It is Sunday, August 4, and I am sitting at my computer listening to the neighbor's dog bark. All though, the sound that dog makes cannot be called a real bark. The dog's bark sounds more like a cross between a squeak and a yelp. This dog never barks loud or mean and I do not think he, or perhaps the dog is a she, would frighten a burglar. I know it does not frighten the cats or the birds in this neighborhood.

The dog lives in the yard or the house behind the one I live in. I looked out my kitchen window one evening when I heard the dog yelp, squeak, or whatever you call the noise it makes. A cat was sitting on top of the fence looking down at the dog. The poor cat did not know what to think about the noise. The cat just sit there looking down at the dog as if it could not figure out what type of creature was making that noise.

Listening to the neighbor's dog bark
Wondering if it might be some kind of lark
A skylark or meadowlark
Bird of the family of Alaudidea
No it is just the neighbor's dog attempting to bark

Do you agree?

I am in agreement with 2/3 of the quote. I think the three classes of people are (1) "Those who see", (2) "Those who see when they are shown", and (3) "Those who do not" want "to see". I think that 2/3 of the people in the world want to see, but 1/3 of them have difficulty seeing until a situation or object is pointed out to them. The other 1/3 of the people do not want to see and will not see even if the obvious is point out to them.

It is Saturday, August 3, 2013, and there is no official "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS this month. I am the only one signed up for the unofficial version, so my post to that forum will be hit and miss. Yesterday, I realized that I missed the Funny Friday prompts because it gave me something amusing or down right funny to laugh about. This morning it dawned on me that I miss the Creative Saturday prompts.

Friday started off with me screwing up the coffee. When I placed the carafe in the coffee maker, I got it crooked and as a result it did not make a full pot. Most of the water or coffee went onto the floor, at least I think that is where it went. This means that I have to mop the floor under the coffee maker. No I did not mop it up on Friday, so now when I mop the floor in the breakfast room I will have a worse mess then the one already facing me. I did a better job with the coffee this morning, but I think I will have to clean the coffee maker out by running some vinegar water through it.

This morning started off a lot better then yesterday. Today I got up before the alarm went off. I took my first med at 3:45 AM and then I took a bag of trash to the garage. I slept better last night, I believe that is because I did not use my pillow. My pillow smells and I cannot sleep without inhaling the odor which interferes with a good night sleep. I have two more pillows in the house, so I can throw this one in the trash because I am not going to wash it. I know Grandma Mary would wash the pillow, but I am going to follow my Mother's lead on pillows and eventually purchase a new one.

On creative Saturday
I threw my stinky pillow away.

This morning the first thing I did when I logged into writing.com was check "Three Word Mayhem! and post a three-word phrase. I know my creative juices are flowing. I have at least two poems to write, but it is about 4:50 AM now. I took my thyroid med over an hour ago so I can take my other morning med and drink some coffee. I think my creative juice will flow much more easily after a sip or two of caffeine. Perhaps I can achieve my word count goal today, I did not do a good job of achieving it on Friday.

A strong cup of coffee makes me smile
and drives away my worries for a while.

What is the coolest zoo you have ever been to?

The coolest zoo I have ever visited was the San Diego Wild Animal Park. I liked the Wild Animal Park because I could get on a tram and ride through the area where some of the animals appeared to roam free. I know it was an illusion because the Wild Animal Park was surrounded by fences to keep the animals in, but it was a nice illusion as long as I was on the tram. I also remember a rain forest area that we walked through, which felt real while we were walking the path through the rain forest. I realize that the rain forest was a constructed exhibit build for the illusion of the human visitors just as the animals roaming free was an illusion for the human beings on the tram, but the illusion was nice and felt real while I was experiencing it.

I enjoyed the Wild Animal Park more then I enjoyed anything else on my visit to San Diego. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I want to go back. In the mean time, a little research on which Safari I want to take. Perhaps I can go to San Diego in 2014 and visit the Wild Animal Park again.

It is Thursday, August 1 ,2013, the first Thankful Thursday of five in this month. Therefore I am thankful...

*Smile* that this is Istijlál (Majesty), the first day of Kamál (Perfection), 170 BE, which is a new nineteen day period of goal achievement;
*Smile* that I remember to put a pitcher of water in the refrigerator last night, so that I have cold water to drink;
*Smile* for the beautiful pink clouds of dawn that brightened my morning;
*Smile* for the refreshing morning breeze blowing through the neighbor's olive and oak trees;
*Smile* that I balanced my financial books last night before going to bed and therefore I am ready to open August's books without any problem:

Have you ever wondered what it was like to live one hundred year ago? Have you every wondered how your great grandparents lived in 2013? The International Museum of Art and Technology presents Life in 2013 an exhibit featuring the items left behind by ordinary people living in the second decade of the twenty-first century. Serial Experience! -Part Two- Recall a monumental decision you had to make recently. On the first day (yesterday), share with us the decision you made and the outcome of your choice. Was the outcome generally good or bad? On the second day (today), you have a chance to make a different decision. If you choose to change your decision, write about how that choice would affect your life now. If you decide to stay with the decision you made, explain why.

Change is in the air,
the wind has changed directions,
another options has come to light,
I do not know whether is is wrong or right,
I just have to trust in God,
trust in my real estate agent,
and in my gut feeling.

We are going to list the house for a regular sale. I feel it is the right thing to do, but sometimes I want to second guess myself. I just have to trust that my gut feeling is right and the negative thoughts, which are caused by depression, are just that negative thoughts.

I need to take a deep breath. I need to get out of this house. I need to talk to my doctor about my depression. I do not think I am making any sense with this entry. I feel like this decision is the right one. I need to stop worrying and get on with my life.

If a restaurant were to name something after you, what would it be? Describe it. (Bonus points if you give us a recipe!)

Two hamburger buns toasted with two thin slices of cheese melted on each bun served with Spanish rice made with ground beef and green salsa. A serving of jalapeno poppers on the side.

To make the Spanish rice
1 lb. of ground beef browned (I like a lot of beef with my Spanish Rice)
2 cup of rice cooked
1 large or 2 small jars of green salsa

Cook the rice before you brown the beef because it takes rice longer to cook then ground beef. Once the beef is browned or cooked to your desire, mix the beef with the rice and let it heat for a bit. (I do not know how long I let the combination heat because I never look at the clock.) After the rice and ground beef combination are heated to your satisfaction without burning them then add the salsa. I like a lot of salsa in my Spanish rice, if you do not like green salsa then you can add the red salsa. Also, I sometimes add jalapeno peppers directly to my Spanish rice, if you do this then you do not need have a side of jalapeno poppers.

After the Spanish rice is done then you make the grilled cheese sandwich. You toast the hamburger buns just like you would toast bread if you were using it to make a grilled cheese sandwich. If you like onions or other vegetables added to your grilled cheese go right ahead and add them when you are making the sandwich.

All I seem to be making lately is decisions and the most recent decision I am not sure of the outcome yet. I know that I hope the outcome will be, I hope that the bank accepts one of the short sale offers for the house. If the bank accepts the offer then there is a good chance for me to receive $3,000 in government money to pay rent on an apartment. If the bank does not accept one of the offers then I have another option, which I do not want to discuss at this time.

I was having second thoughts about the short sale, but I cannot live in this house forever with paying the mortgage. I have to either sell it or let the bank take it and I do not want to let the bank take it unless there is no other option. I have had all sorts of advice from people telling me I should wait or I should sell. I got the feeling I should not wait, so I decided to sell. I even changed real estate companies because I got a bad feeling about the first one. Today, I am satisfied with the decision; that does not mean I will be satisfied with it tomorrow or next week, but it is too late now to change my mind because if I do not attempt do something then someone else will do it for me.

I need to think about tomorrow's entry and consider what I would do if I were to make a different decision. Perhaps between now and tomorrow I will figure out some more options that I could have chosen. The one thing I do know, is that I do not like this house anymore. I do not like living in this big house without my mother. I do not like the thought of moving somewhere that I cannot have a pet, but that is a different story and I may discuss it as part of tomorrow's entry.

Blog. Tell us about your week. Include your favorite blog entry from your fellow challengers from the preceding week and, most importantly, why.

The last
full week of July has past
very fast.

In Las Vegas we had thunderstorm warnings, flash flood warnings, clouds, thunder, lightning, wind, rain, and triple digit temperatures; fortunately, not all on the same day of the week. Across the world there were boat crashes, bus crashes, train crashes, bodies found, and murders in an apartment building; fortunately, not all of these occurred in one city. In addition to all the other news items a prince was born. So all in all It has been an interesting, weird, odd, and somewhat scary week.

A new week begins
4/7 of the week in July
3/7 in August.

For me, the last full week of July has been dark and weird. I am not sure why, but I suspect I need to get out and get more sun. I am not going to go any further on that subject because it might become a complaint or a rant. I suppose if I have a choice between the two I would rather rant then complain, but at this point I am not sure I know the difference. There for I will change subjects and move to another paragraph.

as a flash flood through
a dry creek bed.

All the blog entries I managed to read I liked and am unable to decide which one I like the best. I think I have a problem with making decisions, which is odd since I have been making decisions all of my adult life. I suspect when I look back on last week, if I can remember last week after today, I may think it was a good week. The problem right now is that all last week is a blur in my mind and I think that was because I got lost one day because when I turn right I thought I was turning east instead of west, but I think I have over did that; besides I used it in a blog entry.

what can I accomplish
in that short of time.

I did accomplish several reviews on writing.com. I began composing my edition of the fantasy newsletter for August. I also felt sorry for myself and was depressed, but depression seems to be a normal occurrence in my life. I defiantly need a change of venue or at least more sunshine. I suppose I could use more sleep as well or maybe more coffee. I need a vacation!

"I'll be damned," Hera whispered as she exited her silver 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. "It's her!" She slammed the drivers side door and walked to the ATM. Stopping behind a twenty-something blonde, she opened her silver clutch purse and removed her debit card along with two one hundred dollar bills.

The blonde, a satisfied smirk playing across her scarlet lips, fidgeted as the gray haired man ahead of her completed his transaction and then placed his debit card along with his receipt in his wallet. Putting his wallet in his back pocket, he smiled at the two women and left. Ambling to the ATM, the blonde removed her debit card from her slacks pocket and inserted it in the slot. Using her right hand, she entered her pass code while she removed several hundred dollar bills from her bra with her left.

So, Hera thought as she watched the woman deposit eight hundred dollars, the old bastard's visiting hookers now. A wicked smile played across Hera's face as she watched the blond place the debit card back in her slacks pocket. "Honey," Hera said dropping a hundred dollar bill on the ground. "I think you dropped something," she pointed to the bill on the ground.

"Oh," the blonde picked up the money. "Thank you, Mam, I thought I deposited everything."

"Why don't you go ahead and deposit that," Hera smiled sweetly. "I'm not in a hurry."

Hera watched carefully as the woman deposited the money. Then as the blonde started to place her debit card back in her slacks Hera stepped forward bumping the woman's arm and causing her to drop her debit card on the ground. "I sorry," said Hera placing her foot over the debit card. "These allergies are killing me." The blonde walked to her car, while Hera picked up the ATM card and placed it in her purse with her own card and the other one hundred dollar bill.

Returning to her car, she removed the stolen ATM card from her purse and studied the name on the card. Europa Jones, she frowned, where have I heard that name before? Then she smiled, That's the new tenant in Apartment 3A. Tossing the card in the passenger seat, she drove back to the Olympia Gardens Apartments.

At the apartment building, she went to the front desk. "Aphrodite," she said, "why don't you take the afternoon off and get your hair done or something."

After Aphrodite left, Hera turned the security cameras off and then went to the building's ATM. She put Europa's card into the machine and punched in the pass code. After emptying the woman's bank account, she went to the front desk, placed Europa's card in an envelope and put it in Apartment 3A's mailbox. Next she placed the money in several different envelopes and put them in her purse. Turning the security camera's back on, she sat down at the front desk and waited for Hermes to come on duty.

"You're late," she smiled as Hermes walked in the front door.

"Sorry, boss," he looked around perplexed. "Where's Aphrodite?"

"I gave her the afternoon off," Hera said removing several envelopes from purse and handing them to Hermes. "If you deliver these to the Hades Apartment complex and put them in the tenants mail boxes, you can have the night off."

"Whatever makes you happy." He put the envelopes in his jacket pocket, "Can you hand me my winged sandals?"

"Sure," she picked the sandals off the floor and handed them to him. The only man I know who can change shoes standing up. She waved as he left the building.

My most important change of opinion concerns religion. I used to think of the different religions as separate and apart from one another. I now see them as different from the same divine source. Each religion revealed to humanity at a time specific time in history and giving instructions on how to live and prosper spiritually over a specific period of time.

Why did I change my opinion of religion? I changed because I no longer felt comfortable with my opinion. I changed because I found my original opinion intolerable.

1 I Can't Do That Avenue
Depression City, In the State of Depression

Dear Negative Nellie,

This morning, I went outside to pick up my copy of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Instead of opening my newspaper to see which Mayoral Candidate had sext which movies star, I broke the cardinal rule of negative thinking. I looked up and saw a half-full moon surrounded by a bevy of fluffy white or light gray clouds. I had an epiphany! I realized I did not know if the moon was waxing or waning.

It dawned on me, just as dawn was breaking over either Frenchman's or Sunrise Mountain that I couldn't tell the difference between a waxing or waning half-moon, anymore then I could tell the difference between those two mountain. Therefore, I have to resign my membership in IANTE or the International Association of Negative Thinkers of Earth because I can no longer accept the premise that my moon is always waning when it could be waxing.

I should have realized this a couple of days ago, when it hit me that I could not tell the difference between east or west and that turning right is not always turning east. I told you about that incident the day it happened. You must remember me informing you that the only way I could get back to the east side of Las Vegas was to find Tropicana Avenue. Once I found Tropicana then I was able to determine that I was actually driving west instead of east. After making a u-turn at a stop light I was able to find my way back to the east side of town. Unfortunately, by that time the frosting on my chocolate cupcakes had melted.

I ate the cupcakes anyway. I would have preferred to have the icing on top of the cupcakes instead of the sides and bottom of their paper containers. That's just a part of the adventure of life, which I know you will find hard to believe. After all, as a members of IANTE, we are supposed to accept every negative event as proof that we are incapable of success or attracting anything good in our lives.

Since I am resigning my membership and position in this organization, I am having the negative IANTE creepy crawlies extracted from my thoughts. Nellie, you don't have to worry about me informing the membership of these creature because they would not believe me. The membership would think I was just another borderline psychotic with delusions of conspiracies. We both know this isn't true since we are part of the elite who know where these nauseating alien extraterrestrial clones originated.

Since I no longer believe that my moon is always waning or that my glass is always half empty, I can no longer believe that humans are an inferior species in the universe. At the very least, humans are just as good as the aliens who want to enslave us and turn us into depressed negative thinkers always asking their permission to go to the toilet. What writing work of yours are you most proud of?

Pride is a poet's downfall
because it leads
to the egomaniac belief
that perfection is achieved.

Perfection
is always just below
the poet's horizon,
beyond the next mountain of stanzas
on the other side
the metaphoric line
or the high way of similes.

What writing work am I most proud of? My poetry, but I have to be careful that pride does not lead to the belief that one perfect poem is the ultimate goal. Writing poetry is sleepless nights fighting with the depression of writer's block. Once the perfect poem is written (if that is possible) then I have to move on to the next poem and hope I can achieve an adequate verse even if perfection eludes for the moment.

Pride the destroyer
is eventually over come
by death
leaving behind
a decomposing body.

A poet must strive for perfection
without becoming
proud of it.

What makes a person become famous and stay famous? Do most people become famous because of their innovative/"new-age" thinking, or because they adhere to a traditional mindset? In today's world, what is the "easiest" way to get famous? Pick examples from history or current events to illustrate your point.

What is fame?
A fleeting moment in space and time,
Three minutes of excruciating pain
         in front of a news camera
         or behind a podium.

What makes a person famous? Almost anything can make a person famous or infamous in this age of reality television voyeurism. Whether or not this type of fame is lasting depends on the attention span of the audience and the lengths to which a fame seeking individual will go to for gratification. I suspect that in one hundred plus years the famous of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries will be those who did something to help humanity survive the Armageddon we are passing through today.

I have already mentioned the easiest way to become famous. I do not think we are capable of judging those whose fame endures over the millenniums because we do not yet know what the near future holds for humanity. I think the Martin Luther King, Jr.'s and Mahatma Gandhi's fame will last because they made contributions to the unity, and therefore survival, of the human race. I think Hitler's and Osama bin Laden's infamy will last because they worked toward the destruction and extinction of humanity. However, in between those two extremes fame depends on numerous and unknown factors.

*Doorbl* This house has a kitchen-breakfast room combination with a door exiting into the backyard from the breakfast room.

*Doorgr* This house has an entrance hall that opens onto a huge front porch.

You are given the opportunity to create a kingdom of which you are the sole ruler. How would you design your kingdom? Keep in mind things like government, religion, education, etc.

*Castle* I would incorporate the Kingdom of Snow after having the citizens elect the board of directors.
*Castleb* I would set up a universal education system that accepted every citizen and non-citizen of the Kingdom of Snow regardless of the ability to pay for books.
*Castlegr* The charge for the education would be based upon a sliding fee that took into account of the economic situation of the students or their parents .
*Castleleft* Houses of worship or prayer for every religion would be built throughout the kingdom so that the people could choose their own way to worship.
*Castleright* Tolerance would be taught in all the schools from the lowest grade to the highest.
*Castle* All cities, towns, and villages would have a park in the center with shade and fruit trees growing throughout.
*Castleb* When children reach the age of maturity they would be expected to volunteer for the kingdom's military, their province's police force, or some other type of community service for a specific number of years.
*Castlegr* Every person, male or female, would be taught some type of trade, art, or science with which they would earn a living.
*Castleleft* Taxes are a necessary evil in running a kingdom, so these would depend upon the economic ability of each citizen; with the wealthier paying more then the poorer citizens.
*Castleright* All citizen beginning at the age of maturity could vote or run in any election, after signing up with their province's election board.
*Castle* There is probably a lot more that is needed, so board of citizens would be elected and/or appointed to consider what items have to go before the board of directors or place in front of reigning queen and king.
*Castleb* After I completed establishing the Kingdom of Snow and the government was working as well as any government can expect to work; I would hold another election.
*Castlegr* The last election would be held to elect a queen and a king to reign for a specific number of years which would be from nine to nineteen years each.
*Castleleft* In the Kingdom of Snow everyone would be expected to keep the kingdom clean and not litter. If someone were caught littering then he or she would be assigned to province cleanup duty.
*Castleright* Being or becoming a citizen of the Kingdom of Snow comes with both duties and privileges.
