Review of Looking To The Future - WDC 2050

This is a well written story. I love it. It fits the prompt perfectly. I like the way their conversation does the revealing of the answers to the prompt. I love the optomistic view on the future of writing dot com. I want to believe it will still be around twenty five years from now. I do wonder why they would go to Austraila during such a momentous anniversary. I mean fifty years! But that is not the author's fault it was a part of the prompt, which is a good illustration of why you should put author's notes with the prompts in the item. The one fault I found being that they are away from home for the anniversary is the prompt's fault not the author's. The fact that it fits so well to the prompt and seems to work fairly well in terms of story is definitely another star for the author.

Review of Owl Song

This is well written and vivid. It drew me in and dragged me along through it to the end. That said it is more of a vignette than a story. Nothing of note really happens. It is all about the setting. There is no conflict, no stakes for the main character to reach for. It is missing that oomph of having a clear purpose. As a vignette it is clear and flows perfectly well it just is missing the story part of a story. There is a character, and a vivid setting but nothing actually happens. Also I would add a third genre like maybe nature?

Review of A Bicycle Built for Two

This is a cute story, and I feel like the prompt is perfectly incorporated into the story. There was not even a slight bit of awkwardness in the placement of any of the prompt phrases. It does not read like it was written around such constraints. The whole thing is perfectly natural. It seems that the father is not too upset by this man as a suitor for his daughter. He seems to approve of the bicycle as a gift, and that came as a surprise after the daughter's hesitation in letting him find out about it. Overall, it is a pretty romantic story and I hope there are wedding bells in the near future.

Review of The Rainbows Mission

Wow, I mean, WOW! This is a wonderful, surprising, and magical story. The black and white transition to tecnicolor was as clear to me as when it happend in the wizard of oz. I loved the symbolism. The character of the tired old clock maker definitely learns and grows as he passes the trials on the rainbow road on the way to the pot of gold. He became a hero just because he had the courage to reach out for the possible. He managed to push past his linear, precisely measured life as a clock repair man to follow the most whimsical possibility. And he returned with a reward for all when he did. This is a great story!

Review of Letter to WdC

This is a wonderful note to be sent in with your death certificate. But the prompt was to write a letter to your family explaining what to do, not to the story master. That seems to be who you are addressing in this letter. You probably need to look up the address to send the note to. Make it as easy as possible for your heir to do this for you. I remember this prompt. I chose a different one. Great job with what you have written. I just am not sure if it is entirely what the prompt was asking for.

Review of Trick or Treat

Review by rinsoxyMail Icon

THe last line implied the trick or treaters were aliens. I found that a little jarring, and I did not understand why he wanted to be the candy man from there forward. I found the middle to be a little hard to follow. I did not understand whether the extra ghosts just materialized out of nothing, which should have left him with a more definitive surprised reaction. It feels like you are telling the story from a point of view where you have extra information on the characters and action that you simply assume we would pick up and follow without the necessary clues. Still I like this story. it was definitely worth reading. I appreciate you shared this. Flash fiction can be hard to pull off. I admire every attempt I read.

Review of Such Is life

This is a good story. But a touch unbalanced. you spend more time and effort on the background information in the beginning. and not enough time on the actual action of them meeting and then marrying. Twenty more years together are glossed over in a single sentence. I would have liked to see more interaction between them and a little showing not telling of their happy marriage.

Review of Yung Lee

Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
This is a good start to the story, but I would have liked a more meaningful reason behind him becoming a supe rhero. It feels a little flat like he became a super hero just because. There does not seem to be a logical or emotional reason behind him becoming a super hero. It does not have anything driving it the way you have written it. Batman's parents were killed by a mugger so of course he grew up to fight crime. Spiderman let a thief get away and his uncle died because of it. There is not a clear motivation for Yung Lee. There really should be something more than a whim driving him for him to risk his life like this.

Review of Blood Moon

This is a lovely poem. It hits on the ancient feeling that the sun and moon are starcrossed lovers that rarely get to meet. At least that is what this poem made me think about. Part of me understands that this is a lunar eclipse in flowery language. But I just feel a mythological slant to it and it seems like they are lovers not just astronomical objects. It makes it feel like the earth is the center of the universe and everything else is moving around us. I like this feeling it makes me feel like they probably did thousands of years ago.

Review of Country Lovin': Chapter Twenty-One

I love this chapter. It eases you into the truth of what is going on. I think it could stand alone as a story. It has all the information that it needs and does not require you to read the preceeding chapters to know what is going on and the context of the action. I think reading previous chapters would only serve to expand the feelings and understanding you get in this chapter. If the rest of the story is written this well you really have something going here. It is definitely worth reading. One thing though you head hop from her to him in the end and that felt a little jarring for me, but it did not take me out of the story too badly. I was just wondering why we had suddenly changed point of view from her to him.

Review of The Curious Case of the Dr. Pepper Peeps

Oh my god, It is hillarious. The story was not just about a dare, was it? It was a dare to see if you could write a story about doctor pepper peeps, right? I love the magic of it and the fantasy. Grapezilla sounds terrifying. Who knew that a peep could save the world. It is an awesome story one part unbelievable one part plausible. It is just awesome. I love it. It flows it draws you right one in and drags you along on a surreal journey. I highly advise that anyone reading this review actually take the time to read the story. It is just so cute.

Review of What Goes Around

Overall, the story is pleasant and has a beginning, middle, and end. I can not fault the meat of this story; the characters are good, and the story flows. What I think needs help are your genre choice. It is always better to fill all three genre slots with genres that are more specific to what you have written. People search for things to read based on the genres you label your items with. I would go with family, comedy, and maybe romance. It would give your story more exposure for people to read it. Next, if this is a contest entry, it might have helped if you put in an author's note as to what contest it was for and perhaps what the specific prompt was. I know I have found and entered contests based on discovering previous entries to the contests and finding the prompt interesting. It would give the contest better exposure, and the people running the contests always appreciate that. It also helps me to be able to go back and see what inspired my own items when I wrote them.

Review of The Fairy Who Climbed the Rainbow

The rhyme in the last two lines is a bit of a stretch, but I only really noticed it because it was at the end and I was hoping for more poem. I liked this and the story it told. I like the fairy it is almost like a muse of sorts, not the usual mischievous trickster type that I think of when I think fairy. I liked this version better. It had more of a purpose in existence than what I usually think of fairies being. It was well written. I like it.

Absolutely adorable story, but I do not think it is suitable for children. But the prompt would be kind of difficult to get the prompt covered while still remaining g rated. Nice try though, highly admirable attempt I enjoyed it. Not suitable for actual children but hilarious when read by an adult.

Review of River of night

This is an awesome story. Ten parts creepy, five parts disgustingly graphic, with another ten parts of fitting revenge for a ghost or ghoul. I am not quite sure what Billy is, but he clearly is able to affect the land of the living. For part of the story I was not sure that Billy was actually there, that it was not just some kind of feverish hallucination of the main character as he was dying from his wounds. I loved the ending. I wonder just how and why the murder happened in the first place. That information never comes up, i wanted to know but I do not know if it would actually help the storytelling any. It is good you probably should not mess with it.

Review of All I All I want for Christmas Is you.

This poem is short and sweet and I can clearly tell exactly what song was the media prompt for it even without the author note. I would put the author note in a drop note or pop note just to make it prettier. But that is just nit picking. I like this poem and the end result gave me the feels. The way you said that all you want for the rest of your life is the subject of the poem was cool.

This is a cute story. I remember this prompt. I started a story for it but just could not seem to get into the groove of it. I think your responce to the prompt is awesome. I love it. A giant panda that talks sounds pretty scary. it is really awesome. I feel for this poor guy and am impressed how well you told this story with almost entirely dialog. You stuck to the prompt well and I really love it. Great job on this short story. Did you win?

SNAKES, I hate snakes. That doesn't sound like too tall of a tall tale. It was cute. Except for the snake. Why did it have to be a snake? I could better handle a skunk or badger but not a snake. I was with you under the bush untill the snake came along. Tennis ball graveyard and all, it is an awesome story. I love the story, especially where the snake was screaming human.

I hope he finds his way home. I wish the nature hug of the clearing could have hung around despite the helicopter. It was so comforting for him losing that peace seems to have broken him. This short story made me feel things, his panic and the brief relief from it. It is well written and very enjoyable. I have no recommendations to make this any better than it already is. He DOES find his way home doesn't he?

Review of The Mother, The Children, The Misery

Oh my gosh, this was a horrible story. I am an animal lover and i did not suspect it was a cat until the farm where her baby was taken. I then wished a happy ending for her but no such luck. I read another story with the same theme recently and this one was even more heart wrenching than the last. I feel for every loss she went through. Then she died. At least she was reunited with two of her babies.

This was cute. I love the kid and the babysitter. The conversation flowed so well and I love watching her confusion build and then crash all over her. The way she only snapped out of it after the mom told her that she would double the babysitting price. It was a slightly twisted ending but it did end it well. I can see a lot of confusion in the babysitter's future. I just hope there is not permanent damage.

Review of Don't Play Poker

This is a cute little limerick. I am reading it the week of Saint Patty's day and found it a timely random read and review. I do not know much about poker but I think that this was a very good hand, I could be wrong. The subject of this short little poem really does fit with the lighthearted nature of limericks for me. I appreciate the blend of form and theme it works for me.

Review of A Pirate's Life

Review by rinsoxyMail Icon

This is a quick story and I found it well written, The lament of these would be pirates implies that they really have not been trained in proper pirating. They have to sail the right shipping lanes to catch passing treasure ships. Otherwise the ocean is just too vast to hope to run across a valuable ship to attack. If they stay closer to ports they have a better chance of finding ships, but also of being caught by others. I just BSed that like the story itself seems to be. Who wants to read about unsucessful pirates? Well, I found it entertaining.

I love this. I had not considered that hermits could want for certification. I also did not think they could get anything from being in a large group, but this story makes that make sense. I do not think that Amilicar is wrong in his revelation. I thought that it would be a simple awareness all hermits would have by the definition of being a hermit.

Review of But can it Club Penguin? - 1 - Treadmill

What is club penguin? I am glad you have found a way to play it. I guess it must be like Legend of The Red Dragon a game I used to play on BBSs until the internet came along. SInce then I have not been able to find it. I hate when I get addicted to a game and then the makers discontinue it. The fact of the matter is that it happens and if you avoid games for fear that they will quit on you, you will not end up playing anything.
