I'm the lead editor for a small independent press, but I am on maternity leave for the next several years and thus not accepting submissions. I'll tell you my professional opinion on first chapters or short pieces and whether I would have accepted it or rejected it if I was looking for work. I've dealt most with controversial speculative fiction, and I'm most interested in polyamory a.k.a consensual non-monogamy.

This is some wonderful advice. However, I believe the saying is "responsible" rather than "reasonable."

I recommend getting a program that reads aloud to you for proofreading purposes. I use Natural Reader since I bought it many years ago, but these days, you can get tts programs for free or simply access them from your browser. Here is a nice, free one: https://ttsreader.com/

I also recommend encouraging people to seek professional help if needed. These questions are a good starting point, but they might not be enough for some situations.

I wish I could put my ex behind me like putting a file in a cabinet, but 9 years later, I'm in therapy trying to rid myself of the trauma. It wasn't just cheating, though. It was verbal abuse and sleep deprivation from the verbal abuse while he was fueled by meth and I wanted nothing more than sleep.

How long have these feelings been ongoing? Was there any particular triggering event? It sounds like depression that needs to be treated one way or another. I see that this is labeled "teen," so if you don't feel you can ask your parents or guardians for help, a school counselor is a good person to start with.

If you are worried about cost, Medicaid often covers mental health services, and the income threshold for minors to receive Medicaid, at least for California's version known as Medi-Cal, is higher than it is for adults. That means that minors can sometimes qualify for services even if their parents' income is too high for the parents to use it themselves.
