The "Talking Heads, not Thinking Ones" has brought up an example of how television news has brought about an "influx of new and disturbing visual content"; and how it is possible for an adult to provide children "the greater experience and reasoning skills of an adult" in relation to all the "dramatic events" delivered by network news.

In a way, the tale brought out an encouraging thought about children because television news have become frightening and maybe all these disturbing events may affect children as they learn all about "disturbing" "network news".

Review of The Note

"The Note" relates about a pickpocket who thought of "getting sentimental in his old age", not realizing that reading a short note practically made him realize that he stole something special from an old man... Jem, the pickpocket, was a man who stole and was not bothered at what he did. He was a pickpocket and to him there was the need to steal and that was all. However, finding a note in the wallet he stole, he was bothered by his conscience...and as result, he became aware what kind of a person he has become...

I realized as I reviewed this tale that no matter how cold and hateful a person becomes, there is always one little incident that makes one realize of how evil one becomes...

Review of Clair De Lune

As I reviewed "Clair De Lune", I realized it is the author's way of remembering of a Mom... It is a worthy memorial, as it is always one, when it comes to mothers. We remember mothers because they are part and parcel of our lives; and because without mothers our life may not reach the potential of our dreams... Great for the author, to write this tale; and maybe many more writers would write extensively for and about mothers...

Review of Moonlight Terror.
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: ASR | (3.5)
"Moonlight Terror" is all about fear and terror in the night: about cars going 50 mph; about "wondering who would be next"; if "their life would be speared for another night"; or "it was only a matter of time", ending with "My time, I believe has come. But I can't tell my son how sorry I truly am."

I wonder why a mother should feel sorry...was she the cause of all the terror in the night? The tale gives no explanation of what the terror is all about ... although there were "chains rattling" in the night, and a need "for extra padlocks of the basement." The fear for life seems to be the overall theme of this short tale although in the end there is not a thing a mother can do but feel sorry for her son...

Review of Wartime winter

The idea behind the "Wartime winter" is the lovely thought of a hope for the ending of winter, that would mean the "sun will shine" to keep the character and her child warm and safe until the time "daddy will be home". It is a huge hope, and a wonderful thought for the return of warmth... This is a lovely work of art...

Review of Modern Warfare
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: 13+ | (3.5)
The idea behind "Modern Warfare" is the creation of human fighters who would be trained to "conquering death and their fears of death" which in turn would be able to "combat the machines of other countries with renewed courage and confidence." I wonder, though, if this horribe way of training soldiers would encourage men to become soldiers????

War is a word that should be erased from the minds and thoughts of humans because there is no future to it; no sense at all in subjecting humans to become machines... Maybe we should just create "fighting machines"????

This short tale of "My Best Friend Bacon" is all about loving an animal, and of the wonderful feeling of having a friend. Through the story of the boy and his pig, my review of the tale led me to realize that writers do have a way of moving a story that brings memories of events in the past; and how the past may belong to the future because of memories that lingered...

This is a wonderful tale of childhood, a memorial to all childhood that create in readers a second look at our past...

Review of Tell Me the Truth

This short tale between a dog and a cat made me laugh. The cat mewed as Mike came into the room where the two animals were talking, gave a meal of salmon to the cat, and at the same time, warned the dog not to eat the "cat food". In response to the situation, the dog, possibly felt left out, decided after all to tell the cat she is fat...the dog made a turn around, possibly to let the cat know he was not going to take the "insult" that the cat managed to secure by just mewing...

This situation is possibly a scene that happens between two animals, not to mention two individuals, who live in the same household...Jealousy/hatred, where is thy sting?????

Small tales like, "Oct 16 Minor voice", are great representations of the power of written words. It also makes it clear that writers do have that "sense" of creating stories that are believable. And I surely would like the writer to know that her/his work may become an inspiration to other writers.

Review of A Single Drop

As I reviewed, "A Single Drop", I noted how upset the character became as he thought about his wife. In his mind, he wanted his wife to disappear. And of course, he did find his wife had disappeared when he got home.

The writer did well in writing this short tale. It flowed with ease up to the time when the character realized it was not possible to undo what he thought of in the first place...

I hope the writer will continue to present many more of her/his works, so that readers may get inspired with her/his mode of writing....

Review of Queen of Hearts

"Queen of Hearts" relates about a man called Striker, another man called Edwards, and the tale of a man's wife who was killed as a result of Edwards' action. As I reviewed it, I realized the skilled and coldness of the killing of Edwards was swift. There was no remorse. It was done with cold purpose.

The story flowed with the swiftness of a hurricane, without emotions. The writer is a skilled person, aware that this kind of story need to be as cold as it is presented. I am inspired...

It was fun and inspiring to review, "A SKATEBOARD'S MEMORY". Inspiring, I say, because it is told by a skateboard...and we all know that skateboards do not talk nor write...It is inspiring for me because I realize that stories are written in so many ways, including that by a "skateboard"...

The short tale flowed with ease, and it is inspiring because the writer taught of the tale and wrote it in such a way that it becomes inspiring, too... Well done, to the writer; and may she/he let us, ordinary people, continue to read more of her/his works...

Review of My Legacy
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (4.0)
"My Legacy" is about a character who writes a letter to an unborn child. The letter becomes a revelation of the character's life, the thoughts that became bothersome, the many incidents that made up the life of the character as well as the many questions in life that beset the character. However, what makes this tale believable is when the character writes: "... I hope my perspective helps you..." and ends up with, "...How you choose to display is what makes you individual."

In the long run, we are what we are, a person of our own making; and the letter is actually a very good advice...

The flash, "Natural Progression", tells of two friends who were killed by a lioness whose two young ones were starving... It is unfortunate indeed; however, it clearly shows the difference between humans and animals. A hungry animal will kill, whereas a starved human would most probably beg for food. This flash story does prove the difference between a human and an animal.

The tale of "Oct 25 Plot Background Story" tells of Nicky, the "goodhearted private investigator", and Jean, the woman Nicky did once loved; and the unfortunate ending of their relationship. Although some relationships start well between two individuals, there comes a time when one (or the other) realizes there is no sense in continuing the relationship... In the beginning, there was a threat to the safety of the investigator, who, however, made it plain that he had ways of conducting himself safely...

In my review, I realized that the story reveals Jean's weakness when she used two other men to confront the investigator...

Review of At Any Time

As I reviewed "At Any Time", I got the feeling that the family described here were once together until circumstances, perhaps such as jobs and marriages, separated them from each other. Nevertheless, there is one member of a family who decided to make the visits to a very sick brother... In a way, this is a typical family with as much drama as any other; however, as it is widely known, there is "hope" through a sister's decision to visit a brother.

In reviewing the "An Unfinished Rehearsal", I came to realize of the patience Mr. Harrison displayed when on arrival at the school rehearsal, "only seventeen members of the 150 member orchestra" were present; a disturbance of "something had fallen or been dropped" caused a stoppage, followed by lights that dimmed and bulbs that were blown; and finally a "high man's laugh echoed mockingly through the auditorium", as the laughter followed "them all the way out".

I know I have heard that PATIENCE is a VIRTUE... quite a way to show it through this short tale...

Review of Not To Worry

"Not To Worry" tells us about "Ana" who rang "Lorna" because she worries about "Donny" who has not come home as yet. Although "Lorna" tried not to worry, even as she went about in the house, it became clear that "Ana's" worry affected Lorna as well.

A review of this short tale reminded me how easy it is to get terribly upset when a member of a family does not not come home; that all one needs to do actually is trust each other...

To the surprise of the birthday girl in the "Birthday Surprize", we learn about a child who is the daughter of the celebrant. It was a terrible way for anyone to present a surprise; it was cruel, selfish and mean for any one to do. Obviously, in this piece of work, we are given the chance to understand the whole meaning of this cruelty of one person to another...

Hurrah for the writer, for showing the meaning of writing; and that is, the hatred that lies underneath the mother-in-law's presentation of a gift to the celebrant...

The joy and hapopiness of Jack as he celebrates his birthday on Halloween is reflected on the words of this piece of work, "Jack's Birthday". It is a happy write, and a writer's work that reflects the joy and happiness of the boy whose birthday happens to be the same day as Halloween!!!!

What an inspiration...

The frustration of a character in the piece of work, "Passing on the Mantle of Shame", is quite evident as it shows clearly at the end that said: ".....we're done carrying it."

I reviewed the work because I realize that as writers we bring our thoughts and ideas into our work; and sometimes our work (as this piece of writing has done) may or would give other writers ideas and thoughts of their own that can be written in order to continue to give inspiration to other writers...

Thank you to the writer for this work...

Review of Altered Reality

The flash, "Altered Reality", is a short tale of a character who puzzled about a box; and when it was unwrapped, it emitted green light that sweeps the character "away into another dimension"... The character appears to have accepted being a "Quarantined Queen of everything."

I have a question though. Part of the third paragraph that starts with "I travel on the green light" ... there is this piece that puzzled me: "I can breathe is my thought as a red sun ..."

Tell me more, please...

"Get Lost" tells of the many ways the character in this piece of writing has learned and is learning how to become as perfect as the teachings of his "Lord" as well as the faith he experiences, which he considers "fine and beautiful gift"... It is an interesting point to consider for writers...

"How I Got My Gift for Public Speaking" represents the many ways a person learns to be "perfect" in what she/he wants to be and to do... It is indeed a good example how writers learn to perfect their writing: keep learning, read a lot, do more writing, and many, many more interesting ideas that would hone someone to be good (or maybe PERFECT) in what she/he wants to do...An interesting tale indeed; and an example how to do good/well...
