For your entry, you submitted your poem, "A Soldier's Goodbye", which looks at the strength and sacrifice is shown when a soldier must leave his loved ones to help to protect their land. It is with a sad but loving heart that the family parts ways, only to believe that they will see one another again.
I thought that this was a straight forward yet compelling poem that draws on the emotions of the reader, as many will put themselves in this place from an emotional state and feels for these families; for the sacrifice that they make for others outside of their family.

For your entry, you submitted the poem, "Heaven" your description in creative tones about your feelings about your first horseback riding lesson, and how it made you feeling just like heaven as you rode on the horse's back.
I think that you did a good job with taking us there to that special time in your life, and I could almost envision myself viewing this from a hidden brush.
Horses are special creatures and I think that you make your reader want to take up horseback riding just to see if we could get a touch of what you felt that day.

For your review, I chose your short story, "Heart's Devotion", the story of a young girl's struggle to get her life in order so she can enjoy the freedom that her life holds, but she keeps making the wrong choices.
I thought that this was a fresh, young and honest feeling look at the struggle that many young kids have in just trying to be a teen. She never realized how much she had supressed her urge to write until she came to realization that she could experience the freedom in her life through her writing.
I think that it was a pleasant story and good to read. I felt like she was on the right track after reading the end of the story.
For your review, I chose your short story, "In the Dark" a mind jerking tale of a girl's overactive imagination when she was flung quite suddenly, and without explanation, into the hallway closet and left to her own thoughts.
I was not sure where the story was going, and as it ended, there was no real direction; just a young girl's guilty conscience and going back to her own personal closet to hide alone in her mind.
I think it was a good start, it didn't blow my socks off but it was readable and allowed the reader to fill in their own ending.

For this review, I wanted to spotlight your forum, "The Blog Ring" which is a forum dedicated to the enhancement and encouragement of WDC bloggers through contests and a sense of community.
It is so easy to join the blog, and you are instantly connected with more bloggers than you could ever thought possible.
To join the group, you need to visit the forum, and post a note asking to join the blog ring. And that is it! The only requirement is to blog as often as you can, every day, if possible. For your first review, I chose your short story, "The Haunted House" a suspenseful account of a day when the writer and some of her friends, were visited by ghosts.
I think that this story has the feel of those teen ghost films from the seventies filled with prolonged organ music, creaky doors and just enough face shots to it believablity. I liked it and think it is great that you are getting those old memories out.

For your first review, I chose "Meet Me @ Perkins" a little opinion piece on dining at Perkins to help one feel part of society. This piece is pretty comical, and tongue in cheek through and through. I think that it is very therpeutic to get these things out on paper, to help organize ones feelings. All in all, it was an ok piece. I've not had good experiences at Perkin's restaurant myself, and would prefer Bob Evans, even though, I think that the smoking section is now gone too.

For your first review, I have chosen your non-fictional item,"Giving the Gift of Hygiene" a short discourse on a high school assignment where teens created "hygiene kits" for needy families in Spotsylvania. I'm going to have to say that I was confused over the purpose of this writing. And, even if you weren't trying to, it seemed real tongue in cheek throughout the entire piece.
It didn't read like you were telling us about a program for informational purposes, but more like satirizing a program in an so-so way.
The good point is your spelling is fine, but I would go back and look at why you wrote this paper, and how you could add a few more lines for cohesiveness.
Just my two cents; take it for what it is worth to you.

For your entry, you take the reader to that dark place of madness called the Holocaust, and it is a dark place indeed. Your poem titled, " A Holocaust Flight" is haunting, and just brings tears to ones eyes if they stop for one moment to contemplate the meaning of your words. It's not a place that many want to tread, which is why your work is unlike any I've read in awhile, but it must be said.

For your entry, you submitted your poem, "My Loneliness", a short, but striking little cry from the heart of a lonely person, cut off by all of their peers. People can turn a deaf ear, a blind eye to a person who is obviously hurting.
My favorite line from your poem is: "I look around at those I love, and those I wish to befriend,
I watch as their friendships break, but the next day they shall mend." It is so hard to be on the outside, but the only upside is it provides us your poetry from your tender heart.

I thought your poem was right on about these feelings, and how some people never get the point until they've pushed one's emotions too far. Sometimes, there's nothing left inside and you can't do anything, even if you had wanted to.

I have been wanting to do more reviews of your work, Sherri so I am taking this time to do a review of your poem, "Bleeding Heart".
As usual, your work is strong and dramatic in content; the imagery is striking and you draw the reader into this world of misery and woe. I was compelled to wonder about why this heart was so full of pain, what could have hurt it so but you allow us to only wonder as the poem draws to a close. I do think it is interesting that the work began with a pleading, hurt heart but then transitioned into one that was aggressive in its attempts for help.
I thought the whole piece was great and was drawn in for more.
This is a very nice work and I truly enjoyed it!

I hope you don't mind a review from me. I wanted to review your poem, "Please Pass Us By", a poem that talks of holding fast, in spite of, the inevitable storms of life.
I thought it was an interesting take on hiding yourselves together in love from the things that would try to pull you apart; the mood was very confident and positive. I liked that!
My favorite part of this poem is:"Cause with you time
flies by." I thought that was dreamy and lovely. I do hope that you continue to hold true to this sentiment for eternity 'cause it sure made me smile.

For your entry, you submitted the poem, "Prowel of the lioness", a work that attempts to examine the dangers, the thrill and fear of someone who is trying to forge out on their own, but there are dangers ahead.
I thought it was interesting, but one of the things that stood out for me were the misspelled words. In the title, the word prowel is incorrect; and here, "The unknown to great to bear." you need to watch out for the different meanings of "to" and "too". The word too would have been the right word to use here. I thought of kipling as I read through your work; I think, in time, you will become more skilled as a writer and you are off to a good start.

and now for your review! For your entry, you submitted the poem, "Sorrow and Joy of Death" about two brothers who are separated in death, but their souls are forever united by love.
The poem seems to be about the pains that come from losing a loved one, and the sometimes incredible feelings of loss that are never healed. I think that this line really summed it up: "...Felt incomplete each day,
For it felt to him like part of his soul,
With his brother, had fallen away." I think that these words can be understood and though it is sad, you write a engaging line of prose.

For your entry, you submitted your short story, "My First Christmas Memory" a story of a little girl whose Christmas wish to Santa was granted, even though, she never actually told Santa what was on her mind. The little girl was taken to the local department store, those magical times are just one for the memory books alone, and she decided on a musical rocking chair, even though, in her heart she also wanted a teddy bear and a doll whose eyes opened and closed. She forgot to tell santa but was rewarded with all of the things she really wanted from santa for Christmas.
This is a sweet story and I enjoyed reading it. It is always nice to experience the wonder of having your Christmas wishes fulfilled.

For youe entry, you submitted your poem, "The Secret of Joy" which speaks about the real ways, in which, a person can spend their time, inciting joy, instead of anger and contention. It is a real inspirational piece of writing and I think that the writer gives many examples for the reader to take with them and contemplate.
One of my favorite lines from your work is: "Laughter is not your own.
It can be owned by anyone." This is so true and people can be selfish with sharing the joy that they hold inside of themselves. A nice point that was made and I enjoyed this poem.
