earth as either an animal or a plant or something else (which actually escapes my memory at the moment). Just like this short article, I listened and read all about the reality or falseness of such beliefs. And I grew up NOT BELIEVING AT ALL!!!

I admire the writer, peanutbutter, for writing about "...God put us back on earth as a animal or a bird." Maybe believing is probably one of the things that assures us anything is believable/possible????...

Review of Proof

"Proof" is a short work that brings to the fore the many good things of a mother. We are what we become because our mothers made it so; because our mothers worked to feed us; went without to clothe us; found ways to pay the bills by holding a job; and as per the author, "Us kids were all she ever thought about."

Are mothers wonderful? I would say yes with all my heart...

Review of Just out of reach
Review by elephantsealer

"Just out of reach" is an explorer's desire to prove the existence of a rare creature which "people thought it must be mythical". The tragedy of it all comes when it is revealed that the creature is real and has actually followed the explorer on his quest when "the Amazonian Umbrella bird, dropped a large stone... onto her dying pursuer, before letting out a mournful cry".

Why do people go to the extent of dying in order to prove something? I probably would not do it; however, many people with great beliefs and strong dedication to their work are people we would call "heroes". And to the author, I do appreciate your short work to remind us that we need such dedication and belief if we want to succeed.

My congratulations to Dave Ryan for his "A Long Broing Day". I see you have such a great piece of work that practically tells a sampling of what is being whispered about and around and in and out of conversations all over England, most especially among the royals.... Keep it up, Dave Ryan.

Review of Fire Drill

"Fire Drill" is a good tale about honesty. As I read it, I realized my dissapointment when "Mr. Powers", the man who was honest, was dismissed from his teaching job at a Catholic School. In our world today, honesty is always deemed necessary to teach to school children. It is terribly unfortunate that a Catholic School defines "honesty" as showing off...

"The loos of a loved one" is a short piece about a loss. It is a frank example of how a person can lose and then recover from a loss through counseling... Such a frank work...

Review of Silence Please.

"Silence Please" is a great presentation of how precious it is to have silence!!! Sometimes there are people who are just not aware that the library is a place of silence. It is indeed unfortunate there are people who are just plain stupid who think listening to a tape of loud music is a bother. I actually congratulate the library person for sending the guy out...

What a very good presentation...

Review of Battle of Life
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
The short tale, "Battle of Life" is a very good example of what real life is: a mother who supports a son, who also works at odd jobs; as well as a man who suffers from throat cancer. These are real stories; actual events that happen every day in life. We wonder why there must be events like these; people who are brave and loving; people who are the true children of God.

To the writer, I admire your story and your question: "... how do you define courage?" I, for one, would define courage as the great love, the human kindness and and the strong affection that God has given to a human. All good wishes...

"Life, Camera - Action!" is a short tale of a father who shares his happy life with his young daughter. Furthermore, he did find a way to treat his daughter well by reading a teen magazine. This story is indeed a very good example about a good relationship between a father and his daughter, and how a parent is able to learn more about and how to treat his daughter better... A good example of fatherhood...

What an interesting short tale, "If You're Interested...WC 218", is. Are we to understand that a mother did actually refuse to listen to her son's reason for being late; and the realization she was wrong not to listen to her son? It really is a good point that the author did emphasize the mother's mistake...

This little story should be a lesson to all mothers...

Review of Guide Letter
Review by elephantsealer

The "Guide Letter" is an example of the letter writer's appreciation and gratitude for the guidance and mentorship of one "good man and smart executive". "Jeff" writes and expresses how much his friend's grooming has turned him into a professional executive.

It is seldom we read about people appreciating the many goodness given to them by others; and this letter shows how gracious and wonderful it is to express one's gratitude to another.

Review of The Fading Shadow

As I reviewed "The Fading Shadow", I felt the awesome loneliness of a child who no longer has a shadow "because I never leave my bed." However, the child gets to "feel really happy" because she gets told she is "fading away to a shadow"...

This short tale is a product of a writer's thoughts; ideas that gave the writer a feeling of satisfaction because no matter how alone we feel as we write, we know there are others who would read what we have written.

The sad tale of "Writer's Block" reminded me of the many mistakes women happen to lose amounts of money to defrauders. As in this tale, women become enamored with a man who they thought to be good and respectable. The saving grace for "Tracy" is her daughter who found out who the man was. And for "Tracy", it was back to a renewed stamina to write... The wickedness of fate is turned into a renewed "sense of purpose" as "Tracy" found a way to get over the blockage....

"Reality Check on Death and Life" brings us face to face with the reality of death. It reminds us that death is real, a part of life, a sensible understanding of death among us, even as we live and love and create our own happiness. It is a part and parcel of life... Somehow, we tend to believe that death is in us, even without reading and understanding this short piece of writing...

"A Boy and His Jacket" is a beautiful tale of youth, of dreams, of a belief in something out of the ordinary. Boys and girls do dream and sometimes they learn to believe in something much like a "friendship" that brings them joy and comfort. It is something believable when a young mind does create an extra-ordinary "friendship" with a piece of clothing... And so in learning something out of the ordinary, we begin to wrap ourselves in such wonderment because it gives us passionate feelings...

As I reviewed "Love and Lifestyle Change Lives", I remember well when my daughter found out she had breast cancer. She reacted well because she took her doctor's suggestion: get rid of it NOW. She not only reacted well, she took out the other breast as well, just in case it may one day become cancerous, too. It has been years now, and my daughter is very happy she took her doctor's suggestion; because now my daughter is completely free of the cancer. It was a good decision because now she and her husband are much more close to each other.

Cancer is a very nasty piece of illness when it invades one's body. It kills; it is painful; it is devastating to the body; it is not a sickness that offers anything but pain and suffering. So, to those who decide to forego surgery, I would suggest that they should should be prepared to suffer, and I mean, SUFFER THE INDIGNITY OF PAIN... However, I hope the woman in this tale knows what her life would be as she foregoes surgery...

Wow, what a story!!! A winter coat and a boy. It is wild story, yes, as well as an interpretation of what imagination can bring about. Secrets of wild rides, of a unique bond between a boy and a winter coat, and of keeping secrets between a boy and a coat. Unbelievable, you say? Indeed, yes; however, the written piece of work, "Boy vs His Sister's Coat" reveals to us the "...bond between a boy and his sister's magical winter coat..." led us to believe that the whole thing did "lst a lifetime."

Such a bright and good example of a short story...

Review of User-Friendly

"User Friendly" is a short tale of how one human showed a kindness to another, even as the "another" was a robot. Here is a story of how some humans took their humanness out of being a breathing and kindly humanity. This tale shows the line of goodness, mercy and kindness cut off by the inhumanness of people... What a catastrophe... Hurray for the writer to show the differences between questionable "humans" and the "real humans"...

The point of the story, "On the Way to Blimpie's WC 300" is about a girl's lies when she applied for her present job as well as hoping for the person she told her lies to would not reveal the lies to the employer. It is rather ungracious and totally selfish for the liar that her lies would not be revealed...

This short tale, "The Story of Greta Goose", is fun to read. It tells of a friendship between Greta, a goose, and Rita, a bunny as well as Greta's regret in trying to avoid Rita because she became friendly with other geese. It reminds me of how we, as humans, tend to act the same way when we pretend to forget great friends. I would like to advice the author, though, to reread her work in connection with the sentence: "Greta turned to see Greta waiting for a hug...".

Review of Bad diet

Reading "Bad Diet" gave me a chill. The tale tells of a girl who tries to lose weight upon becoming smitten with love when she gets friendly with the new guy. They go on a date during which she feels unwell upon which they leave the bar. The last thing she remembers is a taxi ride. She awakes out of her deep sleep, and realizes she is tied to the bed. Her date finally appears with "teeth had grown razor sharp, saliva dripped from his elongated jaw" and smelled like "rancid meat". The transformation of her date as a wolf-like creature horrified her. How does a girl gets out of a situation as gruesome as a ripped out throat?

Ugh... this really is a tale that should teach any girl to be more careful when going on a date... This is quite a tale...

When the idea of a set designer becomes much too expensive and a danger to the lives of actors, it is indeed time to get rid of a designer, who in the long run, may cause millions to the director and possibly to the people who are responsible for the safety of a production company's plan for a movie. A short and quite a believable tale...

Review of A Very Good Day
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
"A Very Good Day" is a fun tale about a boy, whose mother had to go to work. The fun part of the tale tells of "Sandy", the girl who became the boy's day-caring companion. "Sandy" seems to know how to get "Alex" be more happy for finding himself home with a day-care girl. She was a wise girl to make matters enjoyable for a frustrated boy... A really fine short tale of responsibility and understanding...
