Exceptional way to write about "Bunnies from Heaven". I am sure the "startled fox" enjoyed the fresh meal... even as there was a "war of the hawks" up somewhere...two silly hawks who should have split the "meal" instead of clawing each other to death... Short and to the point...

Thank you, Sumojo, for your, "Family Christmas"; for writing about the old tradition of spending Christmas together as a family; for the "break-up" of a family's Christmas "get together" because of little things that seem to matter to some of the family members or it seems by every adult members, minus the young ones. Yes, the younger ones seem to feel the get together is fun...However, the fun ended because a young member of the family got bitten by a shark.

However, Sumojo, I feel that the family you "put together" are not typical at all. There are families who believe families need a "get togethr" for the simple reason they do love each other. There is always a risk of one or two members who are plain "egotistical" and "selfish". You see, at Christmas we are supposed to lay aside our anger/hate for each other because we have this tradition of coming together, to renew our love for each other, to behave as correct as one can manage it...to be a family again...

Review of Mistaken Identity

The short tale of "Mistaken Identity" tells of how a wife invented a way to dissuade a salesman who was trying to sell solar panels. She enjoyed it, of course, even as she told her husband it was not a mean thing to do because "He walks away feeling better about himself..." Indeed, it was the wife's way of dismissing a salesman; and let us hope there are other ways to do the same thing if it does happen to any other housewife... in real life...

Review of Winter's Cry

"Winter's Cry" presents to the reader a girl who seems to be leaving her home, clutching her favorite Bear to her heart, and in tears as she told her Bear: "We can't protect mummy now, she's sleeping and doesn't have to fight with daddy anymore." Did she leave her home to go to her aunt's because her mummy was no longer alive as a result of a fight between mummy and daddy? Mysterious, indeed... The presentation is short; however, with the last few words she spoke to her bear seems to lead us, readers, that the fight between "mummy" and "daddy" may have ended bad??? Interesting...

"The Coffee-Pot Caper" is a very good example of how two individuals get into a serious situation that would become the beginning of their separation. But with both learning the art of "forgiveness", it turns out there was no reason to hold their anger against each other. The coffee-pot that was the reason for their anger turned up...

This tale reminds me of the many stories I have heard: of two people who love each other but because of one small episode, they get angry and separate, practically hating each other. This tale gives the reader a lesson in forgiveness and in learning to be more tolerant toward one another. Thank goodness there are authors, like the writer of this tale, who writes with stories like "The Coffee-Pot Caper". Kudos to the writer...

Review of Bear Creek

"Bear Creek" is a short tale that is fun to read. It shows how a person, who lost his way, would react when a voice comes out of nowhere...it seems a human way to believe that when one is lost, there is a danger to one's self. What fun it is to come face to face with someone who may actually be a help at the point of loss...

Review of Goodnight

Although it is a tale, "Goodnight", expresses it well: that a father and a son are good with each other. Although there was the question about "magic" and the word, "dork" mentioned, the story showed a good relationship between father and son. This tale does confirm that writers are wise through all their humanity... It was a fun read, that led me to believe that writers are definitely humans...

"At The Mall" reminded me of my mistake as the character experienced in this tale. It was a fun read, though; and I somehow there was no feeling of embarrassment... To the author, here's hoping you will continue to write little pieces of work that are fun to read...

The tragedy of the death of a master assassin in the hands of the person he trained comes as a result of the master assassin's error in trusting the very person who killed him. It turns out his student undertook a job that led to his own death... Errors do happen but an error like what happened to the master assassin could have been prevented if only he was not so trusting...

Review of Ocean Boy

"Ocean Boy" is about the rescue of a boy, who found and took the boy home, fed him and held him in her arms until he was asleep.

It is a story of kindness, a tale of one person helping another, a piece of writing that tells of the humanity of one person, and the beginning of a new life for one person who was found needing help...

First, I had a good laugh at "Callie", the character in "Saved", for her "misfortune" and for being able to control herself from "wetting her pants". I guess Callie will now learn to keep her "curiosity" to a minimum (or maximum) in order to avoid (a maybe next time...) of "curiosity kills the cat"!!!!

The short tale is just the right written "advice" for the curious!!!!

Review of A Gift of Freedom

"A Gift of Freedom" is a beautiful tale of a man who became a cripple, who while in hospital he was visited by an elderly lady, who brought him two crystal figurines: a polar bear and a penguin. Waking out of a dream, he "felt a surge of irrational hope - and smiled."

This is a wonderfful story of a kindness that was shown to some people as well as a great awakening that brought a cripple to hope ... that a day will come when he will be healthy and able to live a normal life... It is a good and wonderful story that make us remember that there is always a tomorrow, a hope of a beautiful tomorrow...

To the author, do write more and let us read more of the wonder of your writing...

To the author of "Gaming: A Way of Learning English?", you are quite right. Learning English, how to speak it properly, how to spell properly the words you learn, and writing in English properly can be achieved through different ways and forms. If one starts learning English by playing games, that is great, indeed. However, in order to be more proficient, one should also learn to read the words, recite the words properly, and most especially, when writing it, learn to spell the English words properly... Hooray to your idea...

Reviewing "Appreciating the small things" is a very good example of how people change after a tragedy, which in this short tale, tells of a person who finally realized the goodness of being alive and able to move about after breaking his neck.

Life is precious. When we practically lose the little things that make us alive, such as our bodily movements, we realize how important it is to be able to move, eat, laugh, cry, walk, run, etc.

We join an adventure that we thought was for something we think as precious. Voila!!! We realize it was for something much different from our own thoughts. Nevertheless, it was an adventure, and we somehow get over the excitement!!!

This is exactly what "Another Man's Treasure" is all about. However, it was FUN!!!!

Review of What Is Yellow?

Amen... I would say to the author of "What is Yellow". It is indeed a color that represents many, many sentiments. As writers I believe we should be happy that we can use different words that would portray the exact meaning of what we want to say in our writing. Hooray, for the yellow...

It is rather intriguing to read about a man who lost practically most of himself in this work, "Who is That in the Mirror?" However, as a soldier we realize that most of himself that he lost maybe the result of his work as a soldier. Then, he realizes that another man who stared at his eyes may have thought he had seen the soldier before.

It is rather intriguing to feel you know someone by staring at the person's eyes, whom you may think you knew before. These images of recognitions are part and parcel of our being human because we tend to move around as we seek other employment. It is a good write, though...

Why would a boy wish he has a Dad rather than a Father? This short tale tells of a boy who only "tolerates" the husband of his mother because the man obviously did not care much for him... It is such a pity when a boy comes to realize the difference between a Dad and a Father, and for finally dealing "with this crappy day" in his life... A boy obviously grows up and realizes the situation he was in; however, he finally realizes his situation, which I should think should give him a chance to find a way out of his situation... It is surely a good write up about a boy, and I hope the author would write more so that others would have a chance to read his way of writing...

Review of Packing Panic

"Packing Panic" reminded me of the many times I traveled: the need to pack days before the day of departure... because of a chance of leaving out something necessary for the trip... Yes, it does makes sense to pack the day one plans to leave; however, is there a chance something important and necessary, will be left out because the packing is not planned ahead of the day of travel????? I honestly admire someone who plans to travel but would not plan, ahead of time, to make a list of what is necessary for the trip...because if it was me I would have had a list, and yet I would pack a day or so before the trip... This is a great debate on packing...

I feel the pain that some veterans are going through as I reviewed "Doug the Dog". Why are veterans become beggars after serving their country? Why? I believe these are questions that I or the writer of this short tale may be able to answer. Something should be done about all the veterans who have been abandoned by thier country...

The title, "Pastries on Patrol", caught my eyes; so I reviewed the short tale. It was all about a motorcycle cop and the driver of a car who drove his "'vette" a bit too fast; and was given a ticket. After which the cop "wished for another doughnut".

I have heard of cops who love doughnuts; and this little tale seems to prove there is a cop there who loves a doughtnut while waiting to ticket a fast driver... What a caper...

Isn't it wonderful when there is understanding between two people? There is no anger; there is no intimidation; there is understanding. Reading the "An Ounce of Prevention WC:280", I became aware at how the author managed to create a critical situation into a meeting of two minds...and thereby preventing a terrible event happening...

Review of Fraidy Grady
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: ASR | (3.5)
"Fraidy Grady" tells of a tale about a boy who refuses to go into the water, while his siblings and others urged him to jump. Earning the name "Fraidy Grady" became a constant reminder to the boy that the name would be attached to him as long as he refuses to go into the water; so he decided to jump in the water anyhow before he went indoors to join his family at dinner.

A boy decides what to do in the face of so much heckling from his family. The decision to jump in the water was his wish not to be known as "Fraidy Grady", and therefore it was a wise thing to do...
